Lotto StudParticipantHow many players in this years draft class have been guaranteed a 1st rd pass? If you know who the players are could you please list them? So far I’m only hearing Quincy Pondexter and Elliot Williams.

yashParticipantI think it’s still early to be getting guarantees.

juves4783Participantwell, this is probably not a sure deal; but in today’s espn insider article and past articles, they think the following players have guarantees:
Elliot Williams – pulled out of combine due to injury but appears to be healthy. only worked out for the spurs and with private trainers in LA. insider is predicting either spurs or grizzlies.
Quincy Pondexter – pulled out of combine for no apparent reason. jon brockman did a similar move last year, but pondexter did work out for the wizards. i have a suspicion the blazers are taking him with their 1st rounder.
Miroslav Raduljica – stopped working out for teams. chad ford’s article today eluded to him having a guarantee since motie and seraphin are probably not going to stay in this year’s draft.

Lotto StudParticipantWhat do you think about these possible players getting a 1st rd. guarantee?
Armon Johnson
Ryan Richards
Willie Warren
Jordan Crawford0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/07/2010 - 11:37am #328545
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantI don’t think any of those 4 will get one.

OhCanada-ParticipantA gaurentee isnt gaurenteed either. There are no written contracts saying I will draft you.
Every first round gaurentee should be taken with a grain of salt…

JNixonParticipantBoston is high on Solomon Alabi from what I’ve heard. No guarantees though, but one could be on the way maybe.

bdoody42ParticipantBased on the article on here I think Vazquez may have one, but I am not sure. I wonder who guaranteed Pondexter. I hope it was the celtics I think he can come in and spell Allen and Pierce.
Armon Johnson could get guaranteed if Bradley and Bledsoe go early and no to the Grizzlies. I could see the Grizz taking Armon with there last 1st round pick.
I dont think Crawford or Richards will get one either, I feel Richards is the most unlikely to get one.
Willie Warren could get one froma team like the Magic, but guarantee doesnt mean anything if someone else falls lower the projected.

yashParticipant@7chakras
Thank you.
Using the word “supposedly” in a sentence when referring to a guarantee is pointless.

JNixonParticipantThe only reason Pondexter cancelled on an earlier workout is because he was injured, not due to a guarantee people. I do think Boston will think long and hard about him though.

kaceyParticipantPondexter has not received a guarantee. Why would he still be working out for teams? He had a workout with the Wizards a week after the combine and a workout for the Nets tomorrow.
Elliot Williams on the other hand is more likely to have received a promise. Vasquez hasn’t received one he has a workout for the Grizz on the 15th and another workout with the Heat coming up.
Avery Bradley has turned down a workout with the Bucks, but I doubt he has a promise. Supposedly, Osiris Eldridge has received a promise from a team in the 2nd round.
Promises/guarantees aren’t the easiest things to hear about. NBA teams are going to be quiet when they make someone a promise. The best way to tell if someone has a promise is when they start shutting down their workouts, which Elliot Williams is the only one who has really done so. I guess you can count Miroslav as well, but we need to hear more about his situation.
