Lotto StudParticipantHere is a list of guys who had tons of talent & potential who left early, but most definitely needed another year or so.
- Donnell Harvey Florida-10ppg freak athlete who I viewed as a potential Dennis Rodman type of player, just with athletic skill set.
- Omar Cook St John’s-15ppg 8apg The numbers were there in his lone year of college, still to this day I absolutely do not know why he could not make it.
- Alton Ford Houston-11ppg A guy who was a below average rebounder in college, but could have stuck around like & been an undersized center ala Chuck Hayes.
- Rodney White Charlotte-18ppg Could have & should have been Melo before Melo, that’s all I’m going to say.
- Jonathan Hargett West Virginia-14ppg true scorer. Believe he left due to grades.
- Evan Burns San Diego State-9ppg I felt as though if he were given the opportunity to play at UCLA as planned he would have been an oustanding player on the college level to go 1st Round.
- Daequan Cook Ohio State-10ppg Although he is making a living in the NBA strictly as a shooter he needed to stay another year to fine tune his game. I believe if he did not go to Ohio State with Oden he would have stayed.
- Javaris Crittenton Georgia Tech-14ppg Steve Francis type of player who is considered a combo guard, but I view him as a 1. Has that J.R. Smith mentality on & off the court. Most definitely would have been a Lotto pick if he stayed another year or 2.
- Brandan Wright UNC-15ppg I don’t see him being in the league that much longer if he does not pan out with the Nets. Drafted high solely off of potential, but he is very weak & undersized to play the 4 still.
- Donte Greene Syracuse-18ppg Has the skill set to be a small forwards worst nightmare, but does not put all his physical gifts together to dominate. I would have left to if I put the numbers up he did, but for him to do so he was very under-valued in the draft.
- Davon Jefferson USC-12ppg Really needed the college game to at least become a prospect.
- B.J. Mullens Ohio State-9ppg He really is a joke. No one takes hm serious as even being an NBA player.
- Tiny Gallon Oklahoma-10ppg I believe he left, because all of the commotion with Capel vs TMG & Warren.
- Tommy Mason-Griffin Oklahoma– By far the worst 1 & Done decision in draft HISTORY!!!!! I have no idea what he was thinking & listening to the people he had supporting him. His big mistake was not transferring, because he was a 5’10 200 PG. Don’t get me wrong he was very talented, but he was a 4 year prospect.
- Daniel Orton Kentucky-3ppg I can’t be mad at him at all, because he went in the 1st Round, but he did not do anything in his lone year to warrant any consideration of a 1st Round pick.
- Lance Stephenson Cincinnati-12ppg His mental make up is what blocks all the building blocks in his situation. He definitely needed another year just to mature mentaly. In his mind he was NBA ready in the 8th grade so there was no doubt about him making the jump with all the exposure he got over the years.
- Hassan Whiteside Marshall-13ppg It’s nothing wrong with being the steal of the draft, but it’s a bad thing when you were considered a Lotto pick to go all the way in the 2nd Round. If he would have cameback this year he was a for sure lock for the Top 5.
My 1 & Done No-No’s for this year are……..
- Josh Selby Kansas-He is an on the borderline player as to make the jump, I’m sure he will put his name on the list, but he will comeback, once he realizes he is not going in the 1st Round & that he needs to prove more.
- C.J. Leslie NC State-I honestly don’t think it would be a good idea for him. He will not go in the 1st Round & he could end up being a D-League player if he comes out, but his coach just got fired so who knows what he is thinking. He still needs to upgrade his skills.
Who are your 1 & Done No-No prospects this year?

BKKnicksfanParticipantIf Selby and Leslie came out, both would be 1st round picks, but I agree that neither should come out

cheesepillowParticipantI agree with Leslie. As for Selby, not so sure. I think he can be a late 1st steal down the road if he gets groomed properly…with Spurs or Lakers?

Dale WorthingtonParticipantDEANDRE JORDAN!!!

Lotto StudParticipantThat’s a good enough reason for Selby not to come out. Why come out to be a late 1st Round pick, for a team such as the Spurs or Lakers & be glued to the bench. Selby will not get any burn with either of those teams. He is a Lotto type talent. Come out when you know you are a for sure Lotto projection. He is too talented for a Late 1st. That would be just straight greed of him to come out for that to happen. By the way greed is a sin & he will pay for it.

I guess, but he wouldn’t really be glued to the bench, he will be brought upon slowly by those teams. Selby cannot shoot and he’s a combo guard. He probably need a season to develop, but from what I seen, he’s going to have problems unless he improves that. He should watch Nolan Smith/ O.J. Mayo tape

cheesepillowParticipantWon’t argue with you there Memphis since that’s a matter of personal motives for Selby himself. Just saying what could happen if he does declare and hire agent. The two teams I mention would probably have an opening at PG down the road if they don’t acquire someone else first.
After all, doesn’t Selby struggle with school work? (not sure on this one)

Lotto StudParticipant- DeAndre Jordan- Most dominate Center in the game is Dwight Howard. Once DeAndre puts all the pieces together he will be in a arguement for being a Top 5 Center in the league.
Follow up for you, because I see nothing wrong with Jordan, but who are your 2011 No-No’s

Never heard of this being true, this is a first for me. You maybe getting him mixed up with his cuzzo Will Barton. Barton wasnot going to be eligible for grades, but he made it this year which I was proud to see. Grades may not even be a factor for him either since he was able to stay eligible all year & know returning for another. Please link me to Selby if you find one about him struggling in school.

cheesepillowParticipantMy bad,
After googling around, it was based on if the night classes he took were legit as opposed to him meeting academic requirements.

The lake show2of that list i see a bunch of players who would have shown there weakness if they would have came back. Examples
Harvey was never that skilled to begin with
Hargett wasnt that bright and wasnt a point guard
Orton wasnt that skilled either
Its always best to cash in when you can because chances are high that the longer you stay the more you’re stock goes down ( if you are considered a first rounder)

Lotto StudParticipantI can agree, but who do you view as 1 & Done No-No’s this year.

sheltwon3ParticipantI think staying another year can help a lot of players. I think staying 2 years tends to work out unless a player that was the best player leaves. I think Willie Warren came out too late and then came out too early. In this draft right now he would be a 1st rounder and would have had a better chance to get minutes. He really should have come out when Griffin left though. The only time I see people staying too long is if they stay to their Junior or Senior year and scouts focus on all their weaknesses.

Dale WorthingtonParticipantYo, DeAndre Jordan could have been a top 5 pick if he came back rather than 2nd round.

and1rodman91ParticipantIts a shame to watch these kids lose their career like this. I remember watching Lance at Lincoln, Gallon at Oak Hill and Mason Griffin at Madison. I swore I thought Lance was gonna be the next best thing in basketball but his attitude and thinking he was the best killed him to go to any college he wanted, Tiny Gallon was a beast!! in highschool, its unbelievable that he didnt turn out to be a star in college but he could’ve been if he stayed. And if anybody knows college basketball we all know mason griffin was the worst 1 and done ever. To even be considered to be a first round pick he has to stay all 4 years.
