I’m sure most people agree with this but I’d just like to point out: His solid performance in summer league means absolutely NOTHING!

We all knew he was an excellent college player, and the summer league is basically…a bunch of college players. Against legit NBA competition he is the same old unathletic miserable defender that he has been since he entered the NBA.

Is there anyone that actually thinks his performance this far is a sign of good things to come?

He won’t be successful if he is going to stay with the lakers his remaining career.

Very true….I don’t even think he can develop into an efficient scorer off the bench though.

I do. I like Morrison. People forget.

Rookie Season- 11ppg. 2nd season- Torn ACL, 3rd season- Traded.

He never got the chance to thrive as a backup. He can be a good shooter and a decent average.

I realize the injuries have obviously set him back, but even when he was averaging 11 a game in his rookie year he was shooting 38% and only 34% on his threes, nothing special at all. Not to mention he is a major defensive liability.

nope i dont think most people agree that it means absolutly nothing…not even a gm will tell you that..does it mean everything nope but it does show you if a player can play against better competition or if they are over a injury and it showns you signs of what a player can potenially do. liek knicks said morrison wasnt that bad as a rookie and then got hurt

key word…ROOKIE..just liek alo of starting rookie pg are also tops in the league in turnovers or dont play real good defense .morrison gave you a good indication that he could score..do ya’ll remeber some of these good players or even stars when they were rookies..i can think of a couple who werent that good at all in there rookie year an some that just looked flat out horrible

Most rookies that have athleticism and that play bad defense have to do with their awareness. Morrison has poor awareness and he’s very slow footed, and his ACL injury only made things worse. He isnt athletic enough to be more than an spot up shooter, and a below average one at that.

so what does that say about derozens defense if a guy thats slow and getting over a acl tear scores 24pts while not shooting awhole lot?..or the other 2 teams he hit up for 20 plus?..yes hes not that fast but he knows how to get his shot up..the nab has had a couple of players liek that..as long as you know how to get youre shot off as a shooter then you will be alright..cant really say much about his awareness when hes only played one full year and is only in his 3rd year…man id hate to be a player on ya” teams if i yall was a gm…i have not so good rookie year and id be cut…if i was joe johnson john salmons jermanie oneal i would be gone quick

Morrison is not a bust to me if he can find a team and play a solid role. I do think he was overhyped. That happens to a lot of great college players. His defense will always be subpar. His playmaking and offense should be solid as a 6 man or a glue guy for some team. It would seem like he has to get used to not having the ball in his hands as much. Also he will not overtake Luke Walton on the Lakers. If he wants to overtake Vujacic he will play defense better.

Adam Morrison isn’t the first offensive minded forward in the NBA who can’t play defense and he won’t be the last. There’s always room in the league for guys who can come off the bench, keep the defense honest, and shoot lights out.

I don’t know if Adam Morrison can actually do that in the NBA, but it’s his offense, not his defense, that will determine how much he plays in LA.

i dont like morrision period….that said he can play even though hes not the fastest or jumps the highest..there have been players like that liek larry bird and chris mullins..is he as good as them no but people who can shot and and score finds ways ..they have always had to deal with not being that fast or being able to jump high but they still have found weays to produce which is what morrison will do and peopel who do the basketball thing for a living obviously think that as well. and even though this is summer league he has shown that his shot has gotten more consitant and has been checked by kinsley, eric gordan, and derozen which are all nba players. so if some of ya’ll think morrison is as bad as ya’ll say he is that means gordan and derozens defense is alot worst then people think it is since morrison is slower and less athletic then the nba starters or even back ups that they will have to face

Derozan doesnt play good defense, so he didnt prove anything. And yesterday Alan Anderson was guarding Adam Morrison, I watched the game. Eric Gordon was guarding one of the Lakers no name players. Morrison wont be an NBA player, he should be the last player or 2nd to last player on the bench for mostly every team in the league. He is a lliability on the floor.

Verse Top notch talent he has a shot. If he does not, the kid is out of the league. He is a spot up shooter who struggles to get his shot off against longer faster guys when they are closing out on him. I do not think he is much of an NBA player. I thought he would be better coming in, but he is not. BUST. Situational player to spread the floor tops.

In college he was a lot more aggresive, played his hardest every second, and more athletic ( has to do with Torn ACL).

Now in the NBA he looks like he plays basketball just because he has to. I really wanted to see him become a good player.

I agree, you usually can’t take much from a player that performs well in the summer league.

However, it is better for Morrison to be playing well rather than him not playing well.

The fact he is playing well, scoring the ball does give him a shot still. I thought he would be a lot better, but he might not be all done if he is scoring 20 everynight even in summer league. In the end if he does not shoot better when the big boys get out there his NBA future is in doubt.

Even with his terrible athleticism, he could put up decent numbers if he was given minutes. But because he can not play D, he will never get minutes. If Given 35 mins he can average over 17 ppg. But they other team would win every time because he can’t defend.
