To make sure they had their destiny in their own hands, Rytas had to win the game and put any doubt of a finals appearance out of question. Coming out of the gates, they proved that they are the top of the class at this tournament by completely blowing out Gran Canaria in the first quarter (28-11) and the high scoring pace throughout the game. They ended up winning by 47 points, shooting 67% from the field and compiling 23 assists as a team. Their leading scorer was Ovidijus Varanauskas with 17 points, and then after him 6 other players got into the double digits. Top prospect Jonas Valanciunas finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds in just 19 minutes. For Gran Canaria, their best player and leader Oscar Alvarado had a tough game, finishing with 9 points, but he shot 2-9 from the field and had 7 turnovers to only 1 assist. Jonay Cazorola led Gran Canaria with 10 points. With the win, Rytas qualifies for the final game tomorrow at 12:00 pm at the O2 World Arena.

Game 10

Union Olimpjia 65 – KK Hemofarm 60

Seeing the large lead that Rytas got off to early, pretty much made the game meaningless for Hemofarm as they had no chance of extending their stay in Berlin. Adding to the situation was the injured ankle that key player Nemanja Knezevic suffered in the 2nd minute of the game. From there it was a back and forth battle, with Hemofarm leading by 7 at half, but they seemed totally fatigued and out of it in the 2nd half, which allowed Olimpjia to jump to a 4 point lead at the end of the 3rd and pull out the victory in the end. For Olimpjia, bigman Nejc Buda led the way with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Mirza Sarajljija was able to find his stroke down the stretch, and he finished with 13 points on 4-13 shooting from 3PT, he also added 5 assists. Danilo Andusic was top scorer for Hemofarm with 16 points, and Petar Lambic added 14 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort.

Game 11

FMP 78 – Montepaschi Siena 61

FMP was the second team that had the opportunity to control their fate, and after a closely contested 1st quarter by Montepachi, they were able to win the 2nd quarter 21-8 and leave all doubt of a finals appearance behind them. With the 17 point win, FMP booked a spot in the finals versus Lituvos Rytas tomorrow afternoon. For FMP it was Dejan Musli that lead the way with 23 points (8-11 FG) and 14 rebounds. Branislav Dekic added 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks in just 19 minutes. For Monepaschi, Nunzio Sabbatino had 17 points, 5 rebounds, while Antonio Iannuzzi and Nika Metreveli added 14 apiece.

Game 12

Unicaja 74 – Alba Berlin 62

Even though this game had very little meaning for either team, both squads played with a lot of pride and battled it out for the majority of the game. Thanks to some great outside shooting, Alba jumped to a 7 point 1st quarter lead, but Unicaja was able to take the lead by winning the 2nd and 3rd quarters by 19 points. In the end, Unicaja proved that they were the better team, taking the game by and easy 12 points. The winning side was lead by Jose Pozas who had 16 points, while Augusto Lima was once again very good, going for 13 points and 12 rebounds. On the losing side, Malte Ziegenhagen continued to show his nice stroke, hitting a number of shoots from long range, and finishing with 16 points. Niels Giffey was solid with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Even though Alba finished 0-3 for the tournament, they continued to play hard, and as a result game the opposition some very tough matches.
