NBA Comparison: Nikoloz Tskitishvili

Joshua Motenko – 5/17/2006

Strengths: A very talented and smart player. Negrizolli is a decent overall athlete with a great vertical leap, making him a very good shot blocker on his man. Also gets off the floor quickly for blocks coming from off the ball. Offensively, Tiago can really shoot the ball. He jumps high to get his shot off, and is accurate from the perimeter. Doesnt often test his range as he is used to playing down low. He can score well in the post with his left or right hand. He has some nice post moves including a great jump hook, and he likes using ball fakes to get his man off balance and set up the score. Runs the floor very well for a big man, and can finish on the break. His shooting ability coupled with his athleticism make him a very intriguing 17 year old prospect.

Weaknesses: Negrizolli does not fit an NBA position because he doesn`t have the lateral quickness to guard small forwards, but also is not strong enough to play post defense against older or bigger players. Moreover, he will not be developing small forward skills in Brazil, since coaches here have him living in the post (especially defensively) because of his height and ability to play above the rim. He is very thin, and needs strength training especially in his upper body. His leaping ability allows him to be a decent rebounder, but he gets pushed around on the block easily, and this will be a major problem at the next level. He is very unassuming on the court, as he spends a lot of time hunched over. This is just one interesting performance habit that impedes his development a bit. His coach likes to say that he moves in slow motion, but how that manifests itself on the court is that he is not prepared in posture or intensity for being involved in and adjust to each play when it happens. Getting a more consistently aggressive mentality is an identified area to focus on during his training.

Notes: Tiago has switched sport clubs recently because he didnt get along with the coach of his old team.

Vinicius Panerari – 1/13/2006

Strengths: Versatility. Can play multiple positions on his current level, but his normal position is at the SF spot … Has impressive size, wingspan and great leaping ability … A great offensive weapon playing at SF … A perfect combination of athleticism and almost perfect fundaments (skills), a complete package … Has a developing 3 point shot range, excellent footwork, good body control, and runs the court like a 6-5 guy … A very difficult player to defend because he can beat taller guys off the dribble (usually with incredible dunks) or finish near the basket against smaller defenders using his size with a large number of post moves (hooks, turnarounds). Very active on both sides, great rebounder and an excellent shot blocker. Great individual talent, a triple double type of player. He’s an NBA talent for sure.

Weaknesses: Motivation is his big question mark, when he wants to play its almost impossible to stop him … Needs to add a nastier attitude to his game understanding how to use better his talent and to be more intense … He’s improved a lot at this point this year but has a long way to go … Needs to be more careful with fouls and work to gain more consistency on his outside shot.

Notes: Member of the Brazilian junior team since 15 years old, one of the most heralded players in his country. Has good experience playing since the age of 15 with pro team and in international competitions with the Brazilian National team. Has been the target of several Spanish teams, was invited to play in Spanish summer leagues this year and was the younger player in the competition. One of the top stars of adidas latin america superstar camp.
