7 - Narcisse Ngoy

NBA Comparison: DeSagana Diop
Strengths: Narcisse Ngoy is a goliath of a man, checking in somewhere in the neighborhood of 270 pounds, and brings rare physicality, length, and defensive upside to the frontcourt … Projects first and foremost as a rim protector, using his reported 7-foot-3 wingspan, timing, and sheer size to alter shots and discourage opponents from attacking the paint … Covers ground well around the basket and has the tools to anchor an NBA defense … His massive frame allows him to overpower opposing big men, absorb contact, and establish deep position on both ends of the floor … Plays with a relentless motor and embraces the physical aspects of the game … One of the fastest-rising international prospects after earning French Pro B MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Most Improved Player honors during the 2025-26 season … Mobile enough to defend away from the basket in short stretches and shows solid instincts rotating as a help defender … Rebounds aggressively on both ends of the floor and consistently creates extra possessions through effort and strength … Finishes efficiently around the rim on dunks, drop-offs, put-backs, and lob opportunities without requiring touches called for him … Sets crushing screens that create separation for teammates and understands his role offensively … Brings an old-school, blue-collar mentality that coaches value … Still has room to grow offensively, making him an intriguing long-term developmental prospect whose defensive impact gives him legitimate NBA appeal.
Weaknesses: Ngoy’s offensive game is extremely raw and currently offers very little beyond finishing plays created by teammates … Lacks polished post moves, touch, and reliable scoring instincts with the ball in his hands … Has not shown the ability to stretch the floor and offers virtually no perimeter shooting threat at this stage … Free throw shooting does little to suggest future shooting upside … Limited face-up game and struggles to create offense for himself … Passing vision and offensive feel remain underdeveloped … While reasonably mobile for a player his size, he is not particularly fast and lacks the explosiveness of many NBA centers … Can labor changing directions and may struggle defending quicker lineups in space … Footwork on both ends still requires considerable refinement … Despite his success in France’s Pro B, there are legitimate questions about whether his offensive skill level will ever be enough to earn consistent NBA minutes … At this stage he is valued primarily for his physical tools, defensive potential, and toughness rather than his basketball skill level, making him a significant long-term project … There is no guarantee his game develops enough offensively to become more than a situational reserve.
Outlook: One of the more intriguing boom-or-bust international prospects in the 2026 NBA Draft. His combination of size, strength, length, toughness, and rim protection gives him a pathway to an NBA role if his offensive game develops. Selected by the Clippers in the second round (57th), he represents a patient, long-term investment whose value could ultimately exceed his draft position if his skill level catches up to his physical tools. There are shades of former NBA center DeSagana Diop in his game with his massive frame, defensive mentality, and rim-protecting ability, although Ngoy is not quite as quick or mobile as Diop was entering the league … Entered the 2026 NBA Draft as an automatic international entrant despite previously agreeing to a reported $1.9 million NIL deal with Auburn … Creates a unique draft-and-develop situation in which the Clippers own his NBA rights while he remains eligible to spend the next couple of seasons developing at Auburn …
Notes: 7’7 wingspan … Ngoy was named French Pro B MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Most Improved Player during the 2025-26 season … Played for the French national team youth program … Projects as a true center despite occasionally being listed as a forward … It is a creative long-term strategy that allows Los Angeles to monitor his progress in a high-level college program before deciding when he is ready to make the jump to the NBA … His French club reportedly has a $300,000 buyout should he bypass the NCAA route.
