NBA Comparison: Linus Kleiza

Matthew Maurer – 12/1/2006

Strengths: Possesses legit NBA three point range on his jumper which is unique for a player his size and position Underrated rebounder who does a great job of boxing out his man to get position under the glass Plays the game with toughness and has a hard nosed demeanor. Loves getting physical and mixing it up in the low post Has improved on his conditioning this past year Ball handling ability is surprisingly solid and improving Defensively he does a great job of keeping his body between the player and the basket Upper body strength enables him to disrupt power forwards from gaining solid position in the post Shows quick hands which enables him to poke or snatch passes thrown into the post Physically he has the tools needed to refine his post skills Soft hands, catches most passes and doesnt bobble or lose control
of the ball … Shows soft touch around the basket where he does a decent job of finishing Not a great runner of the court but a decent one who has improved greatly over the years

Weaknesses: Athletically hes doesnt possess a great deal of quickness nor leaping ability Lacks court awareness as Teletovic has a tendency to make multiple mental mistakes in games Tends to be a little too perimeter oriented in games instead of getting his shots off in the low post Because of this Teletovic does not draw fouls and get to the free throw line enough Court vision remains below average which does affect his passing Lacks the leaping ability to get rebounds out of position Back to basket skills are in need of refinement Defensively his lateral quickness is below average Position wise he is best suited for the power forward spot But in some aspects he is a tweener, slow at the small forward position and lacks size at the power forward position

Aran Smith – 3/24/2006

Strengths: Very tough, physical player who enjoys inside play … Has the toughness and brute strength of a football player …… Best suited to play inside, but has some wing skills with a nice shot out to 18 feet … Very aggressive and offensive minded … Intimidating presence … Has improved upon his quickness in the past year … At the Reebok camp in Treviso in June of 2005 he was around 254 pounds and too bulked up. Since then he has dropped 15-20 pounds and become much quicker and more athletic … Has developing offensive moves and a nice turn around jump shot … Good hands, catches bad passes and snatches rebounds … Has a nice first step offensively … Shoots 32% from 3 … Has decent ball handling ability … Good free throw shooter, but should look to get to the line more often …

Weaknesses: A tweener, doesn’t fit a position well as he’s best suited to play power forward but lacks great length … He has lost a lot of weight in an apparent effort to become a SF, but his game is best suited to inside play … Must tone his game down some, can get carried away trying to do too much … Must become more consistent … Decision making is not always great … His shot selection must improve, gets carried away taking too many off balance jump shots and three pointers … Has bad court vision and no real passing ability … His mobility suffers some when he gets over 240 pounds … Lacks the lateral speed to defend on the perimeter … Does not get great playing time at just 22 min per game …
