NBA Comparison: James Jones

Adi Joseph – 3/20/2007

Strengths: Martin is a smooth, talented wing with good court savvy … He’s got good fundementals and a sweet stroke … Defensively, he has improved dramatically since his junior year, when he was awful … He is an underrated passer who is surrounded by poor offensive players that limit his assist totals … At 6-7, Martin has the build of an ideal shooting guard … His jump shot is very natural and he has a good release point, and he finds ways to get good looks at the basket … His offensive game consists mostly of catch and shoot, which he does well … He has four years of experience, including one under coaching legend Bob Huggins, and it shows in his maturity.

Weaknesses: Nothing stands out as extaordinary for Martin … While his jump shot is above average, it probably isn’t good enough for him to hold down a roster spot as a shooting specialist … His athleticism is very average, and he could use a few pounds of muscle … Martin doesn’t seem natural driving to the basket, as his ball handling is below par … Because of his lack of athleticism and his already polished game, there is the question as to whether he can really impove much … Was suspended early in his senior season for “unspecified conduct violations” …
