NBA Comparison: Tim Thomas

Matthew Maurer – 1/25/2007

Strengths: Extremely mobile player who runs the court like a guard Great shot blocker who is an excellent help defender Great body potential in that with added weight his mobility and athleticism will not be compromised Offensively his skills are quite advanced Mid-range shooting can extend out to 18 feet and hit with regularity Shows soft touch on his shots Although almost a dying art form Wyatt has the Tim Duncan bank shot in his face up game Possesses three point range on his jumper For his size he is a great ball handler capable of using cross overs to gain separation from his man Tremendous out of position rebounder due to his long arms and foot speed Defensively he has the physical tools to develop into a stopper: long arms, decent athleticism, quick hands and mobility Smart player who has a high basketball IQ Creates mismatch problems due to his versatility Great finisher around the basket Does a good job when getting the ball in the post of keeping the ball high and not putting it on the floor Unselfish almost to a fault Plays the game with good intensity and has a mean streak Only played two years of organized basketball in high school has loads of potential

Weaknesses: Wyatts most glaring weaknesses have to do with his lack of upper body strength and bulk But to his credit he has improved greatly this past year Poor free throw shooter Doesnt always get good position in the post as he tends to get pushed off the blocks At times he tends to overthink his moves and hesitate giving his defender time to adjust Needs to work on sealing off his man better when rebounding Back to basket moves are still in need of refinement Struggles to finish after contact when attacking the basket Could stand to work on his timing as he tends to bite on pump fakes Can be a little foul prone when guarding physical players in the post To some degree Wyatt is a tweener who will need to decide on a position Lacks strength body wise to play power forward and will need to work on perimeter defense at the small forward position Some will naturally talk about his level of competition But to his credit in two exhibition games played against division one talent Wyatt has averaged 30 PPG and 7.5 RPG
