Now that Lakers got AD, but gutted team this would be my ideal way to round out their roster. Add Kawhi Leonard with max, sign Bojan Bogdanovic with mid level, add these players on league minimum deals Robin Lopez, Marcus Morris, Wesley Matthews, Derrick Rose, Rajon Rondo.

    Depth Chart
    C Anthony Davis/Robin Lopez/Mo Wagner
    PF Kyle Kuzma/Marcus Morris
    SF Lebron James/Bojan Bogdanovic
    SG Kawhi Leonard/Wesley Matthews
    PG Derrick Rose/Rajon Rondo/Isaac Bonga

I’d be looking at signing at least 3 of Teague, JJ Redick, Ellington and Pat Beverley.

I rather have another max guy (Kawhi, Kyrie, Kemba, Butler), which means they wouldn’t be able to afford one of those guys.

They will have James, Davis, Kuzma, Wagner & Bonga under contract if I’m not mistaken & about $36mil in cap space still remaining.

They still have plenty of coin to go after another high end free agent or get some nice players & build a bit of depth, particularly at both guard spots.

I’d personally look at guys like Terrence Ross, Darren Collison & the like. James, Davis & Kuzma is plenty of star power, they need to make sure the roster has depth.
Guys like George Hill, Thabo Sefolosha, Jeff Green, Markieff Morris are all guys who you could round out a roster with quite cheaply.

They will have 27-32 mil depending on the timing of the trade and if AD waives his trade kicker.  They are about $200,000 below a max contract right now.

Leonard wouldn’t want to come to the Lakers, but if he would they won’t have the money for Bogdanovic.

Rose should also want more than around the 3 million he got this year.

Get a quality star guard for the remaining money and round it with some young free agents that make might help you if they develop, maybe a Jevon Carter or Timothee Luwawu.

Leonard doesn’t want to go to the Lakers? Where are you getting that from considering no1 has any insight on what he and his camp are  planning. L

I am sure there will be 100s of rumor signing by all the Lakers fan boys between now and start of the season…..

    Derrick Favors

    report —-

According to Tony Jones of The Athletic, Derrick Favors has elicited "rumblings of interest" from the Los Angeles Lakers.

Favors has long expressed his desire to remain with the Jazz, but the pending free agent could have to move on if Utah looks in another direction and does not pick up his option. Favors’ option for the 2019-20 season is worth $16.9 million. As for the Lakers, they’re in a position where they need to fill out the roster after acquiring Anthony Davis from the Pelicans. Favors would be an attractive option given his proficiency in the pick-and-roll game, either rolling all the way to the basket or popping out for mid-range jumpers.

Shooting, shooting, shooting. Do NOT resign Rondo. He can’t let go of the ball and he shouldn’t have it.

I’d say they have to go depth. Just round the roster out with some guys who can hit threes and defend well. Lebron and AD will have the ball in their hands the majority of the time anyway.

If they got Beverly that would be a huge add. But they don’t need Kyrie or Kawhi anymore. I think they just need to get 3 or 4 guys who can be good off ball guys.

If they get either Butler or Kyrie they can claim success. Under the radar value and fit after that..

Rubio – now that he hits 3s

    Brogdon

    Cauley-Stein

Resign Pope and McGee maybe even Stevenson

People have to get their head around that Brogdon is deinitely getting a 4-year $80 million offer, and it very well could be north of that to make Milwaukee think long and hard about whether to match. He isn’t just some little novelty stand in the corner shooter. He checks all the boxes as a guard, and teams will pay him as such.

I think Brogdon is looking more at a 4 year 48mil type deal, but he is def. not a league minimum or MLE type guy.  If Lakers target non-max guys I rather have them make a run at Khris Middleton at around 25mil per and then make a run with the remaining 7 mil at guys like:  Brook Lopez, Willy Cauley Stein, Jabari Parker, Terrence Ross.

Look at the number of teams with cap space, and then figure there is going to be a premium on what a team offers because the Bucks have the right to match.

It isn’t as if Brogdon will have a limited pool of teams interested. Rebuilding teams like Atlanta and Chicago could very well cast their full lot on him figuring that even if they overpay they have enough players on the rookie scale over the next few years that really overpaying won’t hurt them all that much. Brogdon might be looked at in Utah, Indiana, and Dallas as an ideal backcourt partner to Mitchell, Oladipo, and Doncic. The Clippers would look incredibly formidable with a SGA/Brogdon/Kawhi/Gallinari/Harrell/Lou top of the rotation. If the Knicks continue to whiff on every star target… I wouldn’t wish that on Brogdon.

3 and D guys. Defense win championships and it keeps you in the game. Right now, the Lakers don’t have that sure A.D blocks shots well but his teams aren’t that good defensively so yeah. E.g. Danny Green, Wes Matthews among others.

I think my first call would be Kemba Walker. He was a stellar one man show in Charlotte last season and his game would be a great fit alongside Lebron and AD. After that I’m seeking out the best shooters I can sign with the hopes of getting at least one knock down shooter to alleviate pressure from my stars.

I’d really be careful about who I brought in to play with Lebron. Anyone who plays with Lebron needs to be strong without the ball and has to be able to catch and shoot.

Only sign 1 year players, that way when AD leaves after the season, you have cap room.

Neither AD or LBJ played the full season this year. Injuries will be a factor (ahem GSW ahem) so you need more capable bodies.

George Hill, Terry Rozier, call Tony Parker for one more year…
Korber, Ellington etc on the wing
Thad Young down low, perhaps Covington…
Call Orlando about their overflow of bigs
    Call Portland about Jake Layman…

I think that Reddick will have interest, Taj Gibson, Paul Millsap even perhaps. Don’t forget that David West turned down a guaranteed $10 million to take minimum with GSW a few years back.

I could see Tyson Chandler being asked to stay asv a veteran presence, they might even think outside the box are there any solid Euro guys who could come over for something around minimum and do 10 to 15mpg around the main guys.

Philly and Atlanta have multiple second rounders so might the Lakers use some money to buy a pick or two in order to get a college senior or a good younger prospect who has fallen down the draft.

A LOT of work to do….

9 players to sign, 3 starters, 7 of your initial 10 mens rotation….then you can always grab one or two players bought out in february, there will be decent players, as usual.

I think the 11-14th guys should be Caruso, Williams, Wagner, Bonga,

Lebron and AD are your starting forwards, AD will play some C obviously but not full time(protect him), Kuzma is your elite 6th men.

Find the other 7 players, a dynamic starting guard(good luck with that), shooters, glue guys, hustlers, pros, smart, reliable guys.

I’d start with benchers, McGee(Back up C), Carroll(blue collar, Lebron’s back up), Curry(off guard, elite shooter).

They’re pretty set in the frontcourt, you can always find bodies anyway, it will be their strength but i’m very curious to see their starting backcourt, guards overall, last year 7 guards are gone for good or FA.

3pt shooting and wing defense, Davis alone can’t compensate for their lack of wing defense. Lakers shouldn’t let LBJ or hope that he can guard the other teams best player like he was 28 years old. He cannot use his energy on that side of the ball. Bring a guy who can defend multiple positions and can hit the 3pt shot. They also need guards who can playmake from time to time and shoot the 3 efficiently, the likes of seth and reddick is much needed.
