Should The Warriors Trade Stephen Jackson Before the Season Starts?

well, I have to kind of laugh at “now that his value is pretty high”. His value is at an all time low right now. From what I’ve been hearing, teams not only want to give the warriors a bad contract in exchange, but they also want the warriors to throw in some of their own draft picks. So far, the warriors have said all offers have been “laughable”. Of course the warriors would love to trade Jackson, problem is who is gona take him.

Funny thing I just read the other day, Chris Mullin wanted to ship Jackson out of town a year ago for Tayshaun Prince and had the deal in place. But the warriors owner instead fired Mullin then convinced Jackson to fire his agent and then worked out a deal directly with Jackson for the extension. Now that it is a year later and Steven wants out, it’s kinda funny how it all back fired on the warriors owner.

the cleveland trade wont happen on many levels one of which is that the cavs want big z in case haw gets hurt( likely) and they got the 2 big men so they can handle orlando and l.a if they make it to the finals… ive heard that dallas are thinking about it but only after seeing how howrd plays at the 2 and plays period with the new team they have…baically gs cant get rid of jackson before the season unless they buy him out. im not sure that would have been a good move to get prince..prince is the type of player that will thrive on certain teams like the spurs, magic,celtics. reall good teams that let him focus more on d and a lil bit on offense and also have some help on d which makes him better..wit gs he would have had to try to score more and been the only reall defense of option on the wing

It’s not a matter of “should they”, it’s “can they” and I just don’t think they can. Nobody will be willing to trade for him and his contract as of right now while it’s still so early. If he’s going to get traded, I think it’ll be around the trade deadline.

They need to try to find someone that would trade for him.

yeah can they is the better question..and you know teams are gonna try to seriously low ball them ince they know jackson doent wanna be there and gs prob doesnt want him there if he’s gonna continue to act like he is( i was defending him before i knew about the fouling on purpose and foulding out in 10min..uncalled for..reguardless how you feel about the organization you play for you should never bring it on to the court

DAL, HOU, SAS or NYK
I don’t see the texas triangle making a trade 4 him
or NYK because that does nothing to help the Knicks with Lebron/playoffs

I see him getting paid to sit at home ala Jamaal Tinsley

my thoughts, the warriors obviously want to get rid of him, but they shouldn’t take a big hit if someone tries to low ball them on a offer. A buy out is not an option either. As long as Steven is there, they should just play him and hopefully he does his job. If he is motivated, then he still can be a borderline all-star. Guys like Monta and Randolph need to step up their leadership more now then ever, because it appears that Jackson has checked out from that department.

I think that Stephen Jackson would be a great fit in Toronto, if they can get him for Marcus Banks’ crappy contract, DeRozan, Toronto’s first round pick (unprotected), and a 3 million dollar bench player. I think there’s enough there for GS to pull the trigger because Jackson basically will be of negative value to the Warriors if he stays. This move will open up pt for DeRozan, Curry, and Morrow, who all need PT to get to where they want to be. This trade also gives GS a first round pick (probably 15-20). GS will probably have to buy out Banks (it’ll be of much lesser value than a Jackson buyout) , but they get a guy with a lot of potential in DeRozan (they’re not going to be challenging for the finals until a few years later), A nice bench player (probably someone like Amir Johnson), and a mid 1st draft pick in a DEEP draft.

As for Toronto, I think if this trade if pulled off, they’re right there with the wizards as the next tier of elite Eastern Conference Teams.

thats a horrible trade..jackson does have that many years left for one then you gonna give up a rookie with alot of potenial and a 1st round draft pick..this is stephen jackson not micheal jackson..hes not worth that much

yeah, I think the warriors would cream their pants if the Raptors offered them that trade.

I think Toronto would do this trade because it would mean they are probably the best offensive team in the east as everyone is a veteran shooter with good percentages.

If Toronto did get Jackson, they’d be a better team, hands down, as they currently have the rookie DeRozan as the starting SG. If you want to do well, You definitely need a legit SG (like Jackson). With this trade, Toronto would be competing for the second Round right now, instead of waiting on DeRozan to develop.

No doubt, Jackson makes Toronto a better team, this might lure Bosh to stay because he’s not going to find a better supporting cast anywhere else.

Jackson is 31 and has been acting like headcase. I doubt too many teams would throw a promising young player like Derozan and a future 1st rounder out for him and his contract. He is good, but he is a low percentage shooter and his stats were inflated by the Nellie offense.

yeah they would be a better team but not a team thats gonna seriously contend for the title and if thats the case you dont give up a promising youre player and draft pics just so you can be number 3 or below in the east..that makes no sense and im sure toronto wouldnt make that deal because if they felt the deal was that sweet they would be proposing it
