The end of an era

yeah, it will suck losing some legends. Kobe has said he will play until he is 40 and they will literlay have to kick him out the league, so I’m holding him to that. But there will always be new guys just how Jordan, Olajuwon, Malone and Barkley were replaced by today’s stars. The game continues to evolve and the league as a whole should only get better.

I agree with you on that one. The NBA is going to have its next generation of superstars even if guys like Kobe and LeBron will call it quits…

I am just worried about one thing and that is expanding the league to Europe… David Stern said its a good possibility but WHY? Why do they need to expand? Should they do it, there is the tendency that the NBA will be a watered-down league in the future and I don’t want that happening. There’s no need for the so-called “Expansion”… Having teams like London Knights? Madrid Barons or whoever? That’s not what I envisioned about the NBA… I like what they are doing now like having pre-season games against European teams which is fine and having also 4 teams getting exhibition games in Europe… That’s all OK for me. I’m just hoping its a wishful thinking because if they do the word National from the National Basketball Association will not make any sense… Consider me selfish but that’s just me…

I don’t care if they put teams over seas. I just wonder if it is profittable. I’t one thing to fly around the U.S. but to fly over seas takes a lot of time and energy from the players. I also have to wonder if the current facilities like the arenas and practice gyms over there are capable of holding an nba team.

Imagine adjusting to time zones and all that jet lag the players have to go through. That has to be brutal.

Good point, game scheduling would be a nightmare with all the different time zones, and the schedule would be incredibly brutal, an 82 game season is long enough, but when you are making 15 hour flights to play a game and then flying 15 back the next day it’d just be too much for the players. I like it for exibition and preseason, like Fizer, but even of the 2 Canada teams only one is there 15 years after expansion.
