I just watched the Lakers vs Warriors on back to back games thursaday and Friday. And Stephen looks like he is quitting on his team.

Just 1 year ago Stephen signed a long term extension with Golden State and still has 4 years and 40 million coming to him. Now this off season, he has already made it public on numerous occasions that he wants to be traded. Not a good sign especially coming from the team captain and one of the few veterans on the squad.

In thursdays game, he looked awful. He shot 1-9 and was continuously getting on his teammates for blown defensive coverages. He looked just unhappy on the court. In Fridays game, he got into it with Kobe, all 3 refs and picked up 5 fouls and 1 tech in the first 8 minutes of the game. He was yelling at someone, whether it be teammates, the refs or kobe the entire first quarter. Finally, Don Nelson had enough of it and called a timeout with 3 minutes left in the first quarter and he and Stephen proceeded to get into a face to face shouting match. Don then sent Stephen to the locker room where he remained the rest of the game. He finished 1-3 in 9 minutes.

I know it’s early, but it looks like now that he is paid, he is quitting on his team.

They have so much talent on their team and at least 4 long term contracts that look unmovable except for Biedrins. Teams would be interested in Biedrins but not Jackson, Maggette or Ellis. It’s to bad because I’ve always liked this team but it looks like they’re headed for an even tougher year even with Curry. They need to try to trade some of their guards because you can’t have that many guards on their team. Even if it means trade someone for solely expiring contracts and maybe a pick or 2 if they get lucky but it’ll be hard for Golden State.

Also, not trying to beat a dead horse, but Stephen Curry does not look that good. In the 2 games against the lakers, he has shot a combined 6-22, has had trouble beating guys off the dribble and has looked mediocre on defense. Yes, he is smart has a beautiful stroke and reads the court well. But he just does not have anything that makes think nba starter. And I’m not basing that just off these preseason games becuase I was saying that before the draft.

^ Very true about Curry, he’s not a starter in the NBA unless you want to suck.

But Jackson isn’t looking like much, and that 4 yr/40 mil on his deal is enough to scare teams away. I mean, would you want a player that’s notoriously a problem for that much, especially with how poorly he’s performing going into the season? He will be a huge problem for them, and possibly a nightmare if no one takes him.

“because we don’t want to suck”

those are the exact words my highschool coach gave me when I asked why I wasn’t getting any playing time.

I was only send in the game when my team is winning by 30…

The thing about this is that the 40Mil is so big and he still has four years left! He is not getting any younger and he isn’t getting any stronger… I thought the Warriors made a bad business deal and I think they are making their organization poorer than ever. Oh well, we’ll just have to wait until 2020 before they can even make the playoffs…

I think they have just completely destroyed everything that they started to build up, but that seems to happen with them. They have too many guys that are overpaid on that team. I mean they overpaid Murphy and Dunleavy, but managed to trade them, then they decided to overpay Maggette, Jackson, etc. I remember the ridiculous salary that Adonal Foyle used to make for them, as well as them wanting to overpay for Dampier. They can thank the Mavs for saving them on that one. I honestly think that they have tradeable contracts, but any trades they make, they are always going to get the worse end of the deal as far as talent is concerned or they are going to have to package the contract with cheaper and younger players like a Curry or Randolph. I could see other teams asking for them to throw in a first rounder if they wanted them to take Corey Maggette.

To solve the problem I would sit Jackson on the bench all season.  I really would.  Let Morrow start & play lots of minutes.  Who cares if they lose a ton of games.  That will just give them a high lottery pick in the draft.  Might as well try to develop the young talent.  If Ellis starts crying again I would bench him too & let Curry start.

I think their are some teams that would take Jackson &or Eliis in a trade.  A trade would be best for Golden State definitely.  Might as well trade Maggette too while they are at it haha.

ok this is getting a lil out of hand..stephen is never a killer player in preeaon..wasnt here in san an or in indy..alot of players dont look real interested in preseason..but when regular season comes they step there game up alot. also i like curry but he shooting hasnt been looking that great..he does look like he can play the point though. hes been the only guard out there who is looking and finding the open man. some of ya’ll need to look at other things besides just scoring. there are other rookies who didnt look that great after there first games also…d.blair being one of them

I think Stephen Jackson will be fine on a good team. He plays solid d, he can shoot, handle the ball and pass some. I think he would be a great player for anyone that ends up meeting Orlando in the post season because he could match up with any of their 2s, 3s, and he can guard most of their 4s if you want to go smaller. He’s a nice fill in the blanks guy. I think like most players he saw GS dangle a bunch of money in front of him and snatched it, but I hate when guys take the money especially knowing they are in bad situations and then demand a trade. As far as sitting him, Ellis and Maggette, then you are just asking for a mutiny plus you are destroying any trade value that they might have. I think Jackson has the most trade value of the 3, especially at the trade deadline. He was a part of what I would consider the best Spurs team to date and is going to be a huge addition if anyone pulls the trigger.

Don’t put too much stock in the preseason, especially for veterans. It’s like a glorified pickup game for most of these guys. I think Summer League is way more important because a lot more of the guys have something to prove and are giving it their all because they want to secure a spot on a team.

I didn’t see the game, but it sounds like Jackson acted a fool. I’m not really surprised though. He’s always been sort of a head case to me.

He’s a professional and his team’s captain, so he needs to carry himself better than this. He’s not being a very good example for the young guys and is setting the wrong tone to start the season. I had a problem with how he voiced his displeasure with the organization and desire to be traded through the media this past summer. There’s a right and wrong way to do it. First of all, he’s the one who signed his signature on that contract extension last season. If he wasn’t happy with the team, he shouldn’t have signed it. Second, he should’ve brought his displeasure and desire to be traded to the Golden State front office instead of the media. I can’t stand it when players, coaches or organizations go through the media. Jackson just sounds confused… He said he’d like to be traded to a contender during the summer and then turns around and says “I’d play for the Knicks”, which has to be the biggest contradicition in human history.

It may be difficult to move him considering his contract, but I’d grant him his wish. There’s a rumor that the Warriors have offered Jackson to the Cavs for Zydrunas Illgauskas. It’s not a great deal for the Warriors talent wise considering Illgauskas is 34 and doesn’t fit in their system… However, they’ll get his expiring contract and clear up backcourt space for Curry and Morrow. The Cavs would get a starting big versatile guard/forward to help LeBron. Who knows what Delonte West’s status is, so it’d be a great pickup for them.

We hate him now. We want him out for good. As for Curry, you guys are forgetting how many assists he’s racking up. And his defense has been better then expected. Ellis once again looks amazing and Randolph’s future is looking real bright. We just want Maggette and Jackson gone

but why are people hating on him when no one knows what the organization ha done to him?..and why is he considered a head case tezo?..cuz of the fight back in the day defending his teammate with the pacers? gs made him captian, the spurs wanted to keep him but couldnt afford him so how much of a head case is he?..whats the proof that he is a head case?..and how many other players in history ask to be traded?..kobe,shaq,barkley,amare, and even gs own monta ellis etc….aslo nateoak10..you hate him and want him out not all of warrior fan because i have many friend who are warrior fans who dont want him gone. also if he really was such a head case gs would be killing there selfs trying to trade or buy him out but they are standing pat and want to keep and change his mind about being traded. hell id want to get traded to if i played for them. they arent that good and havnt been for a min other then there playoff run and they are obviously in rebuilding mode and the last thing a older player who has a couple good years left in him wants is to go through rebuilding while his last good years are left…and im guessing hed want to play for the knicks becaue he thinks(like some delusional knicks fan here) that they will get all these great players next ummer and be a contender

Lets not be silly, Stephen Jackson isn’t some saint. You have to remember he’s been suspended for the strip club incident were he shot the gun, the Palace brawl, he gets ejected alot more than the average player, and even when he doesn’t get ejected he racks up alot of technicals. And then you have him acting the way he is now. He’s not some player that keeps his nose clean and stays out of trouble or complaining no matter how it effects the team. There’s always a reason someone is called a “headcase”, its not because everyone wants to make fun of Stephen Jackson.

I’m not hating on Jackson. He just signed a contract extension last season and has 4 years and $40 MILLION coming to him. He’s this young team’s captain and leader… He’s a professional. There’s a way he needs to carry himself. The young guys are watching, so it was unexcusable how he acted during Friday’s game versus the Lakers. Remember, he’s the leader and is setting the tone for the upcoming season.

I don’t understand what he’s so unhappy about. I mean, there hasn’t been much that has changed since he signed that extension. I don’t know what the Warriors have done to him. I’m just saying there’s a right and a wrong way to approach something. Going through the media was the wrong thing to do, especially considering he’s the team captain. He should’ve brought his concerns to the front office. Regardless of the situation, this is his job and he’s getting paid BIG bucks… Now that the season has started, he needs to focus on his job and play. If a trade happens, it happens. If he’s so unhappy that he just can’t get himself up to play basketball for the Warriors and collect that fat check, then maybe he needs to just sit out and not play. It doesn’t make any sense to be a distraction.

I’m a Pacers fan and had season tickets during his time with the Pacers. I supported him and I still think he’s a very good player. In my opinion, he’s a head case though. You’re not from Indianapolis, so you don’t know about all the other incidents. He was right there with Jamaal Tinsley at the strip clubs and getting into gun fights. In one situation, he fired a semi-automatic weapon into the air.

technical fouls has more to do with emotions then headcases. and one incident off the court makes him a head case…if thats the case there are alot of head cases in the nba and kobe would prob lead the paack if we count techs and off the court incidents.. granted hes no saint but i wouldn’t go so far as to say hes a head case im im pretty sure most if not all nba teams feel the same way. the spurs are one of the best organizations as far as making sure someone isnt a headcase before signing them and yet they did there evaluation then signed him then wanted to resign him. alot of players get bad raps for saying they wanna get traded and even though they may go about it the wrong way its still there honest opinion. the players try to keep it in houe but when you have reporters asking you every day all day do you wanna get traded do you want this comment on this eventually some players peak there mind. it a catch 22 because if the player gives the generic answer or no comment people say they are stuck up or boring(tim duncan) but if they finally speak there mind after being badgered then they are wrong. so do we want players to speak there mind or not. and truth be told the organizations are the ones whop leak to the pres about a player wanting to be traded before the player even says anything to the press but since its a unamed source its not highly covered.

and for those who dont know he did bring it to the front office first then someone from the front office leaked the conversation he had with them about his concerns…its easy to over look but when you hear/read about omeone wanting a trade notice how they say sources say so and so wants to be traded. the same sources who leak about a trade going down when only the high up know about it. when the players are asked they are like” i didnt even know they were shopping me”.. like i said im not saying these players are saints but the organizations need to be held accountable first for letting conversations or concerns a player has about a team get leaked out

I’m just going to be blunt with you… I gave you a negative point. I gave it to you because you sound like you’re defending Jackson going into the stands and throwing punches. He didn’t need to go in the stands throwing haymakers to “defend” Artest. All he had to do was pull Artest out of there and try to seperate him from the fan. That wasn’t Jackson defending or protecting anyone… That was him acting like he’s still in the hood. As a Pacer fan, that year Jackson and Artest went into the stands, I felt we could’ve won the title that year. JO was a beast and an All-Star at the time. We had a great team. That whole situation changed our season and prevented Reggie Miller from getting a title before he retired.

I actually read in an interview that he was asking for a trade…so the media was involved. The info didn’t exactly leak. It does sound like your defending Jackson, and for what? He’s a headcase, I don’t think there’s any doubt about it.

i dont agree with what he did but i do understand..ive gotten in a fight during a game in college defending my teammate..should i have done it no but where im from that what you do. no it doent make it right but i do understand why he did it. also so a incident 3 years ago should still determine if a player is a head case?…i just find it interesting because no one ever talks or publishes the charities that jackson or artest give to or the homeless man in indiana that jackson bought a house for or a poor family in queens who artest paid there whole years rent for or that both went to africa to help in mutombos foundation thing. shouldnt those things also be mentioned since we are judging a player for what he has done off the court?.we already know the news doesnt do it unless they are talking about one of the nba golden boys. im sure we all have seen commercials where lebron chris paul etc are helping other people…but i bet no one ha ever published about chris paul having one of his bouncers beat up a guy outside of a tampa night club for getting a number of a girl he was with

I’ve listed more than that 1 incident…and it takes years or a multiude of things to determine a person’s character…whether you like it or not. That’s how society is…But that Palace brawl was arguably the worst in US sports history, so its going to be etched in people’s minds.

I agree with you 100%. The media feeds on negativity and doesn’t publish enough articles about the great things that players do. I think Jackson is a good person and has a good heart. I actually met him at the Jermaine O’Neal Classic High School All-Star game in Indianapolis in 2005. He seemed like a down to earth genuwine dude. However, his actions on and off the court gave me the impression that he was sort of a head case.

He’s had a good run of good behavior since being traded to Golden State, but he’s a ticking time bomb. He could go off at any minute. The same can be said about Artest. You just never know what you’re going to get with those two. They’re good people, but are unpredictable.

The Pacers haven’t been the same since the Palace Brawl. We’ve had to rebuild our team from scratch and it hasn’t been pretty. Before the brawl we were always a good team with great fan support. That’s changed now. There are rumors that the Pacers might leave the city because they can no longer afford their lease. There was a fan backlash and that’s why Larry Bird started focusing on “good character” guys over talent. Jackson “defending” his teammate really hurt our team and the city.

as for jackson being a headcase, I don’t know. I hear where Quincey is coming from in that the warriors made him a team captain and the spurs tried to give him a 3 year deal, although way under value. And a guy shouldn’t be crucified for every mistake. But the first i had heard of jackson’s trade demands this summer was when it came directly from his mouth to the media, so I’m not sure where the “team leaked it” quincey is coming from with.

My problem is that he just signed a huge contract extension and was given it partly because he was the leader of this team. And now that he has that long term security that some past employers didn’t trust him with, he is turning around and stabbing them in the back.

As for his behavior last night, it was clear from the get go that something was wrong with him and he had zero intentions of finishing that game or even showing up imo. He’s trying to force the warriors hand, but in doing so, he is making it difficult for them to find a trade partner. Thw Warriors have made it known that they would gladly trade him for an expiring contract this season.

now that is what i agree with tezo..unpredictable..more so for artet not so much for jackson.. night club incident was a mistake not sure if id lable it a head case incident but more of a showing off (shooting a gun in the air)..as far as tech and ejections lebron kobe and duncan also have more techs then the average nba player. and i cant judge a player as a head case because of techs because techs are just from over emotions. anyone on here who has played ball can attest to there emotions going wild weather its a sanctioned game or open gym. i know alot of people including my self who would have been thrown out and gotten techs for the arguements we havein open gym when we feel someone has called a touch foul or feels they dont foul anyone. and yeah people will still have the brawl in there minds but thats on them people change and people make mistakes. the people who continue to hold onto something after 3 years are the headcases in my opinion esspecially since each one of those people im sure have done something 3 years ago that they wouldnt do again

the thing about Stephen Jackson that bothers me most is that he know what he getting into before he signed the extension.

    from espn.com

“Who’s going to turn down that money? I’m not stupid. I didn’t go to college but I’ve got a lot of common sense,” he said. “Even though I signed my extension, that doesn’t mean things can’t happen. Shaq got traded. Michael Jordan went to another team.”

my problem with this guy is he signed the contract with every intention of demanding for a trade. how do you think that makes him look like? yes he’s getting a buttload of money by accepting the contract, but him signing the contract tells the Warriors he is committing to them until his four years are over. why do you think the Warriors gave him 4 years? because they believe the team can turn it around within those years, and they wanted Jackson to be a part of their rebuilding. now Jackson says he doesn’t want to be a part of their rebuilding mode, but if that’s the case then why did he sign the contract? it’s obvious that he knew they weren’t going to contend this year. it just goes to show that he was quitting on the Warriors before he even signed the contract. he signed what is probably the biggest contract he’ll be offered in his whole career, and did so just to get some easy cash. to me, that’s just disrespectful to the organization, his teammates, and his fans.

and based on his behavior in Friday night’s game, he just doesn’t want to be there. you just don’t pick up 5 fouls and a technical foul in the first quarter unless you are frustrated about something. and obviously, Jackson’s frustration is all on the Warriors. if I were a fan of the Warriors, I would want him on my team less than he would ever feel about wanting to be on this team. especially since he just took a whole bunch of their money, and now wants nothing to do with them.
