In the next 4 to 6 years, which players do u see going into the Hall of Fame?
Here’s the players I feel should: (the ones that seem questionable, I explained why I feel they should)
    Karl Malone
    Scottie Pippen
    Gary Payton
    Reggie Miller
    Kevin Johnson
    Alonzo Mourning
Chris Webber (Why: he’s one of few players to average 20 points, 10 boards, and 5 assists in more than 1 seasons and he was the face of the Kings franchise for a while)
    Grant Hill
Jerry Stackhouse (Why: back in his haydays, he was a prolific scorer, he once averaged 30 a game, in a season…He was a beast on the Pistons)

I dont think Stackhouse will make it. He has completly flamed out as of late and that is taken into account. I think it wont be long before we see Dikembe Mutombo in the HOF, however, he, like Stackhouse, has pretty much flamed out as of late. It could be because he is like 43.

won’t make it…and it’s sad. I don’t think Stackhouse could make it…same thing could be said about other players as well. You got to have the jewerly to match the stats in my mind. or hardware, whatever you want to call it

Charles Barkely, John Stockton, George Gervin, and a whole bunch of other players don’t have rings and they still made it…And Payton & Alonzo do have rings, both with the Heat, plus Pippen has 6 rings

Grant Hill is 3rd all-times in the NBA in triple doubles, and he missed like 3 or 4 seasons, with injuries and still is one of the all time leaders, he was a beast…He was dubbed the heir to Jordan, that alone should get him in there

But a player having a couple good years makes it like Stackhouse? then why not McGrady? If you put up stats, it has to be consistent and for a long time, otherwise the hardware is needed

no way stack makes it. He was never a top 10 player even though he scored buckets. But if he gets in, that opens the door for a whole lot of other players.

Hill is a tough call. There is no doubt he played at a hall of fame level for like 6 seasons, but I doubt he gets in due to the injuries.

yeah, I Stack wont make it, I mean Michael Adams averaged 27 one year. Grant Hill I think could get in down the line. There are a lot of players who get there, just not as first ballot guys.

u need to have at least 6 dominant seasons in the NBA. you must also be one of, if not, the best at your position at the time you were playing. you must also have some individual acheivements thoughout your career such as rings, all-star games, MVPs, all-NBA teams, etc. the selections that I question are Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill, and i hate to say, but even Kevin Johnson.

    Jerry Stackhouse:

let’s start with Stackhouse. First off, having one great season in terms of scoring does not get you into the HOF. he averaged 29.8 PPG in the 2000-01season (he didn’t even lead the league in scoring that year), but other than that what else has he done? he’s only made the all-star team twice, his 2nd highest scoring average is 23.6 PPG, and he’s only had 4 seasons where he’s average 20+ PPG. Being a great scorer for only that many seasons does not get you to the HOF. if that were the case, than guys like World B. Free, Tracy McGrady, and even Michael Redd should be in the HOF as well.

    Grant Hill:

It’s not that I question what Grant Hill has done in the NBA, but just whether’s he’s done it long enough. He was a dominant player and one of the best at his position early in his career. He was also one of the best all-around players around his time. He’s made 7 all-star games. but during the 2000-01 season, he got hurt and only played 4 games that year. ever since that season he has never played the way he did when he was one of the best small forwards in the NBA. to me, Grant Hill is a boarderline all-star and it’s debateable, but the biggest question is: Has he been dominant and one of the best for a long enough time to be considered a HOFer? honestly, i really don’t know.

    Kevin Johnson:

I know I’m gonna get a lot of criticism for this, but let me explain first. I am a big Kevin Johnson fan. I loved his explosiveness and the way he could get to the basket at will and wasnt afraid to challenge anyone. He’s made 3 all-star appearances to go along with 4 seasons with 10+ APG and 3 seasons with 20+ PPG and 10+ APG. but to me, he isn’t a guaranteed HOFer. if that were the case, Chris Paul and D-Will could retire right now and then make the HOF as well, and as good as those two are, they need to play for at least 4 more years and have replicate, if not better, seasons that they’ve had for the past 2 seasons. we don’t know, they could go through a downfall and get injured.

Kevin Johnson also, imo, was never the best point guard during his time. He was always second best to either Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, and John Stockton. To me, he’s close to a HOFer, but again whether or not he’s done enough to be considered one is the question.

yeah, when I first heard that I was surprised because i always thought of him as having his best years with the warriors. But after looking it up, he had like 4 real good years with Miami. Can you name the other 3 people the heat have retired?

they retired dan marino, Michael Jordan, and Alonzo. They are the only team besides Chicago to retire Jordan.

i thought you meant who the Miami HEAT have retired. in that case, it would only be Mourning and soon-to-be Tim Hardaway.

I said what people have the heat retired in the rafters, and both Marino and Jordan have their numbers retired by the miami heat, so they count.

Those kind of guys that changed the way the game was played. I don’t think its neccesarily the guys who were really good for a few seasons here or there, or put up huge numbers. The all time greats are the guys who are among the elite in all that, but have that extra component. In my opinion, you need to have just about superhuman numbers to get into the hall without at least a couple deep playoff runs if not hardware…Especially for guys on the fringe, like I feel KJ, Stack, Grant Hill, and to be honest even Webber to a certain extent. I wonder if long term, people are going to remember the negative parts of his career, the bad pass, the scandals, and then the no title argument and it might keep him out. Of the three I mentioned, he is probably highest up the list though. I feel like those were all guys that were very respected at thier times and will be remembered by the people who really know basketball, but I dont feel like they will be remembered in the same category of legends as the HOF is supposed to represent, IMO, and thats no slight to them or their careers.

looking at the 2009 class of Jordan, Stockton, Robinson, and Sloan, that sets the bar pretty high. I think the hall of fame should be real sacred and be for the true legends of the game as well. People who our kids will talk about.

If Stackhouse gets in who’s next Penny Hardaway, Stephon Marbury?

Hill probably won’t get in injuries ruined a special player. Mourning had 8 years of dominant 19/9.5 injuries hurt his career too, he could’ve been an all time elite defensive Center. KJ and Webber seem to be on the bubble, Webber coming up short in the playoffs hurt him, I think KJ should get in he almost won a title against the Bulls. The rest besides Stackhouse belong in the HOF.

don my man… Uhmmmm… If being “heir to Jordan” makes anybody a hall of famer, then Harold Miner should be inducted, too…

Good list though… But I was surprised you didn’t mention Jason Kidd… The best PG of the generation… The leader that makes his team better(see the Nets for success)… The guy that could have won the MVP award in 2002… I just question the Stackhouse thing, I am pretty convinced he won’t be in the HOF…

As for Dikembe, yeah, he retired and is now very old but what he has done for the NBA and reaching it on his home shore of Africa, not just Congo, has made him an even better ambassador to the game… That’s why he will definitely be in the HOF…

    1. Dennis Rodman – one of the best D players of all time
    2. Dikembe Mutombo – one of the best shotblockers of all time

The players that will retire soon

    1. Jason Kidd
    2. Shaq

i just dont see Stackhouse or Grant Hill making it in the HOF. If a guy like Dennis Rodman isn’t in it, then no way to guys who have never won a championship will make it. Plus Hill really only had like 3-5 good season before he became a solid role player after the injuries. Stackhouse was nothing more than an athletic scorer on decent teams when he was younger

There’s no way Stackhouse makes the hall-of-fame. He never guraded anyway. He never led a team deep into the playoffs. He was a good scorer. Much like Cedric Ceballos. That’s not bad AT ALL. Nearly putting up 30 ppg in any one season is great. But it was only one season after Grant Hill had left. There wasn’t anyone left to shoot the ball. Stackhous was good, But not HOF worthy.

Dhamp…the smartest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway.
