LeBron Says Loyalty Is To Akron, ’10 Could Take Him ‘Somewhere Else’

    Feedback or Suggestions

    Aug 24, 2009 9:35 AM EST
Answering another question about the summer of 2010, LeBron James said his loyalty is to Akron, Ohio, apparently drawing a distinction between his hometown and Cleveland. James said that he’s looking forward to free-agency and acknowledged that he could end up playing in a different city.

“My loyalty is to Akron,” said James. “I’m looking forward to this upcoming season, but I’m looking forward to the summer of 2010, too, to see what may happen. No matter what happens that summer, you know, I’m still here. I’ve got a nice big house here that I’m always coming back to. You know, I love this city and I’ll always give back to this city no matter what my profession, if it takes me somewhere else.”

At least he’s being honest and not avoiding the issue, right?

Breaking News, Cavilers to relocated to Akron, Ohio!

anyways like OJ jones said, you have to admire how he has been honest with all of these questions thus far. He won’t do a Boozer on Cleveland.

that’s funny Kong. But to be honest, I think he should just not really say anything about it other then “we’ll see”. It’s not really an uplifting thing for the fans to think he will bounce. It’s not helping anything to keep reminding people that he might leave.

This happens but i don’t see James winning a championship in Cleveland unless James Game steps up another level which would be hard cause he is already super super good

And to think he dissed Charles Barkley for saying that LeBron “has been disrespectful for the city of Cleveland and the fans” for talking about 2010 FA… To me, as an LBJ fan and sort of Cavs fan, it is definitely an insult and a distraction for a superstar player talking about leaving the city and play somewhere else…

New York has nothing to lose and everything to gain here… so does New Jersey/Brookyln… LBJ is wrong when he said that this drama is distracting New York fans because they are all excited about it… The Cleveland fans are the one distracted and insulted… Charles Barkley has always been vocal and is never afraid to speak out… And for a point there, he is definitely right.

So you want him to say he isn’t considering it and then be called a liar later if he does leave?

people are going to be upset either way, in situations like that honestly is the best policy.

nah, he doesn’t have to say he isn’t considering it. He should just not really say anything about it. When the time comes, no one would call him a liar. It also would help keep the fans that have supported him happy and to continue supporting. By discussing it openly as often as he does, he is just irritating the clevaland fans and there is no real need for that.
