why is calipari getting the heat but no one is mentioning rose?

Calipari got the person to take the test for him, thats Calipari’s fault more than anything. Rose was wrong for going through with it, but Calipari orchestrated it. Kinda like how a hitman gets less time than the mastermind in murder cases sometimes.

nope i was just reading a article that dickie v wrote..calipari didnt have the guy take it for him or set it up for him…its on espn.com if you wanna check it out… now where are you getting the info that he set everything up?…calipari had nothing to do with it hence why hes not being punished..this was for the fans who were tryna put the blame on him. rose is the dummy who decided not to take his own test even though its not hard at all to get the minimum to play basketball… its sad that he was selfish enough to do that to his teammates who have worked hard to accomplish what they did

hmmmm…probably not because the good teams play in good conferences so they have a better chance of losing during the year. you might have had some undefeated teams like carolina or kansas if they played in conference usa

i think another reason he got some heat for this is because it happened to him a couple times before with eligibility issues

is not getting any heat cuz i believe he cannot get in trouble for it. his image will look bad but the ncaa cant do anything to a pro, can they? plus who knows how many other stars calliperi did this with

people brought up how umass got there record taken away when he was the coach . once again though how is it his fauly that marcus camby decided to take money from a booster..i mean really why do coaches get in trouble because of what a player decides to do

This is the problem with the whole age limit and the one and done thing. The guys really don’t want to go to college, but they either have to or go to Europe and they cannot afford to sit out a year. Players are desperate and coaches are desperate. Guys like Cal are shady and willing to do anything. I don’t care what ESPN says, I guarantee he had a hand in it, he was just smart not to leave his fingerprints at the crime scene. It’s funny how right before a program goes down he is walking out of the building. That’s like seeing a building burn down and the same guy keep walking out. It starts to make you wonder. We just saw something similar happen as far as infractions with OJ Mayo and USC.

I think in some cases the players are guilty, sometimes it’s the coaches and sometimes there are just a lot of bad people running the players life that they trust because the people know they can benefit from where they go and their success. To me this is just a lesson that the coaches need to be careful with who they recruit regardless of the talent level, but again I guess if you never get in trouble and can always find another job that it won’t matter. I feel sorry for the Kentucky fans, because there is a good chance the same thing is going to happen to them. Can you imagine winning the NCAA championship, getting a final four, maybe having one of your best seasons and then it getting stripped from you?

Do you think Cal didn’t know that Rose was cheating or Camby got money? He most likelt “knew” but didn’t know. He knew it was going on but turned a blind eye to the whole situation. People are giving Cal heat because he is the man in charge. This is the second time a situation has happened. It’s hard to blame the 17/18 year old kid when the 50 year old man who should know better allows this to go on.

When he was in the nba he called some guy a “fuckin mexican idiot” and than said it was an ill-attempt at humor. sounds more like racism to me than humor.

I think that is another problem. All of these people that hang onto the athletes can basically say I get paid or they won’t be there. A lot of teams do it, but it should be illegal. To me it’s not much different than just handing the person some money under the table.

For a head coach to be as good as he is and not know what is going on with his star recruits is stupid. Cal knew what was going on and would have probably squashed this with money if he was not living Memphis. The college world is crooked. It is too easy to win and it all about getting the right talent. You can be a nobody and make millions of dollars if you can get the right recruits at your school. Memphis only got slapped on the wrist. They will trade everything that Rose and Calipari brought them attention wise for what they lost. You can not be so naive. I believe Rose could have taken the test and pass it. I do believe that he got talked into doing something that he probably later regrets.

its not out of the relm of possibility for a coach to not know if a guy took his sat or not. too be honest there are a couple of guys that went to some of these so called clean programs who either cheated on there sat’s, in college or acceptted money..the difference is they didnt get caught..as far as the hiring of family spencer…thats been going on for years and years. even dean smith did it before back in the day so thats not a real big deal. its so easy for a guy to get money without a coach knowing or take there S.A.T im sure there are other guys here who have played college basketball who took there test and the coach they signed with wasnt at the test site. you take youre test call youre coach when you get youre scores and let him know you passed or fail. The bad person if, you wanna call him that, in this story is derrick rose

Yea, I mean he deserves some blame but the real issue is this is his 2nd offense and the 2nd final four vacated

Calipari- Suspend for a couple game (5-15), Limit his recruiting, Fine, Probatation

Rose (this is the tough part)- Ask for 100,000- to 300,000 dollars. Half goes to the University and Half goes to paying towards the money Memphis needs to give back.

yeah but its pretty hard to know what they are doing all of the time…im not gonna name names but ive had friends that have played for 3 schools all of which are well known and are well respected …2 of them got paid by boosters while there and the other has seen some of his teammates get money to give to there familys. now the coach didnt know of all of the times it happened but all three coaches did know of some of the times but just turned the other cheek while one said makes sure mmy name isnt involved. the difference is the coachs didnt get caught. they dont always know whats going on all the time. cal prob has done some illegal things( i never knew anyone whos played for him so i wouldnt know but my guess is he prob has) but this issue is going on at alot more schools then the average person thinks

If a coach can turn an atlantic 10 and a confrence USA team into national powers and land top recruits from around the natio, I’m gonna be a little skeptical of what’s going on. I think, even without proof, most people are gonna think Calipari is shady and has allowed a lot of these things to happen. But I agree that any player who can’t pass the minimum requirements to get accepted to school is pretty dumb and should recieve just as much criticism.
