New NBA season kicks off Oct. 27NBA Kicks Off With Cavs-Celtics, LA Rings
The league on Tuesday released its schedule, which begins with Shaq’s Cleveland debut on Oct. 27 followed by Kobe and the Lakers receiving their rings prior to facing the Clippers
In a replay of sorts of last year’s opener, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics will launch the 2009-10 NBA season — only this time LeBron James has some welcome firepower in new teammate Shaquille O’Neal.
The league on Tuesday released its schedule, which begins with Shaq’s Cleveland debut on the Cavs’ home floor on Oct. 27. On the back end of that TNT Tuesday doubleheader, Kobe Bryant and the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers will receive their championship rings prior to facing the Clippers.
Washington plays Dallas and Houston meets Portland to round out the opening night schedule. [which is considered a two-date affair.] The rest of the league debuts in a 10-game schedule on Wednesday the 28th, which includes an ESPN doubleheader of New Orleans vs. San Antonio followed by Utah vs. Denver.
Also on the Oct. 28 docket: Defending Eastern Conference champion Orlando, with Vince Carter now aboard, hosting Philadelphia; the Cavs playing the second night of a back-to-back, in Toronto; the Celtics also getting the early back-to-back treatment as they host Charlotte; and the Pistons deciding whether it’ll be Rodney Stuckey, Richard Hamilton or Ben Gordon coming off the bench as they open at Memphis.
ESPN once again will carry a schedule predominantly of Wednesday and Friday games during the regular season.

I’m actually excited about all four games, but I’m looking forward to the Cavs vs the Celtics the most! I can’t wait to see a healthy KG return to the floor and the chemistry between LeBron and Shaq.I think it’ll be a good thing for all those young guys on the Clippers to witness the Lakers receive their rings. What a great opportunity for Blake Griffin to explode onto the big screen.
Washington vs Dallas should be interesting. I’m anxious to see the return of Agent Zero and see a healthy Wizards team. Dirk, Kidd, Howard, Marion and Terry… Should be fun.
Houston vs Portland is the least entertaining game of the night, but I’m looking forward to a couple of things. Who will start for Portland at center and point guard? Oden or Joel? Miller or Blake? I’m also interested in seeing how Ariza plays with a more expanded role.

dwat4444ParticipantClippers Lakers is the second favorite(1st is kind of obvious). I want to see if the chemistry is there for the Ponders. See what griff can do as well.

SwatLakeCityParticipantC’mon yes, that game will be good for the rookies but seriously two bad teams facing off. I want to see some contention, tough matchups, and rivalaries. OKC vs Sac, isn’t nearly what we could be seeing. Although I would like to see OKC play with that young and talented squad, maybe them vs the Clippers, but not Sac. I said maybe, and that’s being generous.
2 most interesting matchups are Celtics vs Cavs obviously and Nugs vs Jazz, this game is always fun to watch, and is a huge rivalry between two teams of the Northwest division and both could win the Northwest division. Chauncey vs Dwill, should be fun to watch. Plus it would be interesting to see the Jazz chemistry with their new additions thanks to the future Boozer trade. But then again by opening night this trade could still be in the making. Boozer could still be with the Jazz by the time this game happens.0 - Posted on: Tue, 08/04/2009 - 12:33pm #195866

Meditated StatesParticipantClippers vs Lakers is interesting. I want to see if Blake can wear out that front line for 20 and 10.
