marcusfizer21ParticipantImagine the 2004 NBA Draft had Danny Ferry taken a risk in drafting another skilled forward out of high school in Josh Smith and let the media scrutinized this pick and let them throw tomatoes at Ferry at that time…Imagine that they had snubbed a certain lottery prospect named Luke Jackson and go after a raw talent like Josh Smith… Damn, Jay Bilas has mentioned Smith as a “Bust” already on live television, saying that he’s gonna be “embarrassed the moment he suits up an NBA uniform.”
Let the media remember what they said at that time today as we saw Josh Smith transformed into a ultra-athletic freak who stars in every highlight play every night.. Now, who’s bust? Imagine what Danny Ferry would have said when he saw Josh grow up. Imagine he signed an extension with Cleveland.. LeBron would have a partner he could “soar” with every night and that would have been sweet ain’t it? Sadly, the Cavs were dumb enough to waste that pick on Luke Jackson and as it turned out, this fantasy would-have-been is never gonna happen, at least not yet… But imagine, just imagine if LeBron would have a sidekick in Smith… A Pippen to His Airness… A Robin to a Batman… A Gasol to a Kobe.. They are going to take turns in chasedown blocks every night and they are going to dunk the ball at every opportunity… Most of all, they would have dominated… What if…
I am not going to ask who is the better player because we all know the answer to that pre-school question… I am just going to ask, who is more athletic of the two, LeBron? or J-Smoove?

Bfresh2DeathParticipantIf were just talking vertical leap josh smith has about a 40 inch vert (http://www.nba.com/hawks/chat/josh_smith_chat_transcript_041505.html) and lebron james has a reported vertical varying from 40 inchs to 44….josh smith is seems more powerful when he dunks on players and goes thru them. With lebron james he outquicks his opponets and dunks it not saying he doesnt dunk on ppl but look at when he dunk on kg he dunked around him he didnt vince carter chest thump rise higher cock it back dunk then float and go back to the ground…yeah vc really did all that josh smith is a better dunker in my opinion cuz he will climb the latter of any man like zaza and crash on them and he is as strong as lebron but lebron is quicker and weighs more and that makes him more athletic………..but the better dunker is clearly josh smith………duh the best dunker since vince carter get a blues clues my bad waynes here soo woo………..hahahahah

JNixonParticipantLeBron. More agile and quick. Josh Smith is a run (in a straight line)-jump athlete.

Lemons4LifeParticipantSmith is more athletic than some people think. I mean he can do 360’s easliy. I have to go with the underdog Smith. I mean, I’m not sure if it’s you guys, but some people just choose their favorite player which would be LeBron for a lot of you. You have to actually think about it.

JNixonParticipantI know he’s athletic, he’s actually a freakish athlete, but he isnt more athletic than Lebron.

Michael.S.ParticipantVert. isnt the only factor of athleticism
1. Vert
2. Speed
3. Coordination
4. Hangtime
5. Body Controlwith that said i think its easily LeBron

MH2ParticipantImagine Josh Smiths game if he had a leader like LeBron as his teamate. Maybe his attitude wouldnt be so bad and he would pattern his work ethic after LeBron an realize your going to have to do more then dunk.

JoeWolf1I think the combination of strength and agility plays a part too, no one has really incorporated strength in the argument, but Lebron is much stronger and it hasn’t affected his mobility and speed, I think the addition of great strength makes Lebron the superior athlete.

R-Dot-13Participanti know vert isnt the only part of athleticism

knicksfreakParticipantLebron is the better overall athlete. Smith isnt as coordinated as he shows in his handles and sometimes when he blows dunks. Lebron is much stronger and also has better body control. Plus the vert.

bluedevils12Participantits really no comparison. lebron speed and quickness are superior for his size. and its no secret lebron is powerful. Josh smith isnt even in the same league as bron when it comes 2 speed and quickness. smith has the edge on bron has a slight edge on bron in height and idk who is longer but bron is jus the better athlete.

JoeWolf1I have a headache from reading that last post, and I still don’t know what he was trying to say, except that Josh Smith is a great dunker. Athleticism is a combination of strength, agility, speed, body control, acceleration, and over all body control.

Champzilla21Participantooo its lebron james its not even close, being 6’8 like 260 being one of the fastest player in the league, has a massive vertical and is very strong, he makes plays out of nothing sometimes just becuz he is straight up more athletic then everyone, smith is a freak also but not n james level, the only other athlete in the world that i think is in the relm of lebron james is calvin johnson who plays Wr for the Detroit Lions
