BrentSuriaga01ParticipantWord has it that Jimmy Butler prefers the Clippers more over Nets and Knicks. And there’s also the rumor that Kawhi now prefers to sign with the Clippers rather than the Lakers if he leaves the Raptors. How do you see this work-out for the two of them if they ever team up?

The GoatParticipantThey’d be a good pairing. I just suggested on another thread that the Raps should go all in now and offer Lowry for Butler. They have Wright and Van Vleet to cover the point. I really can’t see anyone else taking Butler as a rental or why the Clips would give away assets if he is definitely going there. Same with Kawhi – if he’s going to leave for the Clips, the Raps need to go for it now.

theEDGEParticipantFirst he wanted to play in NY or Brooklyn with Irving and now he wants to play with Leonard for the Clippers.
Make your mind up, Jimmy.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantI wouldnt be surprised if they both believed The world is Flat and that they can win a Ring in NY with a Big 3 of Kyrie, Jimmy and Kristaps
I can see that ending horribly for all parties involved, MSG seems like it was built on ancient Indian burial grounds because that place is cursed for the Home Team

HobbyOGParticipantDidn’t Jimmy clash with teammates in Chicago as well? Now the Timberwolves? As a GM I would talk to former teammates before I traded or signed him, dude seems like he doesn’t get along with people.

BeastMode716Participantthat Jimmy Butler has divided 2 locker rooms in 2 years where there are young talent & instead of showing Leadership & helping them grow he has publicly thrown them under the Bus & basically been a big part of causing just Terrible culture
GO on the T-Wolves SB Nation site & there are Hundreds of posts from T-Wolves fans who desperately want Butler out of town & they are Thrilled he demanded a trade b/c they were petrified Karl Anthony Towns was going to refuse to sign an extension & want out
Word in Minnesota is the Locker room is split & Wiggens & KAT feel like alienated in their own locker room — A year ago we were debating which franchise was better positioned to be the next great team in 3+ years Philadelphia or Minnesota?
At the same time in Chicago Rajon Rondo was defending the young players in Chicago & calling out Dwayne Wade & Butler for tearing the team apart & everyone just forgot about it when Butler went to Minnesota
That T-Wolves team is young but they have a ton of young talent & young talent takes Years to develop – Butler was no phenom – older players helped him develop. But he’s never won anything – he’s a lifetime 33% 3pt shooter & a guard who runs a LOT of Iso’s for Himself.
I don’t wanna rain on the parade of Clips fans – I’d LUV to see Kawhi go to the Clips & their would be a Monster LA rivalry between the Lakers & Clippers. But I don’t know if Butler is the guy you want in that Locker room.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantJimmy isn’t a Top 5-10 player in the NBA but he’s a lot better than Andrew Wiggins(who Captain Jack accurately called him the Tin Man)
If the choice was between Butler and Wiggins and the Wolves picked Wiggins well, there’s a reason they are a Top 5 Worst Franchise of all time!
KAT is becoming a very over rated player too, he got killed by Clint Capela, a guy no one really saw becoming the player he has(and I believe playing with Harden and Paul to a be a huge part of that)
If the Wolves believe paying KAT and Wiggins MAX money is smart than I can’t help them, surrounding them with players that dont challenge them to be better players is an even bigger mistake…
I wouldn’t put too much into Jimmy being frustrated in Chicago because they went from the Penthouse to the Outhouse, than the Minnesota T’Wolves offered him a 2 year Olive Branch, the barely made the Playoffs and several of the core players are Weak Minded and Over Rated young punks who’ve proven nothing (a direct shot at Wiggin’s calling Captain Jack a "Old Hater who wasn’t that special")
Let me tell you all something, Wiggins and KAT will never win a playoff series in Minnesota yet they’ll rob that Franchise for Hundreds of Millions of Dollars, Butler by shear presence alone got that team in position to make their 1st PO appearence in a Decade, they repay him by doubling down on stupid and backing 2 Unproven/Over Rated Young Punks who’ve done nothing but disapoint us as #1 overall picks, neither is a player you can Build a Contender around (For as great as AD is, and he’s 4 times the player KAT is, he’s not turning New Orleans into a contender, even if he added a Wing like Wiggins)
KAT and Wiggy Azeala will never be winning culture players, Butler for all the rumors would automatically make 5 Teams a Title Contender (76ers, Celtics, Thunder, Rockets and Raptors) The only team he couldnt make a title contender over night is Minnesota lol (kidding, not kidding?)
Elite 2 Way players dont grow on Trees and Minny let one slip away because they want to back spoiled disapointments on Rookie Scale contracts (Bird rights are almost the same as having a young player on the Rookie scale yet Minny talks themselves out of Mediocrity and straight into Obscurity)

r377ParticipantJimmy is good on court but is looking to be a locker room cancer. As a veteran you need to encourage and improve your youngsters.
Didn’t Jimmy dick KAT’s girlfriend ? Maybe he should go to Brooklyn to join up with the snitch deangelo russell.
Jimmy and Kahwhi in Clippers won’t make it out of the first round. Leonard is always injured, butler has Thibs miles

Andrew1984ParticipantOf all the star players in the NBA to team up, I’m not sure Kawhi and Jimmy Butler would be the best fit. Neither player has made more than 147 treys in a season; too much early ’00s mid-range going on. They’re both premiere players with hard-nosed attitudes, but I can’t imagine a championship-level offense forming around them.
For context: Darius Miller made 147 threes last year.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantKawhi was the best player on a team that won 61 games and was rolling Golden State in Game 1 of the WCF in May 2017, and a Finals MVP from 2014. Despite missing 23 games, Butler still got Minnesota to win 47 games. With him, they had a win percentage of a top 6 team in the league. Please don’t compare Brose Bamberg legend Darius Miller to them.

Andrew1984ParticipantJust because two players are elite performers does not mean they will mesh well together. How many star-studded teams have failed to live up to expectations, just in the past few years?
0- Posted on: Fri, 09/21/2018 - 11:06am #1124660

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantYou made a case around how they get their points and that a team cannot win at a high level with how they operate when there is evidence in the previous two years of each of them elevating teams with less talent than other contending teams to elite or near elite levels. It is possible they would not mesh, though given the history of each player adapting well to different roles makes me feel otherwise. It is possible that one or the other fails to stay healthy, and the team therefore struggles for relevency in the West. Beyond that, such a move would put two of the leagues top fifteen players in the league on the same team, and would probably be a top three or four team in the league regardless as to whether Darius Miller takes more threes.
