BeastMode716ParticipantIt really got in depth & broke down how Huge this guy truly was, what a Freak athlete & how he strength that was off the charts!
Lot’s of video footage & break down’s compared to the modern game – also some video of Wilt at 50 standing w/ Shaq on the court right after a game & Wilt is So much bigger than Shaq – I was floored!
What really blew me away was the footage that showed how cat quick Chamberlain was – He would go up for a block & then go right back up like he was on a pogo stick & his head would be Above the Rim! – & they said this guy was Over 7’2” & Wilt claimed his playing weight was 310+
I can’t put a Link on this page but I highly recomennd watching a few minutes b/c I have Always been told Wilt played against all little white guys & this video broke down other Great players Wilt went head to head w/ like Nate Thurmond (7 foot), Wes Unseld (6’9” 270 lbs) & the Great Bill Russell descibing some of the Giants they played against & how Wilt just threw grown men around like they were children. They had footage of Wilt lifting weights & a teammate claims he watched Wilt bench press 600 lbs
It was mind boggling & a real eye opener! Did anyone else see this? It was Crazy!

ZouldiersParticipantWilt was also getting offers to play in the NBA in the 80’s. That man is truly physically gifted.

RUDEBOY-ParticipantYeah that Documentary was shown in February before a 76ers game. It’s interesting that he was friends with both Bill Russell & Kareem at first. Then his relationship with both guys Deteriorated. Wilt & Russell finally made up. Kareem called him an Uncle Tom. They belittled each other for over 20 years in interviews and in several books. His Feud with Kareem lasted until his death. Wilt was a Controversial figure in the Black Community. He was a Republican and disliked the Black Panthers. He was friends with Former President Nixon. Who once said Blacks were Inferior to whites and Whites must do what they could for them!!

The GoatParticipantHe was a freak. There’s quite a lot of non believers on this site. I posted a link and some info a while back and it’s quite funny to read comments from people born after he died who are adamant that he couldn’t have done certain things like bench press that much, run that fast or jump that high. They just don’t have any idea. The guy received guaranteed NBA offers when he was 50.

RUDEBOY-ParticipantYeah. I can’t remember exactly what year 1979,80 or 1981. But After Darryl Dawkins got hurt and was ruled out for the year.Philadelphia Offered Wilt a deal to play the rest of the year. He was in his late 40s at the time.

Bad DogParticipantIn his auto-bio, A View From Above, Wilt claimed the last offer he got was in ’89 from Dr. Buss to play home games for the Lakers.

eyefortalentParticipantand you can definiely make the argument he was the GOAT. Former players like Earl Monroe, Walt Frazier, Rick Barry and Gus Williams think he is. Dr J has always made the point that people act like the NBA didn’t exist before the mid 70’s. The current and previous generation of players, media and fans are clueless to how great Wilt was and what a freakish athlete he was. LeBron is not in his class as far as athleticism, strength and endurance. And as far as the ridiculous argument he played against much smaller and athletic players, Wilt was past his prime when he was able to more than hold his own against a young Lew Alcindor. Kareem shot 56% from the field in his career, but just 47% vs Wilt. In one playoff series, Wilt blocked 17 skyhooks, including 6 in one game. A young Wilt would’ve destroyed Kareem.

HitsterParticipantThere are photos of Wilt stood next to Andre the Giant when they met on Conan set and Wilt is taller than him. Andre was naturally much heavier but Wilt doesn’t look like a stick next to him and was in his mid/late 40’s when he made this film and was in amazing shape.

Bad DogParticipantCheck out his book, A View From Above. I read it back in the mid-90s and it was a fun read. In middle school, one of my teachers had actually met him a couple times at his nightclub in Harlem back in the 60’s. She (not one of the 25,000) said he was pretty sensitive when it came to his height and was uncomfortable when people would point it out. She told me this funny story about how one night at his club he decided to pull a prank on everyone. because of it. The story goes, one night Wilt walks in with his entourage of 6 or 7 guys and naturally everyone notices him once he walks in the door. After they all get inside, Wilt and his group go find a table right in the middle of the place, where everyone can see them, and sit down. Thing is, she said they were seated kinda strange. The group was sitting around Wilt in a circle so all you could really see of Wilt was him from the chest up. However, unbeknownst to everyone in the club, Wilt was actually crouching in the chair instead of sitting flat. So they sit there for a few minutes and people are pointing him out and so on. It’s at this point Wilt signals to everyone in the group he is with to stand up at the same time. So everyone sitting around him stands up and then Wilt stands up. On the chair. Which adds another 2 feet or so to his already 7 foot height. So now everyone in the club is staring at a 9 foot version of Wilt and their collective jaws are on the floor. A few moments later, Wilt tells some of the people he’s with to move aside and let the rest of the club in on the joke. After the big reveal, the entire club erupts in laughter.
