ChicagoCaseyParticipant* I do believe that they will sign LeBron James this summer
- Draft Michael Porter with the 10th pick
- Draft DeAnthony Melton with the 26th pick
- Re-sign J.J Redick
- Re-sign Ersan Illyasova
- Sign Kevon Looney
- Try to re-sign Marco Belinelli
Most people, including myself, would not believe that Michael Porter will be there at 10 when the 76ers make their selection. Many experts believe he will drop in the draft. In my new mock I have him going to the 76ers. The teams that I can see him going to are Orlando, Chicago, Cleveland, New York, and Philadelphia. Orlando has selected fowards these past couple drafts (Jonathan Isaac and Aaron Gordon), been signing defensive players, and they do not have a point guard. I believe they will select Trae Young because it makes too much sense. Chicago writers believe MPJ is not an option due to character dynmaics and injury history. Chicago writers believe they will end up drafting a big man to tag along with Lauri Makkanen. I believe they will select Wendell Carter. I believe Cleveland will select Kevin Knox. Knox stock seems to keep rising and he’s been at Cavs games on multiple occassions. And I have the Knicks playing it safe and selecting Mikal Bridges. The 76ers seem to not be shy about players with any injury and player concerns.
I have the 76ers drafting De’Anthony Melton with their second first round pick. I actually believe Melton is a lottery type of talent, but with the FBI investigation he couldn’t showcase his abilities. He’s a great athlete, capable ball handler/playmaker, and an elite defensive prospect. He was probably the best player at the combine 5 on 5 challenge. I believe he would be a homerun for the 76ers if he is there at 26. He compliments Markelle Fultz, Ben Simmons, Robert Covington, Joel Embiid, and Dario Saric.
In free agency if they do not get that splash free agenct they should patch up their bench and don’t spend too much money. In my opinion, their weaknesses from last season was playmaking on the perimeter, wing depth, and their back up 5 man. I believe that playmaking on the perimeter is already on the roster with Markelle Fultz, so they do not need to address that. By resigning J.J Redick and Marco Belineli and drafting Michael Porter Jr. and De’Anthony Melton would solve their wing problem. I don’t believe the 76ers have a backup big man worth playing. Amir Johnson came along strong towards the end of the season, but he wasn’t getting it done. Adding Kevon Looney and Jonah Bolden would give them two quality bigs that can defend at the rim and on the perimeter. Plus, are a positive on the offensive end of the floor.
Potential Starting Five
- PG: Ben Simmons, T.J McConnell
- SG: Markelle Fultz, JJ Redick, De’Anthony Melton, Furkan Kurkmaz
- SF: Robert Covington, Michael Porter Jr, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarott
- PF: Dario Saric, Ersan Illyasova, Jonah Bolden
- C: Joel Embiid, Kevon Looney, Richan Holmes

cohenbc1ParticipantThis is a 52-win team with two all-NBA-level talents aged 24 and 21. On top of that they have the #1 pick in last year’s draft, who basically redshirted.
This is not rocket science. You bring everybody back that you possibly can. You add another minimum-deal veteran or two to teach toughness and work habits. Then you let your young stars learn and grow into a championship team. Just like the Warriors did it, and the Spurs before that, and the Bulls before that …

ChicagoCaseyParticipantThey showed some flaws in the playoffs vs. the Heat and the Celtics. They were not as good when they can not shoot three pointers. Yes, they won 52 games, but they do have weaknesses and it showed throughout the playoffs. Marco Belinili was non-existent when he couldn’t hit a shot. The Sixers went downhill throughout the season when Joel Embiid goes out. And when they really need someone to get a bucket late in the shot clock they could not do that.
I just made this thread just to state who they should target and draft.

cohenbc1ParticipantOf course they showed flaws. Their best players are 24 and 21.
The Spurs would have been thankful if Marco had been merely "non-existent" when he couldn’t hit shots!
Be patient! 25 of the NBA’s 30 teams would trade places with the Sixers in a heartbeat.

treytalkssports.comParticipantThe question isn’t whether or not they have a better team than 25 of the teams. They need a better team than 29.
Their roster, as constructed, is flawed. Even if Simmons and Embiid develop more, their supporting cast is questionable. ROCO, Fultz, Reddick, etc. These guys just aren’t good enough two-way players.

EndlessknightParticipantHighly doubt Porter will be there at 10.
If they can’t get a get LeBron of PG13 I bring everyone back except Amir, Bolden will take his spot, and maybe sign a guy like Caldwell-Pope to a one year deal and wait for next year and make a run at Klay Thompson.

The GoatParticipantHeres a crazy thought – max out Demarcus Cousins.
I havent seen anyone suggest it (maybe for good reason) but the team would be huge. He has a 3 ball, as does Joel, so if Saric (who is fantastic) was willing to play on the second unit, itd be awfully hard to matchup against a team with Simmons, Embiid and Boogie. Just draft flat out shooters with the picks, best available shooter at each opportunity.

OhCanada-ParticipantI think Myles Bridges would be a great fit on this team. Could be a great counter to the Morris twins as he projects as a more athletic Marcus Morris. Also another body to throw at Lebron.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantAll parties involved are pushing 4 it
LBJ can even choose his own GM when he gets here
Fultz, TLC, Korkmaz, Holmes and the 10th pick are as good as gone, LeBron brings in all the vets back for the Minimum

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantand if you check my post from Last year, I called Fultz to Philly a week before it happened…
I didn’t give my source then, I won’t now
James, Leonard and the resigned vets, bank on it$$$

Dell87ParticipantFultz , Korkmaz, TLC, both first round picks and saric in a sign and trade for Lebron. Is that too much to give up even for Lebron?

LOFTYParticipantCall me stupid but why trade all that for a free agent? He can go to Philly this year if he wants to, he doesn’t need Cleveland permission…. the only reason I could see Philly willing to do that is if they needed to clear cap space but I don’t follow up on that stuff and have no idea what Phillies cap situation is.

EndlessknightParticipantPretty sure he meant trading that for Kawhi and signing LBJ for free. (Still don’t think it will happen)

cohenbc1ParticipantYou’re saying the Spurs will accept that package for Leonard? I would be shocked.
I’d rather trade him to the Lakers for Ingram and bad contracts.
Also have a hard time imagining Redick would re-up for the minimum, but he does seem like kind of a nonconformist.

Andv1 WaitingParticipantPersonally I like most of the moves mentioned as you are better off actually trying to develop Futlz and other young players up than bringing in ageing superstar..
But I could see maybe the following moves happening:
Paul George if he doesn’t re-up with OKC I would prefer him to go there than the Lakers as he doesn’t make a lot of sense there unless you believe he is a S.G that is.
Bring back Reddick.
Sign a back up Big for Joel E.
Bring back Ersan(he seems to do well there)
Move Robert C to the bench as 6th man and Start Paul G
Then decide have a battle at training camp to see who starts at Sg between Reddick,Futlz and someone else.
Re-up T.J mconell at a reasonable price as he is sort of like their delly/Draymond G.
