Last year, I thought wade should have been considered mvp. he took his team from 15 wins and the worst team in the league, to 43 wins, 5th seed, 7 games. But certain aspects of his game (defense) aren’t considered on one side of the court…but they certainly are on the offensive side.

Do you think d-wade is worthy of defensive player of the year?

Last season, as a SG in this league, wade averaged 1.0bpg, 1.8spg along with his 30.2ppg, 5.0rpg, 7.5spg. 79 games.

Next question, who/when was the last ( SG ) to average over 1 block and 1 steal per game for 79 games in 1 season?

Why wade is considered my favorite player in the league is because of his leadership. his sportmanship. His playmaking ability. his killer instinct to outmuscle any position in this league. His ability to guard 1 vs. 1. his ability to run players down on the fast break. and last, his love and respect for the game.

    – D-grizzly.

Wade got snubbed…he had the best statistical season out of everybody, and didnt even win an award…
He was a legit contender for MVP & DPoY, but got nothing, did he even get 1st team all nba?

He has the ability to take over a game, and I say hes the best individual player in the entire NBA..

PAT RILEY, GET THAT MAN SOME HELP!

Okay first of all, he didn’t take a team with 15 wins to 43 by himself. You guys are forgetting Marion was traded for Jermaine O’Neal, Michael Beasley and Mario Chalmers were drafted and Daequan Cook got an increased amount of minutes. He didn’t do it by himself, just like LeBron had Mo help him get 66 victories. He wasn’t the defensive player of the year either.

He can definitely get it, and I do believe he deserved it. Of everybody on the all-defensive 1st team him and D.Howard are the only deserving ones. And I’d say he defended better than Howard. Did yall watch how he played D in the Olympics? Against Joe Johnson in the 1st round of the playoffs? He is an elite defender. And he is a factor blocking shots.

Both instances you mentioned for his great defense have no affect on who wins the award. Everyone was motivated for the Olympics and yeah he did great against Joe Johnson but I think the award was given out already by that time.

He should have been on the NBA 1st all defensive team but i think they just gave that spot to Kobe (who’s defense is very overrated in my opinion)

i think you hit the nail on the head. i would be more cautious around wade than kobe if i had the ball in my hands.

or even if wade chasing me down on the fast break….that would make me very nervous…

Those were just examples I could think off the top of my head of how elite a defender he is. You know, games all basketball fans should have watched and would relate to.

I can understand that. I would much rather have your boy Iggy as my wing defender then Wade though.

Kobe being overrated on the defensive end. I seen Wade during games on TNT and the fact that he’d block a shot straight on, not no layup or dunk attempt. I’m talking about someone stopping, and shooting. He did it all last season. That game against…I can’t believe I don’t remember. The Game Winning 3? Well before that was hit didn’t he steal the ball?
Pretty much sums up his season. Carried his team, Defense, Clutch.

    Yeah, against Chicago

Steals the ball, jets down the otherside of the court..takes a miracle 3, and drills it

Point is, dude is a stud on both ends of the floor and that play sums it up. The Steal (Defense) The Shot (Offense) Game-Winner (15 Wins to 43) He carries that team on his back.

    Wade-less Heat?

    LeBron-less Cavs? (pre-shaq)

his sportmanship. if you can count how many times kobe or lebron whined like lil b!tches after a foul was called on them this year…that’d be too much counting. count how many tech’s they’ve been given. now look at wade, does he cry if a foul is called on him? how many techs does he get a year? maybe 2-5 range.

oh ya, and he’ll shake hands with his opponents…even if he loses….unlike a player i know.

D-Grizzly…Wade whines a lot. Every top player does and Wade is no exception, he also gets special treatment from refs. If you so much as breath on him, he is at the line shooting 2, that is why I stopped liking him. LeBron gets the same treatment too though (end of overtime game vs. Orlando).

Compared to an average player he complains a lot, to Kobe and LeBron not as much. Getting calls Wade is at the very top though.

Well I would too. I tell everybody that Iguodala is the best defender in the NBA. They always laugh and say he didnt make the all-defensive team. Craziness. Forgot to mention him

hes not a defensive stopper. he isnt a lock down player. sure he gets lots of steals and he plays the passing lanes too much just like chris paul. they gets lots of steals cuz they gamble. hes a good defensive player but howard was by far the best and deserved it.

You are asking the wrong question. The real question is: Who is better? Heat with LeBron or Cavs with Dwyane, again pre-Shaq.

i saw wade complain in the playoffs a bit more usual…but it was over a bullsh!t flagrant foul that should have just been a regular foul. it was against maurice evans too. he was running him down on the fast break…bumped him just enough as he swiped for the ball. also, he was boo-ed by the atlanta crowed after he came back onto the court – after josh smith laid him out with that loose-ball-foul that wasn’t called….and he didn’t complain on that one.

I have always thought that steal numbers can be very misleading. Sometimes you can just get a steal by standing around. If someone fumbles the ball and you pick it up, you get a steal. Like someone said yesterday, your teammate can do all the work, defelct the ball, and if you get it, it is your steal. That being said, Wade is a pretty good defender.

I am not citing specific instances. He just complains more then average. What star player doesn’t though?

a Star and he complains, but he hardly gets the calls. Then afterwards they show his arms and they usually have Cuts, Bruises, I guess you can call them Battle Scars. He has many of them and he doesn’t get the star treatment on fouls.
