Interesting end to the season on the tanking front.  Nets have incentive to break out some Ws with a strong win over the 76ers and playing over 500 ball over the last 10.  Trying to catch the Lakers or Suns just to shrink the Celtics odds of landing #1.  Suns in a total freefall losing last 13 but more entertaining than any point of the season.  Lakers coming on strong tonight with road win in San Antonio.  A little baffling to win into 3rd worst record this late with this years pick on the line to lose.  Jugding by the final 4 or less games the Celtics will land best 1st pick odds not falling out of top 3.  Suns will either tie or edge the Lakers for 2nd best odds at #1 and Lakers will chance falling out of 3rd pick if the ping pong ball bounces the Magic or 76ers way.  Heres a quick snapshot of these teams draft scenarios

Celtics:  Winning the lottery is their chance to draft a star or trade for a star.  My bet would be a trade down to 76ers.  Fultz or Jackson to Phila for Tatum and Okafor to Celtics.  Tatum could develop into a Paul Pierce type player and Okafor would be nice inside outside play Otherwise, winning the lottery can still become a predraft trade package for PG13 or Jimmy Butler.  Josh Jackson or Tatum would be a nice 2nd or 3rd pick.  Celtics go big…

Suns:  Winning the lottery is adding the best piece available.  Faith can be placed in GM Ryan McDonough.  Pulled off a two lottery pick addition last year and drafted D. Booker 13th similar to Lakers 13 pick in Kobe.  This years draft selection doesnt seem ideal for the Suns building project but could a trade down could be in order.  The Magic could be a partner.  Suns trade 1st pick Fultz, Bender, 2018 Miami pick for Aaron Gordon and 4th/5th pick of Tatum/Fox/Ntilikina.  Magic find their scoring guard stud in Fultz, potential in Bender and Miami pick.  Suns need to get bigger and score a college local in Gordon and nice talent options in the lottery pick.  Suns dont win lottery and its Jackson or Tatum.

Lakers:  Winning or not winning the lottery might end with Lonzo Ball.  Unless they miss the draft completely Ball seems destined to be in purple and gold.  Could really boost the uptempo play and make a little "showtime" with the tutelage of Magic Johnson.  If Ball goes before Lakers pick then Fox could be the next best pick.  Magic’s 1st pick as Lakers president in a point guard heavy draft will surely be a point guard.  Time to change the pace in Lakerland.

Any thoughts on whos going where with these 3 teams?  Trade scenarios?

I think you are valuing Gordon a little high.  He isn’t a superstar.  Fultz has the ability to become one.  If you’re going to trade out of the number 1 pick you certainly don’ t offer another lottery pick (Bender) and a potential lottery pick (Miami’s if they miss the playoffs).  Just my opinion.  I do like the idea of a high flying player to play with with these Suns but that is a steep price.

At this point the odds are against the Lakers keeping their pick.

since the lotto started, there have only been a few times that there has not been atleast 1 team to jump into the top 3, and never has it happenend on back to back years.

the Lakers failed at tanking. (Again)

As a Suns fan I don’t see us trading down I think we take BPA if an ideal positional choice has gone but Josh Jackson or Tatum look ideal targets if we think our backcourt is too crowded.

But we are a lottery team because we’ve had a heavy losing season, often we overlook this and when looking for needs think there are good players in whatever positions, we don’t need to draft there. Apart from Booker I’d say all other positions could be looked at as a possible upgrade via draft if management thought appropriate.
