Couple of guys nearing 20,000 points

 Two notable NBA veterans Pau Gasol and Joe Johnson are both very near to becoming only the 42nd and 43rd player to reach 20,000 career points. Joe is around 50 points away and Pau under 70, I’m typing this as games may be ongoing so exact figure could change. And with only 6 or 7 games left in regular season the landmark may have to wait until next season if either is shut down for the upcoming play off battles.

Both guys are now in their 16th season in the NBA but still putting up good performances. Joe made an interesting move to Utah this season when a lot of us thought he might he might go to one of the top 5 teams and go all out for a title even if it meant a reduced role. But he decided to go and be part of an evolving Utah team which has made the play offs comfortably and may reach 50 wins this year.

Pau made a more expected move to the Spurs despite not needing to chase a title as say Joe might have been expected to. Pau has ironically now taken on a bench role since returning from injury and has given the Spurs an interesting dimension. It will be interesting to see if he remains in this role or if Pops opts for his experience back in his starters come play offs.
