Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantThe Pelicans made a splash with a huge steal for DeMarcus Cousins during ASW. I still believe they are a move or two away from being a dominant team. So far, this team highlights Etwuan Moore and Solomon Hill as their 2 wings and I think anybody will tell you, these two are not NBA Championship wings.
I think there are a few moves the Pelicans can make to move them into playoff contention and help them become a tough out in the playoffs.
I think it’s simple of the Pelicans, move Asik or Ajinca and move Terrence Jones or Dante Cunningham while trying to get rid of Solomon Hill. One trade I’ve thought about was trading Asik and Cunningham for Iman Shumpert and DeAndre Liggins. Cavs get depth downlow, which LeBron has been asking for. Pelicans get a solid defensive wing that can hit the 3 ball.
In another trade, the Pelicans can combine Terrence Jones excellent production in limited minutes on a 950k contract to Solomon Hill’s 11m/yr with limited production as well as a draft pick to get themselves a decent SF.
What moves do you guys think the Pelicans should make to complete their roster?

warson24Asik is unmoveable, he’s worthless, even so he has a horribly huge contract… you can’t just swap him… especially for a useable guard like Shumpert… Jeez…. Yearly 11 M until 2020, impossible to trade unless you throws in at least one first rounder. And Cunningham also not a sweetener, just a garbage tweener…
Solomon Hill is also horribly bad, but is more moveable since the 3-and-D fiction, maybe with a pick and Jones but not for a decent SF, just to unload him…
I’m high on TJ, but nobody wanted him past offseason (that’s why he’s on that minimum contract), so he’s worth is close to nothing as a 2 month rental…
The sad true is that the Pelicans roster is full of garbage on bad contracts, all assets they had (that isn’t much) are now in Sacto…
That’s an uphill battle to make soemthing out of this roster, NOLA should be happy they have now the 2 best bigs in the league, until the deadline they can only do some makeups, but can’t nearly complete a decent roster0 - Posted on: Tue, 02/21/2017 - 12:33pm #1092621

MatosParticipantThe rest of their roster outside of Holiday (maybe Caspi now) should be dumped/traded. Really. They need to grab some shooters, both on the wing and behind their bigs. You don’t want to tire DMC and Davis out with 40 minsgame so its important to keep the scoring coming in the front court when they hit the bench. Jrue is a good defender but they need to get him some help now in the back-court. Good news is that they can create more cap room and sign some vets. This move helped their attractiveness as a potential desitination for free-agents this off season.

frogmanParticipantThe Cavs are basically building their team to beat the Warriors. Asik would get no minutes against the Warriors and Shumpert would be way more valuable.

frogmanParticipantThe Pelicans really can’t make that many moves with their current roster. They shouldn’t get too ahead of themselves as they are not winning the league this season so they need to be patient. If they can somehow convince some team to take on some of their bad contracts and a 2nd round pick or two for expiring deals they could build in the offseason and use their mid level exception.
Players like JJ Redick or Jodie Meeks might be tempted in free agency.
It’s not going to be easy but management somehow made their future a lot better over the last couple of days.
And who the hell thought giving Solomon Hill $12,000,000 a year was a good idea!? His and Asik’s contracts are going to hurt this team.

You just made my day!
Stephenson (!!!) and Barnes makes them champsionship caliber team :D:D:D:D
and than Fredette and Wroten :D:D:D:D do you think the Pels are preparing to reach the Chinese CBA playoffs? Wroten can’t even help his team to D-League playoffs, just like Goodwin
You’re either the biggest troll I’ve ever seen or you should just watch ballet and let any sport in distant with you0

r377ParticipantThey have too many bad contracts to do much. Next season $86mill and they still gotta pay Holiday. Then, later need to sign Cousins.
Holiday and Davis are injury prone, at best they have three decent starters and not much else. No draft pick this year, then next year will be borderline playoff team so not good enough to draft a star impact player.
You still have chemistry issues with Cousins. Multiple GMs around the league said they wouldn’t touch him in a trade – even if he was free !!!

BeastMode716Participantsee New Orleans re-sell the All Star Center in another Block-buster trade a year from now.
If New Orleans feels as though the Brow & the Boog don’t mesh well they can still turn around & trade Boogie for a Gigantic haul.
Think about it. What if Boogie & Brow just don’t mesh well & that is entirely possible b/c of Boogie’s "Brid Rights" going to whichever team owns Boogie’s rights or it is even possible that Boggie could verbally agree to an extension
I’m just throwing this out there – if you don’t like it – send it right on back! 😉
I’m not saying I believe this Will happen but over the last couple we’ve all debated who is to blame in Sac-town: Boogie or Kings Upper Management & Ownership?
Now we’ll get a chance to find out the answer.

OhCanada-ParticipantIf Lance Stephenson joins this team 5hey will be personally one of my favourite teams to watch all time. He really fits perfectly as well with Boogie and AD being two mobile big with perimeter games.

Untouchable JParticipantI sense the same delusion some people had when the Warriors signed KD and people worried ‘oh no how will they fill the roster!"
Obviously not exact parallels but the point is talent trumps ALL. When you have front line horses plural you quickly find out how the guys who ‘suck’ can quickly become ‘role players ‘ and ‘glue guys’. They’re often the same guy! You just ask the guy that sucks to do LESS surrounded by stars. See James Posey. See Trevor Ariza. So Solomon Hill just got better. Jrue Holiday just got better. Matt Barnes could be an immediate starter or 6th man. It will NOT be that hard lol
Yea it’ll be tough to get them to ‘they can win a title ‘ level bc that will require a 4th high caliber guy, but look at the Rockets roster and how Harden lifts them all up. Next year with a tweak here or there NO should be in play for a top 3 seed
Short term: Resign Jrue, Hope Solomon Hill makes it happen at the 3, sign a starting quality 2 who can create a lil
Long term: gotta get rid of those contracts and sign a all star caliber wing

OhCanada-ParticipantAre you kidding me? Is everybody smelling glue or drinking mouthwash? Im interested in the trade I can’t wait to watch them play as a fan, but I can’t help but remember.
When has Cousins made any of his teammates better? Not a single rookie has flourished aside him. The only young player I remember having any success was Thomas and he got traded from the team
These guys aren’t the Warriors overnight. This is not similar to the KD signing in anyway. Come on. Curry, Thompson, and Green have played on one team thier whole career. Barnes was aldo a big part of that nucleus before being swapped for KD. They also brought along very important vets and had them agree to settle in as role players Igoudala, Bogut (now Pachulia), Livingston.
A top 3 seed? Is that so. So it’s GSW, SA and the NOLA because Cousins is there. Forget about the Clippers, Rockets, Jazz and let’s just bank on the Pelicans winning 55 games all of a sudden.
He is still DeMarcus Cousins no matter how hard he tries to be someone else. Davis and Holiday are still made of glass. New Orleans still has some of the best nightlife and is right next to Boogies home Alabama which should raise it’s own issues.
Yall sipping on that Kool aid for real.

Untouchable JParticipantWell the Clippers are going nowhere and history would imply they fall off before they magically improve , wth the SAME exact team for almost 5 years now.
Also, fun fact, they are not currently a top 3 seed. And Blake Griffin is a FA
Your inclusion of Houston and Utah, 2 teams who have made a significant rise up the standings from last year to this, actually prove my point. Thanks
And yea I’m willing to bank that Cousins can make as much as an impact of Eric Gordon for Houston and George Hill and Boris Diaw for Utah. Call me crazy
note: Hayward is also a FA
