    Orlando Magic: Sellers

    • I’m hoping management accesses the smart part of their brain and act aggressively as a seller this deadline. The challenge though is that they’re not coming from a position of strength with several of their players they need to move (i.e low performance, positional saturation, contract situation, etc….). Look for Orlando to make more head-scratching (sell-low) decisions between now and the 23rd.

    Toronto: Easily, Buyers

    • Their window is a little tighter with Demar & Lowry being in the middle of their prime. I’m hoping they continue to discuss deals for players like Millsap, Gallinari, Ibaka. A higher volume stretch 4 would make them very interesting come playoff time.

    Miami Heat: Buyers

    • Who would have thought this 1 month ago??? I would love to see them make a move that contributes to their recent surge toward the playoffs. Ibaka is the most interesting name for me here.

    Milwaukee: Sellers

    • It pains me to write this. Jabari Parker is one of my favorite players to watch, but his 12 month ACL recovery timetable & Giannis’ now being locked into a new 4 yr contract make selling a viable strategy. They have several assets that could appeal to playoff contending teams (John Henson, Greg Monroe, Mirza Teletovic). Maybe they can flip them for talented, unproven players on rookie deals (Bobby Portis, Rondae-Hollis, Cam Payne types…) or future draft picks.

     LAC – sell

This won’t happen – they’ve come this far, I’m sure they’ll want a final crack at the title before they bust up the core, but it’s very hard to see them getting through the west. They should unload CP3 and Blake for the maximum, because their market values will plummet the second teams realise the Clips are going for the rebuild.

Detroit – buyers. They have a young core, lots of talent, they should make some sort of a move to bring in another piece that can help them

i just saw the Detroit vs Toronto game today and Ish Smith is a way better fit for this team then Reggie Jackson. Ish along with Harris and some big shots from KCP got them the win and Ish played 31 mins to Reggies 17 I think. As a Thunder guy I already knew about what kind of personality Jackson is and it seems that van Gundy and the Pistons fan base now know the same. I think Reggies contract and his personality is kind of hard to move but I wouldn’t be surprised if they just somehow want to unload him. I wouldn’t also be surprised if a team like the kings or maybe the magic would offer something the Pistons just take to get rid of Jackson and I really believe now they are going to shop him hard.

While I agree that the Pistons have some pieces like Harris, KCP and especially Morris’ contract I think Jackson is the one who we will see moved at this point. Maybe swap Ibaka with Jackson for a rental of Serge just to get rid of Reggie. Ibaka btw has kind of nicely bounced back from a horrible start with the Magic and might fit okay next to Drummond, Harris and Morris.

     Buyers: Pacers, Washington, Nuggets, Heat

Pacers are the team that should be looking to buy more so than any other team. I listen to WEEI Boston sports talk radio every morning, and they still have some weird faith that Paul George is on the block. WRONG! The Pacers are in a great spot right now. Turner, George, and Teague (Who has been great since monta went to the bench) is a fantastic core to have, and Thad is a great #4 option who can play good D and switch onto perimeter players. If they can add another piece at the deadline they could look to make some noise in the second round. Honestly they would be a tough out for the Celtics, or whoever gets the #2 or #3 seed.

If I was them, I would look to get a solid shooting guard, one who can either start or come off the bench and add instant offense. Honestly, if they could somehow get Wilson Chandler, or even someone like Brandon Knight there team would be way more consistent and dangerous.

The Nuggets are the only other team that I mentioned that might not seem like obvious buyers, but I think they should be. They just made the trade for Plumlee, but they shouldn’t stop there. They have great depth at ever position but PG, and are starting to turn the corner with the emergence of Jokic, and the consistent play from Gary Harris, Chandler, and others. If they could get a legitimate PG they could have a team that resembles the #2 seed in the East the Boston Celtics, except better, and with more depth.

Personally, I would like to see them trade for an established vet, who can score, shoot, and pass at an above average rate. Some like Dragic, Deron Williams, or Eric Bledsoe would all solidify the Nuggets as a playoff team, and still give them room to grow.

    Sellers: Bulls, Magic

Both of these are obvious sellers, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see both these teams blow it up next week, and start from scratch.

One team that I could see becoming sellers that are under the radar are the Wolves. They have too many players playing who just simply won’t be on the roster in two years. Rubio, Dieng, Shabazz, Payne, and everyone else on their roster not named Dunn, Wiggins, KAT, or Lavine are all pieces that should, and could be moved.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see them move some of these guys to veteran teams for additional second round picks, bench players that aren’t playing but still have potential to develope.

I don’t understand how the Bulls constantly overvalue their players/roster over what every other team/front office in the league values them/it.

Jimmy Butler is 27, entering his prime.  The Bulls last 3 1st Rounders are McDermott, Portis, Valentine.  They couldn’t get a 1st rounder for either of those players and all 3 of them barely get into games (McDermott being the only one of the 3 that contributes).

I see that you are a Celtics fan.  I know that MOST Celtics fans on draft websites feel that Butler isn’t worth the 2 Nets picks (however, Garnett & Pierce weren’t worth those picks either, to be fair) but those are the ONLY assets in the league that would make sense for Chicago.  Those 2 picks and 1-2 younger players from past drafts (Marcus Smart?).

The Bulls have a realistic shot, with a couple of loaded drafts, to blow it up.  Get a Top 3, Top 7 (Chicago’s own pick, assuming they start losing a ton of games), and a Top 13 pick in this year’s draft (they would probably help push Sacramento out of the Top 10, another big bonus for them to prevent the pick from extinguishing into nothing).  They would then have a couple of picks in the Top 10 next year in the draft.

5 lottery picks in a couple of loaded drafts gets you closer to being competitive (and gets Fred Hoiberg, your coach that cannot seemingly connect with the current roster in any way, a chance to help implement an offense around rookies with talent opposed to All-Stars that are a bit more rigid in their ways).

Boston gets a Top 3 2-way SF/SG to help them actually go for it.  Heck, they can make the trade more interesting by trying to add Taj Gibson by adding a 3rd team.  Boston is ready to go NOW.  Chicago is years away from providing a 2nd player for Butler (Wade is better served on a WIN NOW team than on the Bulls) and that COULD coincide with the downswing of Cleveland/GoldenState.  But instead, Chicago will stand pat and hope for a 1st round exit and years of basketball HELL.

I’ve heard Dallas, Phoenix and Chicago have all shown interest at some point

I think he’d be best served to get traded to the Bulls for McDermott and a 1st round pick

Gives the Bulls a young big to draw a double team, might be what Jimmy needs to open up the floor a bit…

Toronto has to make some moves. Lowry is upset and a pending free agent. He almost left for New York last time before resigning and at this point Masi Ujiri has to do everything he can to prove to Kyle he wants to win.

What the hell is Lowry upset over at this point? Raptors are a top-three team in the East and got to the conference finals last year?

Not saying what you are saying is wrong but can someone explain what he’d be unhappy about?

"I’m angry, I’ll go play for the Knicks"…good logic.
