llperezAs many intelligent hoop heads we have around here, I highly doubt any of us know the first restricted free agent to have his offer matched. So basically you want us to be Google for you.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantBefore 1988 all free agents were basically restricted. Players weren’t allowed to sign with another team without that team giving serious compensation to the team they were taking the player from. That’s why players rarely switched teams in those days except for being traded. Unrestricted free agency was introduced as part of the 1988 collective bargaining agreement. Tom chambers was the first big name free agent to take advantage when he left Seattle for Phoenix.
Doesn’t answer your question exactly but at least forced me to do some research.
