sheltwon3ParticipantLakers signed Luol Deng to a long contract so more than likely he will be starting. Ingram does not look to play a lot early and D’Angelo has taken some heat from Lakers fans. Westbrook is good as gone next year and OKC is looking at rebuilding. Some say Ingram is a lot like Durant so this could be the deal that helps save Jim Buss job and makes the Lakers a great spot for free agents again.
Will OKC do it and is giving up both Ingram and Russell neccessary when you know Westbrook will be available next year?
Durant’s move may be a blessing in disguise for the Lakers.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantWhy would they when they can get him for free next year

kobyzParticipantIf they trade for him they could sign him for extension next year using bird rights, his cap hold will be much lower than the cap space they will need to sign him straight up, so it will leave them with much more money to bring another big fish…

PatrickMurphyParticipantI remember that Carmelo wanted the Knicks to trade for him rather than wait to sign him as a free agent, so that he would be eligible for a bigger contract.
Could Westbrook do something similar with the Lakers?
Carmelo got killed for being selfish, given that the Knicks would have been better if they had Carmelo and all the trade assets.
Ingram and Russell would be a nice return, though.

OhCanada-ParticipantWilling to bet Westbrook does not play for L.A. Every year the hype train crashes right in thier living room. Love, Aldridge, Biyombo, Derozan, etc. was supposed to suit up for L.A. but did any of them even have interviews? Should just be content building through the draft and be happy they have Luke Walton at the helm. Maybe next year they can sign Brandon Jennings for the max, seems more likely then getting Westbrook.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantThink he is going to the Knicks. His company is in NYC (Barneys) and he loves it there. Derozan is from LA and didnt go, maybe Russ goes, but i would say either NYC or LA

llperezMaybe Russ embraces being the man in Oklahoma and staying in one place. Its one reason why the fans need to not cross the line with the anti KD hate in OKC. Becasue i think if westbrook sees them going overboard and saying hateful things its only likely to make him think about how the fans are about themseleves and make him think about himself next summer.
