sheltwon3ParticipantThey should just trade some of their extras for pieces they need.

d-grizzlyParticipantI don’t see new jersey keeping lee as the SG of the future…no hate on this guy..but he should be a great bench player his whole career.
(grizzlies) i wouldn’t mind losing warrick and carrol.. for maybe someone like lee and someone else to backup mayo.

llperezis New Jersey’s surplus? I do feel like Portland has a surplus of young talent that compete for minutes.

gatorheelsParticipantThe thing about New Jersey is…all these players only have 1 year left on their contract. So the Nets can get the players they need through 2010 free agency because they will have a lot of cash.
Boone/Williams/Jianlian- are any of these players legit starting PFs? Well if they don’t prove it this year they will be let go.
Hayes/Hassell/Simmons- all 3 of these guys will be let go…none of them have any trade value which sucks
Alston will be gone after this season.
Courtney Lee/CDR/TWill- they need to trade one or two of these players. I think all these guys are better suited to be backups. I wouldn’t want any of them to be my starting SG or SF.
Obviously Lopez will be resigned.
New Jersey just has to stay patient and hope some of these young guys really develop this year. With all that money to spend, building a real good team around Harris & Lopez shouldn’t be that difficult.

JNixonParticipantIts real clear what New Jerseys thinking, “we HAVE to get LeBron James and go to Brooklyn”

sheltwon3ParticipantI hear you on that but I like Lee offensively. His only knock is too small on D. His offensive game is legit though. Also I remember when people overlooked Caron Butler for a minute when he got hurt and Wade was regulating in Miami. He played alright in LA but Kobe was hurt and then not get to team up and then he was traded to Washington and became an All Star. Joe Johnson got traded to Phoenix for hardly anything and he became a better player and is a top star for Atlanta now. You can not always look at a player’s production early on and say they will not be a starter or a star. Lee should be the starter. Williams still need more time because he is inconsistent. I don’t know where CDR fits. Josh Boone is a solid forward or center but he is mainly a back up. Hayes is a nice back up that should be cheap so they may resign him. Simmons will leave for a contender. Dont know where Hassel will be. He may be done in this league unless he can find a team an he sign for cheap as a role player.

sheltwon3ParticipantThe Lebron thing makes sense because they key young talent at the point guard and Center position. If they add any stars they should be a contender in the playoffs.

gatorheelsParticipantExactly..
The Nets & Knicks will be battling over free agents….good thing there is enough good players that both teams should find what they are looking for

doubledribblerParticipantI think New Jersey is in good shape. They have a lot of guys with value, if only for their expiring contracts, but I doubt they would take any guy on unless he was a superstar or was a young player that fit into their future. Also, the Nets get to see how a lot of these guys are going to pan out in their last year.
As for Lee, the guy can play. I saw him make a lot of defensive mistakes in the finals against Kobe, but he will learn from them. He gained a lot of experience in his first year. I think he will be an excellent starting shooting guard for years to come. Think at worst a guy like Eddie Jones, who was a nice player most of his career. Not great, but could start for most teams.
Does anyone know if the Nets are even going to make it to Brooklyn? I haven’t heard anything about that in awhile. The last I heard was that everything was probably going to be delayed until 2011. Either way, they will add somebody with all the money they have. Harris, Lopez and whoever should form a nice team.
