Will Rookies Hold out and are these contracts worth more then gold?

Looking at the current pay scale I wonder if the incoming rookie class plans to holdout on signing contracts. People say Simmons is the next big thing and I don’t see him signing the current rookie contract. If he signs a rookie deal under the current Pay Structure he would recieve 4,919,330 year 1 and 5,140,700 year 2. The new CBA I wouldnt be surprised if the first pick gets 10 million per year first year. I know people are going to say this is crazy but 110 Mil cap divided 15 players is 7.3 Million per player. If the players don’t hold out these are the most valuable draft picks in years? taking a look at a team like the celtics we have 6 guys on rookie deals Smart, KO, Rozier, Hunter, Young and Mickey for a total of 11 million next year add in the three picks this year were around 16 Million on 9 players. I’m just using the celtics as an example but that would leave 94 million to spend on 6 players. Other teams in the NBA would be in the same boat so if your a rookie coming in do you hold out or do you sign. If they do hold out what happens to them are they free agents the following year?? Also what is the Veteran Minimum going to be its currently at 1.4 million and you have to think that would atleast double if the cap jumps as expected.

The year before the NFL made rookie contracts a set salary guys were jumping in the draft so they could negoiate deals. You see players like Rabb who took themselves out of the draft when he would have been a top 5 pick. You don’t need a rookie union not to sign a contract. If you think your worth more money you hold out til you get it.

  The rookie scale is negotiated in the NBA CBA. They set a rookie scale to stop this exact thing from happening. If Ben Simmons doesn’t want to sign his rookie deal for more money, then he won’t ever get paid.

Can you imagine Anthony Bennett getting paid more than 10 million a year?
If NBA guys are good, they’ll get massive money on their second contract. That’s why guys leave so early. That second contract is huge. The first contract is fine for top picks, it isn’t huge but they haven’t earned a thing yet. There should be a scale for these guys.

There are minimum contracts even for rookies, any reduction in rookie contract length won’t happen as it ties in with most other NBA contracts in maximum length. I personally feel that no 2nd round guy should get more than 30th pick in the same draft personally.
Ben will get much more than original poster said at least $5.7 million for his first year as KAT got that amount this season just gone as first pick. Heck Ben will get loads of endorsements on top of his rookie deal and if he lives up to the hype will get a mega 2nd contract to start in 2020.
