thricethefunParticipantDo you have him as the better prospect?

Hype MachineI’m gonna say no….and I really like Josh Jackson
ESPN has him #2, DX has him #4, and NBADraft.net has him #1. I have Josh Jackson, followed by Harry Giles in 2017.
Simmons has pretty much been unanimous since his Junior HS year (barring a few brain-fades by draft sites along the way).
I’ve seen the Tmac/Wiggins comparison on this site and I’m pretty happy with that. All those guys had insane athleticism, great size and good skills, but none of them really had top-tier ‘feel for the game’ that guys like Kobe and Lebron have.
Simmons has an extremely high IQ to go along with a more skilled game, so I’m going to put him #1 and Josh Jackson #2 in this draft.

JordanC20ParticipantI think he’d go about 4th…higher than Hield and Murray but behind Simmons Ingram and Bender,

nath09ParticipantA bit off topic but I was reading on hoopshype rumors that there a quite a few GMs who have Bender outside the lottery in their mocks. I found that astounding.

MopgrassParticipantI’m always impressed with scouts who catch guys early. I saw Ben Simmons as a junior and thought he looked great, but not #1 great. They were clearly right. By the end of last year, I got it. But kudos to the guys who were adamant about him right off the bat.

Untouchable JParticipant‘Older than all their comp’ players scare me. With that bit of knowledge i’d also have him at #3

Butter13ParticipantI once saw Jackson play in a summer league game and he was really awful. I see people here hyping him up, but I just can’t get the image of that game out of my mind. Maybe he was tired or something, but he definitely didn’t look like a top 3 NBA Draft prospect.

holefillers1ParticipantI agree. Didn’t see that summer league game you mentioned but something about Jackson’s game is off. I am more worried about what I don’t see in the highlights than what I do see. No pull up jumper. No post up game. His game is driving to the rack and dunking the ball. He may slide like Jaylen Brown did once we get a look at him against college players. What does he do when the lane is all clogged up? I would take Jayson Tatum over JJ. I think his Offense is more advanced and though he isn’t as athletic as Jackson there is something about the smoothness of his game that has me thinking Paul Pierce.

evantomesParticipantIt doesn’t sound like you’ve seen Jackson play. "His game is driving to the rack and dunking the ball", what about his passing/court vision, stepback, defense, transition game, etc?

holefillers1ParticipantI was speaking more towards Tatum’s sweet midrange game. Jackson definitely has the skills to show out in the fall. I have only seen a couple full games of his and one was basically a showcase event. In addition to a bunch of highlights. He does a lot of things well, I haven’t seen what he does best. Also his set shot, brings it all the way up from his waist…takes forever. In my opinion he is more Jimmy Butler than Tracy McGrady. I’m not trying to hate on the guy, Butler is the man but he is not Paul Pierce, as I stated above is my current Tatum comp.

theballerwayParticipantIf he shows any sign of a college level jump shot then yes. Look all this Simmons can pass and has uber vision is great but I like my teams to score and not have to rely on one guy for assist. At maybe an nch or 2 at most shorter you got a athletic 2/3 who can get stuck in at both ends,I already have Ingram over Simmons in my mock so naturally Id take Jackson(smaller but more athletic version). Im looking for alpha/go to guys with a number 1 pick.

circumlocution75ParticipantIf Simmons could Not pass & had Zero court vision he’s an above the Rim, Explosive Monster………. w/ the size & Scoring ability of a Harry Giles or Blake Griffin……..
And after reading the ESPN Insider piece today it sounds like he’s got Kobe’s work ethic………. I Luv Josh Jackson but he’s 4 inches shorter than Simmons W/O the court Vision……..
It’s not a Knock on Jackson – he’s a Stud……. It’s just that Simmons is That Rare………

Untouchable JParticipantThis is pretty funny and accurate. Its as if people forget he’s a 6’10 manchild. Sinc when do those come off the assembly line with jumpshots?? lol that kid is walkin in the door no less than 16 and 9.

theballerwayParticipanthe’s an above the Rim, Explosive Monster- really
Im not even knocking him as an athlete hes smooth got some quicks and moves really well considering his size infact he makes you forget at times that he is that tall but explosive monster nah. Not a knock agree hes rare and this is just about personal taste really. If hes a monster then I wonder how youd describe Jackson.
to each their own eh

Al PerezParticipantpeople say Jackson > Wiggins…..not going to ever happen end of story…..Josh Jackson is like a Jason Richardson……And Wiggins is so freaking graceful athletically. People expecting a monster season at Kansas or one that will be better than Wiggins need to relax and let him play a game against real competition first.

steviechillzParticipantAs of right now, I would take Simmons over Jackson. But I’d take him #2. Has supreme athleticism and can only get better. Seems like a guy who has a killer instinct too(something Ben Simmons clearly lacks)

Andrew1984ParticipantI saw them both at their respective Hoop Summits, and Simmons lived up to the hype without question, while Jackson was barely even noticeable.

FritzParticipantComing from a die hard KU fan, this is a no brainer. Its Simmons. Jackson is way too much of an unknown right now, and unless he shocked teams in work outs I dont think you could justify taking him over Ingram, and likely not until the 4th or 5th pick. Jackson could very well come into college and be underwhelming, which I think is more than likely due to really high expectations. I dont think Jackson is quite the level of prospect Wiggins was, but very close. Jackson like Wiggins, was rated really high in high school because of potential not because he is was the best player. I dont think he will have the polish in his game that people are hyping him for year one at Kansas.
I do think Jackson could be viewed as a better prospect at the end of next year, but I have not seen enough yet to justify passing up a very rare skillset and prospect that Bill Simmons has.
