The Scare Crow RisesParticipant1. Is the championship window closing on Lebron and the Cavs?
2. Who makes the 1st Big Trade/Signing of the Summer?
3. Who takes the biggest reach in the lottery?
4. Who will be the draft’s highest riser and lowest faller?
5. Who’s about to get seriously overpaid in Free Agency?
6. Who looks like he’ll be the biggest steal in Free Agency?
7.What team or teams can completely transform the NBA like the Boston or Miami Big 3’s?
8. What team effectively takes a nose dive this off season and pulls a Philadelphia for a few seasons?

SwaggyQ3Participant1. Without a doubt
2. Sixers with Noel
3. Kings with Ellenson
4. Riser is Chriss, Faller is Baldwin
5. Bradley Beal maybe Biyombo
6. Eric Gordan
7. Celtics(if they add Durant)
8. Bulls

high floorParticipant1.) I don’t think so.. Lebron will keep Cleveland in the championship picture for at least 2-3 more years unless something big happens via trade or FA for an up and coming EC team
2.) I think Boston is ripe for a big trade this offseason. They are disappointed that they were bounced in the 1st round this year, and I think Ainge has something up his sleeve.
3.) I think Phoenix makes a reach for a controversial big man
4.) Highest riser is Marquese Chriss. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Phoenix take him at #4 with some good/great workouts
5.) I think Marvin Williams is going to get overpaid. Likely 3-4 years @ 15mil per year. He had a really nice season last year, but he was in a great system that played to his strengths and I don’t think it will tranlate to half the teams in the league. Always a recipe for trouble with 30yo free agents
6.) I pick Evan Fournier & Terrence Jones. I think he could be an above average SG in this league as soon as next year, and he still has room to improve. Jones was AWFUL last year, but I think that was a byproduct of injuries and dysfunction in HOU. If someone can get him for a 3yr deal under 10mil per season, I think he could bounce back nicely with consistent minutes.
7.) I can’t see any teams forming a new big 3 this offseason. Maybe if Durant & Lebron take a 1+1 contract this summer and their teams implode next year… then a new big 3 could take shape in 2017-18
8.) I also don’t think any teams taking a Philly-esque nosedive this summer. Maybe if Brooklyn decides to trade Brook & Thad for picks.. but early reports are that they are keeping them next season.

zcnumerounoParticipant1. Most definitely, especially with the West being so strong and the rest of the East is getting better
2. Sixers trading Noel… or perhaps Okafor
3. Whomever takes Chriss… He’s athletic and talented, but soooooo raw.
4. Chriss and Skal if the Suns don’t snatch him at 13.
5. Bismack Biyombo… looked like the second coming of Ben Wallace in the playoffs
6. Possibilites include: Evan Fournier, Jeremy Lin, Kent Bazemore (don’t think he’ll get as much as some think), Meyers Leonard – potentially elite stretch 4/5
7. With all the assets they have, the Celtics are the only team I can see transforming the NBA, however this seems unlikely.
8. Hopefully Brooklyn, possibly Kings if they move Boogie and maybe Memphis if they let Conley walk.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantBut I’ll give you my quick take
1. I think it’ll definitely be harder going forward for the Cavs and Lebron will start showing signs of his age, maybe they can make a Big Trade surrounding Irving or Love to put them over the top, IDK what team makes that happen for them though…So if they can’t get that missing piece I think the window has begun to close on LBJ and his Cavs
2.All signs are pointing to Boston/LA/Philadelphia on Draft Night, but I really could see a team like Atlanta get busy on Draft Night as well, maybe Milsap for the 5th?
3. Seems like Boston/Phoenix/Minnesota could all take a huge reach as they don’t need to play it too safe (Boston is playing with house money, The Suns and Wolves both have young talent in the backcourt) I said it first a few weeks back that Chriss makes so much sense in the Top 5 it’s scary I think the Suns or Wolves would jump right on the MC hype train
4. Highest Risers Chriss and D. Murray in the Top 7 (The Pels could use a dynamic G to play with AD, Dejounte is very dynamic IMO)
Lowest Drop, as much as I hate to say this, Domatas Sabonis and Denzel Valentine could be picked in the 20’s even though I love them both, teams will likely take younger prospects leaving these 2 in that 20-28 range, every year someone falls that shouldn’t DS and DV are my picks this year
5. Whiteside, Barnes, Ezeli and Biyombo are about to make a fanbase dry heave in their mouth in July, only Barnes feel like a decent overpay candidate simply because I’d like to see him in a bigger role, the Big Guys are all going to gauge a Team’s Cap Space and provide very little outside of some interior defense, which could be had cheaply with Good 1st round selections
6. A guy like Delladova could fly right under the radar and give a team a great boost off the bench, also Dwight Howard might come at a fair price tag and for name sake alone he’d be a steal at 10-13 million per
7. Boston and possibly LA could swing for the fences, but don’t count out a Dark Horse like Washington or Portland, trading Beal for Butler and Howard signing could make The Wizards interesting in a playoff series, Portland could add a Star and really take off IMO
8. I think Atlanta and Houston HAVE to consider blowing it up
Horford can leave outright, why not sign and trade him and get back an asset?
Why not try to trade Milsap to Sota or Toronto for the 5th or 9th pick?
Move Teague to Philadelphia for Noel if possible? (76ers fans hate this trade, but it has been discussed)
And Houston only has Harden, why not offer him to Boston for that Godfather deal of Smart + Olynyk + Picks #3 and #16 of the 2016 Draft?

901GrizzParticipant1. No. I think LeBron keeps the Cavs relevant for several more years. They should make some moves this offseason tho.
2. Lakers/Celtics
3. Kings
4. Riser Chriss. Faller, maybe Skal. I certainly wouldn’t take him in the lottery.
5. Ezeli. I like him as a player. But I def think he’ll get overpaid for what he brings to a team.
6. Possibly Noah. Not sure what kind of money he’s looking for. But if he takes a reduced salary somewhere he could be a huge steal. When healthy impacts the game like few can.
7. Celtics. They have a good coach. A good GM. Great young pieces. A high lottery pick. They could be an interesting team this offseason.
8. Can’t really see it for any team. My team, the Grizzlies, are definitely going through a transition. New coach. Older roster. Might lose Conley. I really can’t envision them tanking like the Sixers. Only other team I can think of is the Nets.

GlenTaylorSucksParticipant1) As currently constructed, yes. They badly need to either get a bunch of 2 way players, or learn to figure out how to hide the awful defense of Love and Irving.
2) My money is on Philly, Boston, or Phoenix, given their 10000 picks
3) If the Chriss to either Boston or Phx (or whoever trades into 3 or 4) rumors are true and not just a smokescreen, that. Its absolutely ridiculous this guy is even sniffing the top 10.
4) Chriss the riser, Levert the faller.
5) Whiteside is gonna make whoever maxes him look foolish. Despite his block numbers, hes not actually a very good defender by pretty much all metrics, and even the eye test shows he tends to chase blocks in favor of fundamentally sound defense and rebounding.
6) Some team will be able to get Eric Gordon on the cheap and be very happy with the value.
7) Towns, Wiggins and whoever steps up as the third in Minny. It wont be for like 3-4 years though.
8) Memphis.

blackflash234Participant1. I don’t think so. LeBron has proven to be a pretty durable player throughout this career and I could see him continuing to play at a high level and willing his team to at least 3-4 more NBA Finals.
2. I think the Sixers or Boston. Maybe with each other with Okafor going to Boston for the 3rd pick.
3. The Raptors with Maker only to look like geniuses in a couple of years.
4. Riser is Chriss, faller is Dunn with his shoulder and some teams not being able to see his medical.
5. Bradley Beal. I like him and in spurts he’s proven to be a pretty good NBA player but why would the Wizards come out and say they’re giving him the max? Why didn’t they lock him up at the beginning of the season? Management in Washington isn’t very good and Durant would be a fool to go there.
6. Donatas Montiejunas. Been a fan of his for awhile and with Detroit hurting his free agent value, could probably be had for cheap. Another darkhorse is Derrick Williams. He finally started to show some of the talent that made him the 2nd overall pick back in 2011. The question becomes can he do this given more minutes?
7, Definitely Boston with their warchest of picks and assets. Darkhorse would be Toronto. Nobody talks about them as a team lurking in waiting for the Durant sweepstakes but they were one of the final 4 teams this year in the playoffs. Durant loves Toronto and his favourite rapper is Drake who’s an ambassador for the team. That doesn’t mean anything though but at least they’ll get a sit down and with Masai Ujiri who’s a top 3 GM in this league. Who knows if Durant shocks the world and says he’s coming to Toronto. Someone brought up this that with LeBron and the East looking vunerable, who’s going to be bold enough to move from the West to the East and not have to go through powerhouses like Golden State and the Spurs? Toronto will have to trade Terrence Ross and one of Patterson or Joseph to make this happen though.
8. The Bulls. If they trade Jimmy Butler, how on earth are they going to win games? If he stays, I look for them to improve. Another two teams would be Charlotte if they lose their free agents in Batum and Williams and the Nets who probably have no choice but to trade one or both of Lopez or Young to recoup some of their picks they lost. I do like Chris McCollough and Rondae Hollis Jefferson even though I don’t understand why they traded Mason Plumlee.

machu46Participant1. I suppose it’s closing, but I think they’ll have a shot for the next few years. It will probably require some luck though (ex: Curry, Klay, or Draymond getting injured for the Finals)
2. I’m going to say Atlanta (Teague) or Golden State (not REALLY big, but I’m thinking Bogut gets moved)
3. Minnesota taking Ellenson at #5. I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad pick, but it seems that he isn’t getting top 5 consideration from most draft sites and I think there’s a legitimate chance he’s their guy.
4. Riser: Dejounte Murray; Faller: Depends on what site you use as a reference. I think Malachi Richardson falls to the early 2nd round and think Timothe Luwawu falls to the 20’s.
5. Kent Bazemore, Dion Waiters, and Bismack Biyombo. Someone will be convinced that Bazemore is a good 3&D guy just about to break out and I just don’t trust his shooting. Dion was pretty much terrible his entire career up until this postseason and is now expected to get $12-16 million per year based on recent reports. Biyombo is expected to get $15+ million as well and I just don’t see it with him. He’s a good rebounder and a pretty good defender, but he’s just so abysmal offensively. I just don’t see him as a starting center in the NBA.
6. Eric Gordon. The injuries will weigh his price down a lot, but when healthy, he’s a good starter. If a team gets lucky and he can stay healthy, he could be worth far more than his current contract.
7. Nobody. I don’t see anyone really beating Golden State, San Antonio, OKC, and Cleveland next year. Minnesota and Milwaukee have some nice cores brewing though.
8. Nobody.

UncledrewParticipant1. Yes, but not to the extent you might think. Lebron has said he wants to play in to his late 30s and should easily be able to given his size and facilitating ability which should give him atleast 5 seasons of mvp level play not to mention Irving should continue to grow as a playmaker as well they will be fine.
2. Kevin love to the rockets for dwight in a sign and trade deal. Love will have a more comfortable roll as the premier forward in Houston while dwight gives cleveland a defensive anchor, rim protector and lob target lebron would feast on.
3. Word on the street is…Boston loves Marquese Chriss in his workout but if you ask me it’s smoke and mirrors. Yes, Chriss has potential but I think everyone knows he not a top 3 prospect in this draft but maybe Ainge accidently pulls the trigger
4. Thon Maker highest riser maybe 9 to Toronto he’s currently projected late 20s. They could use a talented 4 to complement Valencieuns and Maker is talented. Sabonis is in top 10 in some mocks but I think he could easily slip into the 20’s a hard worker but below average athlete by NBA standards.
5. Seriously overpaid will be Mike Conley. Now hear me out Mike Conley is a very good player in this league but sources are saying that he may command a 26 million per season under the new cap. This is more than LeBron, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Chris paul currently make and the list goes on. Understandably the cap is increasing, however in no world should Mike conley at 29 be paid anywhere near those caliber players. A nice player he is but not that caliber.
6. Eric gordon will be a steal. Coming off a decent season trying to overcome injurys he’s going to get picked up on a bargain maybe he could shore up some perimeter scoring in OKC and complement Roberson defense at the 2.
7. Pretty sure the Timberwolves will make some noise under Tom Thibodeau. They have an outstanding core of two way players in Karl Towns and Andrew Wiggins they should be a playoff team out west very soon.
8. I could see the Magic having a few really bad years. They have a good offensive center in Vuc, a very slow developing Aaron Gordon, a point guard who struggles to make shots in Payton and their best perimeter scorer in Fournier hitting Free agency. Feel bad for Oladipo because he was really promising but looks to have regressed in Orlando’s system I could see them really struggling barring some major upgrades.

Magic JordanParticipant1) Yes, but I am in the minority in thinking that it was never truly open. The Cavs were never beating the Warriors, Spurs, Thunder and honestly I don’t think they beat a healthy Clippers team but that would be the most competitive series of the bunch. As the Cavs were ripping through the leastern conference people were very quick to tout them as equals to the West. In reality they are a middle of the pack team in the west and I don’t see that changing. And on top of that, if you add Durant to the current Celtics team, they are better than the Cavs.
2) First big trade will come from the 76ers or the Celtics.. or maybe both at the same time. I don’t imagine there will be a lot of movement on draft day this year due to the huge cap increase. Teams will wait to see how that unfolds.
3) Like everybody I have to go with the Suns and Chriss. They need a 4 and he is a workout warrior. He was built for workouts.
4) Riser will be Thon Maker or Qi. All mocks have them all over the board but I think both get picked in between 12-18.
5) Hard to even speculate because a lot of people are going to look overpaid this summer. I will go a different route and say Dwight Howard though. Plummeting production and appears to have really embraced the role of terrible teammate. The lack of production probably isn’t entirely his fault, but he seems to rub every team that picks him up the wrong way. Hard to deal with that kind of diva if he isn’t grabbing 14 rebounds and blocking 3 shots a game… which I think he is long past those days.
6) This one is also tough. Considering the money some of these guys are going to be getting can I say none? Steals are going to be hard to find in the free agent pool. For my preference I would target young guys who have shown promise, but not put it all together. I still think Meyers Leonard can be a starter and play 25 minutes a game somewhere if he is healthy so I’ll roll with him. Fournier kind of broke out last year so I don’t know if he will count as a steal.
7) No team can transform the NBA unless Spurs sign Durant. That would be insane.
8) We won’t see an act like Philly’s again for awhile. The backlash whether warranted or not was something that the owners couldn’t get past and bailed on the plan half way through. I will say though that once it is blatantly obvious that Embiid is closer to Greg Oden than Hakeem, 76ers roster could make some very entertaining moves.

Magic JordanParticipant1) Yes, but I am in the minority in thinking that it was never truly open. The Cavs were never beating the Warriors, Spurs, Thunder and honestly I don’t think they beat a healthy Clippers team but that would be the most competitive series of the bunch. dbeal21Participant1. Is the championship window closing on Lebron and the Cavs?
Yes I think if they lose again this year Love is getting traded and the Cavs get a lot of new players.2. Who makes the 1st Big Trade/Signing of the Summer?
Philly with Noel or Jahlil3. Who takes the biggest reach in the lottery?
Boston or Sacramento They make me scratch my head with their picks sometimes4. Who will be the draft’s highest riser and lowest faller?
Riser Thon Maker a lot of mystery and upside with him I bet he goes lottery
Faller Jaylen Brown If the Suns pass on him I could see him falling almost out of the lottery if not out5. Who’s about to get seriously overpaid in Free Agency?
Biyombo, he picked the right time to start playing well $$$6. Who looks like he’ll be the biggest steal in Free Agency?
Brandon Jennings, Once was a very good Point Guard maybe he can get back there7.What team or teams can completely transform the NBA like the Boston or Miami Big 3’s?
Boston, They have a lot of decent trade chips and a lot of young Guards, could see them package away a lo of it for say Kevin Love? They’ve always loved him and now might be able to afford him a few 1st rounders and young players8. What team effectively takes a nose dive this off season and pulls a Philadelphia for a few seasons?
Brooklynn Nets Not sure why Its even a question they have a horrible team with no positive momentum0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/06/2016 - 12:13pm #1070737
