Bulls need a shooting guard. David Thompson

Blazers take Wes Unseld to rebound and make outlet passes for the fast break.

With Nash and Nowitzki, the Bulls definitly need a defender. Dwight Howard would give them a great defender and would really compliment the outside shooting of Dirk and Nash. The perfect addition.

The Blazers could also use a big man. I’m torn between a few different PFs but in the end I think I’ll go with 7 time All-Star Jerry Lucas who could shoot, rebound at an elite level and pass. Chris Bosh, Dave Debusschere, Blake Griffin, and Spencer Haywood just miss out.

The Bulls take Shawn Marion for lineup versatility and defense, the Blazers take Bob Lanier, the best two way center on the board. People may be tempted by Neil Johnston, Dolph Shayes, and Jerry Lucas but these were 6’8 guys who peaked before the league was integrated. Guys like Penny Hardaway (my favorite player growing up) and David Thompson deserve to be drafted soon based on their peak, but do we assume that Penny gets hurt in the third quarter and David Thompson partied too hard the night before?

That’s blatantly untrue about Lucas. He was at his peak in the mid 60s and made his final All-Star game in 1971

Also keep in mind that most players back then used their measured heights barefoot, so in todays NBA Lucas would probably be listed around 6-9 or 6-10 which is perfectly normal for a PF.

There’s a video on youtube where Jerry West explains that even though he was listed at 6-2, he was actually 6-4 and a half inch. If you see pics of a 60 year old West next to Kobe you can see that he’s only a couple inches shorter.

Lucas played a bit later than the other two, and his numbers are a bit lower as well, I would consider those guys roughly equivalent. I could buy the barefoot argument, and maybe they could hang with modern training, but the tape we have shows below the rim players.

Both teams need an enforcer, and Dennis Rodman should be at the top of both lists. At 6’7” with his defensive versatility, he could play the 3 next to Dirk, or the 4 or 5 depending on the lineup.

The Worm goes back the Bulls

The Blazers should grab Ben Wallace to play the 5 spot.

Steve Nash could use a roll man, Dirk plays best alongside a dominant defender, and both seem like nice enough guys to put up with his clowning. Dwight Howard is the perfect pick here.

Durant and Kidd? I know two things about this team: 1) I want it to RUN 2) I want to have the option to put Durant at the 4, therefore I want some lineup versatility. Great shout from the poster above about Marion, but it appears we’ve forgotten about BIG GAME JAMES! The perfect slasher, defender and rebounder alongside Durant.

    Bulls: Dwight Howard

    Blazers: James Worthy

Chicago: Paul George (good wing defender and can shoot the 3. Easier to grab a defensive big man later).

Portland: Lucas (BPA on my board. 17&16 with defense. good shooter too).

Bulls.. I like a couple of people here. Dwight Howard, Ben Wallace, Mark Aquirre, Artest, AK47, Peja and Paul George,… But I think Dwight Howard is the guy here though. Stephon frikkin Marbury got picked before him for christ sakes. I think im going to post about it every time I vote because that is ridiculous lol.

The Blazers… Some really talented players stilll left,, Rasheed Wallace, Draymond, Larry Johnson, Shawn Kemp, Jermaine O’Neal.. Hell.. Klay Thompson, Hamilton, Petrovic, Sam Jones, Jimmy Butler, Michael Redd, Paul George..

Looking at Jermaine Oneal’s numbers from those Pacers teams… simply remarkable. He’s my pick for the Blazers

    So

     Bulls: Dwight Howard

    Blazers: Jermaine ONeal
