valentineFIBA has banned a whole bunch of the top European national teams.
They received letters saying they cannot participate in Eurobasket 2017. It is unknown whether European teams will be able to play in the Olympics, including those who have ready qualified.
The issue stems from FIBA wishing to take back the Euroleages top club championship and make it their own.
This what they’ve resorted to.
Thoughts on FIBAs strongarm tactics?

YungmUNyParticipantCan you explain to me why they’re banning so many teams? I just read a thing saying it was because they had teams participating in Eurocup… but I thought Euroleague and Eurocup were affiliated like majors/minors?
I’m beyond confused… mind explaining it to me like I’m five?

Hype MachineFIBA does not control the top Tier European Leagues. So they set up a European’s Champions League to start next season and insisted that Club Teams (eg Barcalona) play in their league and not the privately run Euroleague.
Most teams decided to stay with Euroleague, which FIBA believes is set up in a way that is illegal as its not 100% merit based.
Their response strangely is to ban 14 of the best teams from participating in their own International competition.

European BasketballerParticipantFIBA is a corrupt organization, probably even much more than FIFA. They have been corrupting every major national team tournament for decades. That is all you need to know about them.
And this will never hold in court, because FIBA would have to explain why they did not also ban Team USA, since NBA has its own league and NBA teams play in it, rather than FIBA owning and controlling the NBA, and the NBA owners having to share money from the NBA with FIBA.
If the NBA, NBA teams, and Team USA and USA Basketball are immune from these rules, then so are all of the European leagues, European clubs, European federations, and European national teams.
