high floorParticipantBelow are some lesser publicized stats that I think players improved upon this year which ultimately contributed to their teams winning a few more games. I started this post with advanced stats, but wanted to simplify it more with generic stats for readability.
- Kawhi Leonard improving his 3pt percentage from 34.9% to 45%, on more attempts
- Kemba Walker also improving his 3pt percentage from 30% to 38%, more attempts
- Rodney Hood improving his FT% from 76% to 86%, more attempts
- Victor Oladipo cutting his T.O’s down from 3.0 to 2.1
- Draymond Green improving his FG percentage from 44% to 48% this year
Any other player stats that stood out we can include?

J_01ParticipantI know it might not be a numerical stat but what about Lowry’s weight loss lol
He really slimmed down last summer and kept the weight off this year and his game has shown it. He’s much faster and hasn’t really loss any strength either. However the biggest plus is probably the less weight causing for one of his best seasons health wise and also the ability to sustain his high level of play all year.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantDerozan’s still not a great 3 point shooter and may never be but his ball-handling and playmaking ability has improved drastically from where it was a few years ago and he is a much more complete player overall.

CynthiaParticipantHassan Whiteside going from 2.6 to 3.7 Blocks
2.6 BPG would still be good enough for first place this year, beating out DeAndre’s 2.3. Raising it to 3.7 is just insane. He almost doubles Ibaka’s blocks (1.9 x 2 = 3.8).

ZouldiersParticipantDon’t forget his FT shooting. from 50% to 64%. Players stop hacking him because he has become a respectable FT shooter.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantHow about Luis scola adding the 3 point shot to his game and becoming a legitimate stretch 4 for toronto for the first time in his career.

Stop_basketball_nonsenseParticipantI have to throw some love to will barton of Denver. He is shooting .353 from 3. He is averaging 14.5pts 5.9rebs & 2.5,assists per game this year. Looking like the winner of 6th man of the year, still Denver is a losing ten, so that might play significantly against him.
The obvious is Westbrook with his assists. He has gotten significantly better at running a team, even though some nights he still takes to many shots.
Even though i abhor what d.russell did, he improved significantly over the season proving he can play and still has room to grow.
The huge 1 I haven t seen anyone mention yet is mccollum, & without him Portland is in the top 10 of the lottery.

Hype MachineDellavedova – Added a reliable floater, which teams now have to respect.
Added 4% to his fg% and the threat of him driving led to bigman rotations and Alley Oops to guys like Tristan Thompson.
This resulted in 4.5apg as a backup PG, and increase of 1.5apg.
Fans still gonna hate though.

lalailaParticipantAs for Draymond it’s much more impressive how crazy his assists went up. I mean over 7 assists per game any PF at all have done it?

Meditated StatesParticipantAs a playmaker and decision maker has improved dramatically. His overall game has made him more effective than John Wall.
