Shoutout to University of Hawaii

 I’m a student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and this season came out of the blue.  Last year head coach Gib Arnold was fired after violations were discovered.  This year Eran Ganot 34 years old, took over as head coach.  In December UH hosted the Diamond Head Classic where they nearly beat Oklahoma (84-81) who was ranked 3rd at the time.  During the Diamond Head Classic the NCAA also announced the sanctions that included being ineligible for the tournament next year and losing scholarships.  Yet this team kept fighting, finishing with a 27-5 record and won the Big West tournament this past week.  Those sanctions coming have motivated the team to take advantage of their opportunity this season.  

 Coming into this game with Cal I expected UH to struggle with the size and athleticism of Cal  but they fought hard and pulled off the upset.  Tyrone Wallace and Jabari Bird being out made a big difference for sure but I couldn’t be prouder of the way UH has played this year.
