Pick five (5) players that are freshmen that are considering entering the NBA draft that you believe should stay in school. A combination of either two guards and three forwards or three guards and two forwards. Let’s pretend this upcoming draft isn’t supposed to be one that lacks depth and that these kids wouldn’t be giving up millions of dollars.

G- Isaiah Briscoe, he spent last summer (2015) getting his body in better shape. Unfortunately he spent so much time in the weight room and that caused him to ignored the free throw line the entire off season. Defenses have dared him to shoot, leaving him wide open. He does however pentrate defenses to get to the bucket fairly easy and gets fouled. Trouble is, he can’t shoot like at all. A shooting clinic would do him wonders this off season or he can hope to go in the second round.

G- Malik Newman, yowza! Another guard from the SEC. He has the worst qualifying shooting percentage on his team. His season high in points was 25 against Ole Miss, season high in shooting percentage was 67% on 6-9 shooting against NC Central, and his season high in assists is 5 (one time) against LSU in a season high 39 minutes. So uhh, he’s not a PG, not a SG, and doesn’t look like a combo guard…another year in college wouldn’t hurt unless he wants to go to the D-League or Europe with no guarantee of getting any exposure again, at least he could try to make some noise in the SEC tourny next season and get drafted as a transition shooter.

F- Diamond Stone, what is it with big men that don’t rebound this year (looking at you Skal)? I know he has some veterans on the Maryland team but get hungry kid. We all respect a big guy that goes and gets boards, but 5.4 a game, come on. Besides his 39 point outting against Penn State (snooze), there hasn’t been much offense run through this big man. Maybe it’s because he isn’t playing with a natural PG in Trimble, but to some this guy Diamond Stone was a sleeper for #1 pick before the season started. Overall unimpressed as an immediate impact, doesn’t look ready to play NBA minutes and needs to prove he can contribute at a high level in college before he enters the draft.

F- Henry Ellenson, another big man that attended high school in the state of Wisconsin. We all know that sometimes it’s the best thing for the team to have your best player take the most amount of shots, but DAMN. He took the most amount of shots on the team, 118 more than the second leader on the team (a Soph), and really shot an ineffcient clip. He shot nearly 50% on his two point attempts but took far too many 3’s. If he wants to add 3 point range to his game it might be benficial to stay in school opposed to becoming the next Brian Cardinal.

F- Thomas Bryant, this pick was more because Bryant has had to take the back seat to some upper classmen on the team (Ferrell and Williams) and if he stays next year the team will run through him. He does need to rebound more and cut back on his fouls but those will improve with experience in the offensive plays and defensive sets. Bryant has been a victim this year being IU’s only real big, next year he will have help coming in with De’Ron Davis so Bryant could play off the ball on defense and get boards and blocks.

Honorable mention: "Dead horse" Skal…I’m bored of him and quiet frankly don’t feel like talking about him. I only put him as honorable mention because if I didn’t someone would point it out, so carry on.

I’d put Diallo in at F instead of Stone or Ellenson.

It took him 4 years of college to become the first Brian Cardinal…
