The Scare Crow RisesParticipantI think anyone would be crazy to trade away Jahlil Okafor, Robert Covington and a Top 3 pick(Simmons or Ingram)
So I’m not sure how I feel about the idea, but the 76ers do need a true Ticket Seller/Franchise Guy to lure other players to the Team
The 76ers could actually survive a trade like this, with their Cap Space and other prospects and trade assets they could still put together a playoff team built around Blake Griffin, Noel/Embiid/Saric/Smith and their picks from Miami and OkC (Bacon or Buddy Hield via trade up?)
I would hate missing out on a player like Ben or Brandon but Blake is a guaranteed thing, he would be that alpha on a Team that needs an alpha, and IF Joel Embiid pans out he’ll help Philadelphia fans forget all about big Jah…I’m also high on Saric playing F/C ala Boris Diaw Diaw in this up tempo D’antoni system…

Mr. 19134ParticipantActually a trade revolving around Okafor for Blake is a really intriguing one cuz it would make sense.
The Clippers have been winning without Blake and rumors or his FA had then listening to offers. Stylistically Jah and Blake arent all that much different. Jah will eventualy add a consistent jumper like Blake but in the meantime is a beast facing up off the dribble.
For the Sixers adding Blake alongside a healthy Embiid and Noels allows them to actually use their cap room on another all star.
Like for instance a possible starting line up og Kriss Dunn, Barnes, Covington, Blake and Embiid is a playoff team set up for the future

We would have to trade a 20 year old Okafor, Covington(for spacing), Landry(for Cap) and OUR TOP 3 PICK!
No Simmons, No Ingram, and no Kris Dunn…
Like I said I’m one of my earlier post, we’d likely go after a Guard like Dwayne Bacon if we stay put with our Picks due Via Miami and OKC, but we could package the picks and move up to grab Buddy Hield(another OK guy)
Using our cap space and Blake Griffin to lure A SF like Barnes or Batum or Gallinari, if we need an upgrade at PG Perhaps we could pry Bledsoe for Cheap or sign Brandon Jennings and hope he thrives in a D’antoni offense

It’s just a bad trade for the 6ers. You don’t plan and start to build for the future, just to quit and reach on a quick fix 2 1/2 years into your 5 year plan.
Trading Jah halfway through a potential ROY season, just doesn’t make any sense. Has anything like that ever happened in the NBA? You just drafted the kid and he’s playing well.
You have a near 50/50 chance at 2 top 5 picks. Your not trading those picks until after the lottery in May when you know exactly what you have.
Barnes on a max deal, no thanks. He’s in a perfect situation in Oakland for success. I don’t see him as a #1 guy for any team that hopes to contend for a title, a #2 maybe.
So acquiring Blake Griffin makes Philly a FA destination spot? Not likely. Blake is known as soft around the league. Who’s signing up to be his 2nd fiddle?
Eventually something has to be done with this current roster but not yet and not for that price.

Having all these high picks seems to have compelled them to take who they deem the best player available in the last few drafts and they have all been bigs. Trading for any big makes no sense. They need an elite level guard or two to get traction moving forward. A balanced roster creates synergy. The ball moves. With an unbalanced roster the defense just walls off the heavy threat and forces the thinner positions into trying to make more plays than they are capable of. That’s why whoever they plug into the Sixers backcourt puts up decent numbers. They’re going to get all the shots they want because the defense wants them to fire away. Until the Sixers get someone to penetrate and kick and reliable wings to pull up and make shots, forcing the defense out of the paint, their bigs will continue to see multiple defenders. Griffin does some of those things but so will Saric. I’d stick to the program and if they don’t get the top pick they could trade pick two or three(or a young big), move down (it’s a big heavy draft this year), and score some backcourt help. The Sixers problem may be they have been picking too high in too many consecutive drafts. They haven’t had to reach for a guy like Jordan Clarkson or Reggie Jackson in a while. Klay Thompson and Steph Curry were both picked below the range the Sixers keep positioning themselves in. They need to stop thinking about assets and start thinking about basketball. Get some guards.
