CDPHParticipantI wrote an article today debating Skal Labissiere’s place among the biggest recruiting flops of the modern age. I’d love to get some feedback and other people’s biggest busts.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantNo, but this is one of the biggest overreactions to half a season of college play

Hype MachineWhether you agree or not…the OP definitely did his homework. I actually liked the article quite a lot.
Josh Selby is the deserving ‘winner’….but it just goes to show how epic-ly bad Skals season is becoming.

Dev44ParticipantI’m not saying deandre Jordan and Skal are the same player but they’re numbers from college are not to much different! Deandre is clearly closer to being a finished product, but Skal has skills that can translate to the NBA just fine. If he (Skal) works on his motor and staying active, while developing his game I think he could more the decent in the league

CDPHParticipantBelieve it or not, I didn’t write this as a smear peice or anything. I wanted to be objective and look at real numbers to debate his relative place on the list.
I have nothing against Labissiere, in fact I say in the article that I think he’s a talented player. He simply isn’t coming close to living up to the expectations inherent of a #1 recruit.
The reality is, if he didn’t come in with a reputation as being a top player, few people would be giving him a second look and no one would be talking about him as an NBA player. Does he have skills? Sure. Is he playing well this year? Definitely not.
I was hoping this was going to evoke a conversation about the biggest recruiting busts. I was actually surprised there weren’t more gigantic busts among the top 5’s.

IlladelphParticipantCDPH – Not a smear piece? Really? The title is "Is Skal the Biggest Recruiting Flop of All Time?" Really "objective". Ok, yeah.
Try to be a decent human being and stop writing click-bait trash, and not step on a kid just to try and promote your blog.
Maybe I’ll write an article called "Is CDPH the Biggest Douche of All Time?", and then claim that I am just being "objective", and trying to create a dialog to discuss big douche bloggers. Not a smear thing at all. Just to compare you against all other douchebags to see who is the biggest douchebag of all.

Dev44ParticipantSkal is only a freshman who plays for one of the most hype programs! The fact that people try to down this kid is crazy to me! but the fact that NBA scouts still see him as a first rounder is what’s even more scary. I look at it like this, if he declared for the draft, his timer would start, meaning he’d have 3 years to get bigger, better and stronger both physically and mentally. All While making some money. At worst in three years (22 years old) if he can’t cut it in the league he’d be overseas still making money while continuously developing his game…

Kwame33ParticipantI just think the credence and fervor given to these high school rankings are out of hand and touch to begin with.

Mr. 19134ParticipantLol lets be completely real here thus far far OP is right. Skal is nothing more then a tall string bean who while having a deft shooting touch, doesnt rebound and often looks completely lost on the court. Hes been bad like really bad so far.
