jcotingParticipantWho would you take for the last guard spot in this all-star game? Both playing great basketball right now. Lillard with 36 points and Rondo with back to back triple-doubles tonight. Personally I would take Rondo since the Kings are in a better standing. But honestly it could go either way. If not any of these two guards, which other guard would you take for the West?

Arc12345ParticipantI would take Lillard. He’s having a great year (better than last year), and he’s had some SUPER impressive wins basically on his own (scoring 17 with 5 straight 3’s in the 4th vs. OKC for the win). He and McCollum show up basically every night with not much help.
I understand Rondo is on a better team, and his assists numbers have been crazy, but I really think Lillard is the better player. I don’t know that’s just my opinion.
Rondo is a great player and orchestrator and clearly knows how to run a team, but he’s rubbed me the wrong way through out his career. Essentially quitting on his team last year, directing a gay slur at an official he knew was gay, and visibly trying to trip Deron Williams from the sidelines during a game this year doesn’t scream all star to me. He’s not a high character guy, and when I think it’s close between him and Lillard, I’d like to see it go the better person. We’ll see though.

HitsterParticipantRondo is leading the NBA in assists and Coach Karl seems to have got him playing again so he has to be in with a shout for AS recognition. But personally I’d put Lillard before Rondo due to his consistent and impressive scoring across the season so far.

Meditated StatesParticipantMakes the other players better. Effects the game in more areas. Can dominate without scoring. Winning games is the teams priority when he runs the show. Cousins great season is not by accident, his higher shooting % not by accident. Rondo controls Cousins.

BornaskulParticipantI agree with most things you said but Cousins isn’t shooting a higher percentage this season.
even when you look at TS% it’s fairly similiar
13-14 .555
14-15.545
15-16 .542

Meditated StatesParticipantArticle about Cousins being obsessed with winning. After my first statement. Rest my case.

The Garbage ManParticipantGranted Lillard is scoring better, Rondo is posting a ridiculous 12 points, 12 assist, and 7 rebound stat line. with 2 steals a game. He affects the game more, Rajon all the way!! Even though Lillard is more popular so he’ll probably get it.
