sheltwon3ParticipantI kind of see him as a Michael Redd myself but he has looked a little like Roy in these summer league games. I have only seen the highlights of these so I could be wrong.

Knicksboy34ParticipantSummer League….Im holding judgment until the real season.

birdman113i think he could be good but he could be the 4th option for the thunder.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 7:11am #178321

sheltwon3ParticipantI know that same for me but he is showing a lot of skills and athleticism that many did not know he had like Roy. He is also younger than Roy was when he came in and Roy got more explosive later on in the year as if he must have done some special training to increase he athleticism. I can only imagine how good the Thunder will be. They are young and talented.

WildDudeParticipanthe could actually be a third option because Jeff Green is more of a garbage man he’ll hustle, rebound, hes the ultimate team player so I see James Harden being the third or second option if Russell Westbrook develops into a true point guard but that’s not likely at this point… but James Harden looks like the real deal I see him averaging 12 his rookie year.

Lemons4LifeParticipantI also said before the draft that Harden was going to be like Roy. Harden is probably going to be on eof top 3 best players in the draft. While the years go on, I see him becoming an elite.

sheltwon3ParticipantYall have to over this, he will be the guy people leave open and he will make shots and he is a underrated passer. His skill set and abilities are perfect for the Thunder. He and Durant will play well together. he is already looking pretty good next to Westbrook.

sheltwon3Participantcitrisiswow — that is what I was talking about. He over development and what he would do for the team right now.
Wilddude you are right he will probably be 3rd option with Green playing a more Odom like game and setting his teammate up and crashing the boards. I have heard that Green is starting to get his body more ready for PF action because I know he has the size and length to do it.

gregoden08Participanthe’s no ROY, and never will be…simple as that. And also, Roy had a 40.5 inch vertical in the combine…so he was always explosive.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 8:03am #178358

tuck243ParticipantDidn’t Harden have that same vert? LOL… The closest player I can compare to Harden is B-Roy and I said that since his Freshman year… But so many people hate on him and won’t give him credit… I just don’t understand people sometimes… They give some people with HUGE holes too much credit and give players that don’t have any glaring holes not enough… I guess its all up to the eyes…
0- Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 8:06am #178361

gregoden08ParticipantHe had a 37 inch vertical. Anyhow, I’m not hating on Haren at all. He’s going to be a great player. However, he’s never going to be on the Roy level. Simple as that.

aarondsonixfanParticipanti think harden had like a 37 or something like that.. he wasn’t in the 40s
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 8:11am #178366

tuck243ParticipantYea… I just looked it up… But still I see a similar game… I just don’t see how someone can not see a slightest comparison… Hold on dudes a Portland fan… LOL… Now, I underwstand the hate…
0- Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 8:18am #178368

gregoden08ParticipantDude, how am I hating? I said James Harden was going to be great, but never on B-Roy’s level. And he NEVER will be. Get your facts straight.

sheltwon3ParticipantLOL, Harden is younger and 4 inches in your vertical does not make you more explosive. You can actually do strength training for that and if you look at Harden, he could possibly improve his body and also at 19 he could still be growing. His game is so close to Harden and to some extent Redd that you have to give him he due. We are not knocking Roy but if everyone would have known Roy was going to be this good, I doubt he would have gone some low or been traded on draft day. Roy was a guy who came in ready for the NBA after 4 years on college. Harden is coming in after two. Harden is a gifted passer and can handle the ball well. He has a chance in three years to be very close to how Roy is now. That would put him closer in age to how old Roy is right now. I still see him as more Redd than Roy though but I have definitely seen the similarities and it is too early to say who will be better when Roy was not even that Hyped so it is too early to know what Harden will do. It is a definite that they have similiar games.
0- Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 8:28am #178374

gregoden08ParticipantTrue, but when James Harden wins ROY and is an all-star for the next two years than we can talk.

sheltwon3Participantgregoden, not to be disrespectful but never is a strong word. When you say that you have to support how you came to such a strong word because it does sound like you are hating or being a fan boy by saying never about a player who have a game and the size of Roy to some extent. Noone is truly a duplicate but he could possibly be close and that is why he was taken number 3 in the draft. Also this draft is starting to look at lot stronger than people were saying.
0- Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 8:34am #178378

gregoden08ParticipantOkay. When Harden averages 23 ppg, 5 rpg, 5 apg and is one of the most clutch players in the league than we can talk. And also, we are basing this off of SUMMER LEAGUE LOL. Remember Jerryd Bayless? Yeah, he dominated the summer league and look at how he did last year in the NBA. Also, look at D-Rose. Didn’t do much at all in the summer league. Had a great regular season and did great in the playoffs and some people think he will be better than CP3. Summer league doesn’t mean all that much.

sheltwon3ParticipantWhat does that mean, getting those awards do not make him the same skill level or not. Getting awards in the NBA is not an exact science and it is about politics and hype. There are tons of great players never to make an All star game or get any MVP awards. Look how long it took Kobe to get an MVP and a Final MVP when he has 4 rings and has been to the Finals 6 times. His team only missed the playoffs once in his career. Harden has the skill and the potential to be able to do everything Roy can do and I that is from a skill level. The awards mean nothing because a lot of factors determine that. I can tell you are one of those kind of people though.
0- Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 8:36am #178379

gregoden08ParticipantAre you telling me Roy didn’t deserve those awards? Because he did.
0
- Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 8:55am #178391

gregoden08ParticipantI am not trying to argue with anyone. Harden is going to be a great player. He might even be an all-star once or twice, but I just don’t see him as being good as Roy. Do I see the comparisons? Yes, who doesn’t, but just because you’re being compared to another player doesn’t mean you’re going to be just as good. Example: Hasheem Thabeet. He always gets compared to Dikembe Mutombo. However, do any of you see him ever being as good as Dikembe? Also, Roy’s main weapon is being ambidextrous when driving to the rim and being able to finish with either hand. He’s probably the best in the league at doing that. Harden on the other hand is not nearly the ball handler that Roy is. Harden has a chance to be a better defender and a slightly better 3 point shooter, but I’m not going any further than that. No team relies more than Roy in the 4th quarter and he constantly proves the haters wrong time and time again. I hope Harden can do the same. I do hope Harden has a wonderful career, but I’m just being realistic. Roy is one of the top-3 sg’s in the league.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 9:53am #178403

sheltwon3Participantgreg oden how old are you man. Also Thabeet is far from Mutumbo. All I am saying is what inside information do you have that say Harden will not be as good as Brandon Roy. I did not say Roy did not deserve the awards. You are a fanboy and you are not listening to anything that I am saying obviously. There are a lot of players that deserve awards and do not get them. Getting any award does not say that another player who does not get those awards is worse than you. Harden is 3 years younger than Roy when he came in and he still has room to grow. I dont think Harden will be like Roy because his game seems like it will go in a different direction. That said he if very close to Roy and he could possibly be on his level or better. We will see who is right but for you say stuff like you have mystic powers and know stuff is foolish. All we were saying and you agreed is that Harden is looking really close to how Roy is and seem to be have that situation where he is coming in ready and was overlooked for a while. If you look at their skill set they are very similiar with Roy looking more explosive. Everything you mentioned that that Roy can do that Harden can’t , Harden can learn those things in less than the 3 years that he has to even be at the same age Roy was when he came in. I am wondering what your state of mind is because you are arguing something like you can predict the future. No one said Harden is going to be like Roy but he is very close to that skill set and how they both get points and can pass very well. Their games are close except Harden spots up more and like I said Roy seem more explosive but that is it. Saying Harden can not score as much as Roy is crazy and Harden will never have to carry a team because he has the guy that Roy could have had in Durant to do that. I am not a fanboy of Harden, I just stated something that I noticed. That is all. This fanboy stuff has to go. None of us knows Roy enough to be some ready to fight anyone or defend his name. Your arguments are not defending what you are saying because you are arguing something i never said.

gregoden08ParticipantFair enough.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 10:12am #178416

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantJames Harden can be a good player but he can’t be like Roy if he is going to play by Durant for most of his career.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 10:32am #178436

sheltwon3ParticipantI said that exact same thing earlier and that is why I said I see him as being closer to Redd than Roy because of what his role will be with the Thunder. That being said he has some abilities that Redd does not have and those are like Roy’s. I remember watching Roy in summer league and then watching Harden and I was like dang I can see it now before it was just something people said and I never really saw the Roy as much. I saw Redd’s game more but in the summer league he looked like how Roy looked when he played in the summer league.
0- Posted on: Wed, 07/08/2009 - 10:33am #178441

gregoden08ParticipantRoy play in the summer league…Wish I did.

Meditated StatesParticipantNot yet it is summer league. I think Harden is a above average complimentary player. I think Roy is the star on any team he is on.
