CJ McCollum and Brandon Knight are enjoying productive years for the Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns respectively. Both are 24 year old, 6’3, 190 lb combo guards that can handle the ball and shoot well from beyond the 3pt arc. So I’d like to get the forum’s take on who you think is the better current and long term player. Their 2015 season highlights are as follows

    CJ McCollum

    • Season avg – 20.4pts, 3.7rebs, 4.3assts, 43.8%fg, 84%ft, 2.2threes 1.3stl 2.2t.o’s
    • 15 games of 3 or more three point makes
    • 10 games of 2 or more steals
    • Career high 37pts on opening night this season
    • Scored 20+ points on 13 different occassions this year
    • Recorded 35pts, 11rebs, 9assts, 4stls, 1blk in a recent win agains SAC
    • One of six NBA players this season with 600pts, and 75 threes

    Brandon Knight

    • Season avg – 19.8pts, 3.9reb, 5.1assts, 42.5fg%, 83%ft, 2.5threes, 1.5stl, 3.4t.o’s
    • 11 games of 3 or more three point makes
    • 11 games of 2 or more steals
    • Season high 38pts agains Denver on NOV 20th
    • Scored 20+ points on 16 different occassions this year
    • Recorded massive triple double of 30pts, 10rebs, 15assts against LAL

I like both players, but I want to see Mccullom put together a full season. I’d rather go with Knight because he is more of a proven player, but if McCullom plays like he is for a full season, I’d go with McCullom because of his ability to score the ball in a variety of ways.

but Knight is really coming into his own as a high level NBA guard & his skills translate anywhere….. & look at Milwaukee since Knight departed…. Even though Parker & Monroe have been added since Knight left (I realize Parker was injured)….. the Bucks are around 15 games Under .500 since replacing Knight w/ MCW…..

I’ll go with Brandon Knight for now. BKnight is a very good scorer and shooter, and is also a very good perimeter defender. However, his playmaking skills are highly overrated. This is a close one, though.

Wow, I didn’t know Knight was having that good of a year. All you hear about from Phoenix is about Bledsoe. It’s tough, but as stated above, I’ll go with Brandon Knight until CJ proves he can do this for at least a full season

avg 20 pts 5 ast & 4 reb per game…. Ironically Bledsoe was also 1 of those 5…… Also, Milwaukee is roughly 15 games Under .500 since losing Knight…. Knight is a stud….. CJ is tearing it up too, but Knight has strung together several good years in a row….

CJ is a better ball-handler and shot-creator (by a lot, imo) while Knight is slightly better defensively. I’d take CJ though because his game is just so smooth. Reminds me of AI sometimes. Knight dribbles the ball too high and thus is a poor ball-handler for a guard to be a consistent No.1 or 2 option in my books.

Both are very good borderline all star players…extremely tough choice but Ill go with McCollum because of his ability to create off the dribble and finish in a variety of ways

yeah im on the CJ bandwagon he just seems so smart and he can run a team on his own and i think the bucks should go after this brother hard. im sure he can become a good pg in this league…

Who would the blazers want on the bucks and who would the buck be willing to let go.

Im sure the blazers would like Parker or Giannis, Middleton, or Monroe

The bucks would def say hell no to Parker dude was suppose to be their Paul Pierce or their go to scorer Monroe and Middleton just had contract extentions so it would be hard to trade them

Would anyone trade giannis for CJ. I know giannis was everyone darling last season and he is the better player but i just think the team would do so much better with a pg that should and distribute the ball and shoot.
