NBAjunkie81ParticipantKareem was before my time but I always heard from the old heads how great he was…. And obviously the stats & the UCLA documentaries showed how special he was…. But this documentary shows what an interesting, intelligent person he was… & a really nice guy too…. The parts w/ him & Bruce Lee were amazing! ….. Was wondering what you guys thought if you saw it?

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantI wouldn’t say he was the best player ever but I would say he had the best overall career of all time. He kind of gets overlooked I think because he didn’t have one of those larger than life personalities that you would associate with most superstar players.
I knew pretty much everything about his basketball career but very little about his personal life because he kept so much of that hidden. The documentary revealed a lot about the man himself beyond the basketball player.

usfballerParticipantThere’s a reason Kareem couldn’t get a job in basketball after his playing career ended (until Phil Jackson brought him in with the Lakers as a big man assistant). He was a raging asshole to teammates, coaches, front office staff, media and fans. The closest comparison I can come up with in modern sports history would be Barry Bonds. NO ONE liked Kareem.

NBAjunkie81ParticipantNothing about Kareem’s personality or off court demeanor…
There were many interesting tid – bits b/c he lived thru some interesting times… The "Airplane" movie skit… Bruce Lee…. Wilt Chamberlain’s Crazy Valor 70’s suits…..
& Kareem was one of the guys who came to a meeting to support Muhammed Ali’s decision to forfeit his Heavy Weight Championship Belts over Viet Nam…. a side note Bill Russell was also there supporting Ali & Kareem appeared At Least 4 inches taller than the Celtic’s Legend…

whiteflashParticipantI wrote almost this exact same thing on here a few weeks back when someone said what a nice guy Jabbar was. Truly one of the biggest a$$holes in sports history, and that’s saying something ’cause sports are full of entitled jerk@ffs.

Rip256He was always baked and Im not sure highly strung, non-smoking coaches and execs etc were on his level. All of those that have had to go into intense, professional environments after a reefer can relate.
Awkward as hell.
