    Eurobasket goes into its elimination round. 4 games today:

    Latvia-Slovenia:6 am eastern

    Greece-Belgium:8.30 am

    Spain-Poland:12.30 pm.

    France-Turkey:3 pm.

    All games will be played in Lille,France,in a soccer building being transformed in a basketball one(like they do for the NCAA final four). Teams that will be eliminated,will also be out of Rio 2016. So much at stake.

    Latvia 73-66 Slovenia. Great performance by Latvia,Strelnieks had 17 points,Benzins had 13,adding 6 rebounds,5 blocks and 3 assists. This team actually has a chance to get to the olympic qualifying tournament,which is amazing considering they could add that Kristaps Porzingis guy too. This country has 2 million inhabitants,that’s a great performance.

     Greece 75-53 Belgium. After an even first half(34-31),Greece just rolled over Belgium in the second half. They used a 23-11 third quarter to lead 57-42,then started the 4th quarter on an 8-0 run. Bourousis was the leading scorer for Greece with 14,Giannis Antetokounmpo added a double-double(10 pts,10 rebounds,2/4 on 3 pointers). They’ll face the winner of Spain-Poland in the quarter finals.

    Anybody watching Spain vs Poland? Poland is playing very impressive, making it difficult for Spain to get easy points while getting some nice scores on the other end.

    They couldn’t keep it up though: Spain’s team too deep for Poland to handle. Gasol with 30+ points, perfect from 3 right now, leading this Spanish team to the next round.

Pau Gasol scored 30 on 11/14 shooting(That’s efficiency at its finest),on 5/7 from two and…6/7 from three. Yep you read that right. Dude is still a monster at 35,and I don’t want to compare their careers,but what he’s doing is starting to be comparable to what Duncan is accomplishing at an advanced age. Spain-Greece will be a must-watch on Tuesday(should be around noon eastern time I guess)

The lead was 10 at the half,only 7 at the beginning of the 3rd. Turkey’s head coach had the good idea of getting T’d up,and then France never looked back. Nando De Colo was the leading scorer with 15,Lauvergne and Fournier added 12. pretty scary that Parker and Diaw didn’t even do too much on this game. The overall lesson of this game is that France’s defense is potentially the best of the tournament.

    Spain-Greece and France-Latvia being the first 2 quarter finals,will be played on Tuesday.
