Is Ryan McDonough in over his head as Suns GM?

Drafting Tyler Ennis, then unloading Kendall Marshall, doesn’t look like the best combination of first moves for McDonough either

 He needs time to build.  Be patient.  It takes a while to develop talent, and a system.  Especially if you’re not a major market team in a town like Phoenix.  

I mean, look at the Knicks if you want dysfunctional.  Is Pat Riley over his head?  Or what about Chicago for crying out loud.  Or Los Angeles.  Teams go through ups and downs.  It takes time to build a good team.  

As far as the Morris twins.  Who cares?  No one promised them that they would be able to keep sharing a bedroom for the rest of their lives.  They are getting paid millions to be professionals and play a game.  It’s so annoying to see them compaining about being mistreated.  The sooner the Suns dump the other Morris twin, the better.

 No, not at all, I think he’s just in the same boat that Ainge will be in this year with the Celtics, but doesn’t have the history ot plethora of picks to compensate. The Suns surprised everyone by having that winning record a few seasons ago, and that kind of forced his hand in a lot of areas. Add to the fact that Dragic finally got recognized as a great player, and he was forced into this psuedo-win-now mode while really wanting to rebuild. 

I think his drafting screams rebuild, while his signings tell a different story, and why he is so quick to just let playes go. He doesn’t know what he wants to do. He signs guys like Morris and Chandler, yet drafts guys like Len, Goodwin, and Booker who are all second contract players. That’s his biggest detracter, is he has no clear vision. I think once he commits to a plan he will be fine. What we do know is that he’s a good drafter who goes for high potential players, and that he can actually trade/sign good players (Chandler, Bledsoe, Knight). Time will tell if he is or isn’t over his head, but right now that remains to be seen.
