Ok just to reiterate to people when i do these i am asking for your opinion the grade given at the start of each topic is what i think and my reasonings for giving that mark, because i enjoy having conversation about nba teams with people who know what they’re talking about and i may learn something new about a certain team from a diehard fan. So please place your own grade at the end of this because i want to make these threads a community based score.

Now we continue our current trend of the atlantic division with the New York Knicks

    Knicks Offseason Grade: B-

They did the absolute best with what they could this year. Contrary to popular belief the knicks didnt strike out enitrely in free agency this year, although failing to sign a big name free agent RoLo, afflalo, O’quinn, seraphin, vujacic and derrick williams are all good signings for the knicks. Some are going to have more value immediately (Lopez, Afflalo) than others (Williams). And i love how they decided to play the draft this year, knowing that they wont have their own first round pick next year so deciding to draft players with the most potential and jerian grant can be a stud right away.

    Past Scores:

    Atlantic Division:

    Boston Celtics: B-

    Brooklyn Nets: B

No one really wants to go to the mess that is the Knicks, so getting Lopez and Afflalo, and drafting Porzingis and Grant was pretty solid.

Now they have to actually play Porzingis so he can develop and not become another Darko (forget how to play because he sits on the bench for the whole season).

I say a B+. Like you said, they made some good signings in Robin Lopez and Arron Afflalo and young guys like O’Quinn and Williams. They also made the most of their draft pick by taking Porzingis and trading for Jerian Grant. I don’t see them making the playoffs but I could see them competing for a spot in the playoffs that is why their future upside is higher for me than say the Nets.

Timberwolves have a great future.  2 great #1 draft picks (and 1 dud #1 pick).

Nets on the other hand, have the WORST outlook of all teams.

Lose their 2016 first round pick to Boston.

Swap their 2017 first round pick with Boston.

Lose their 2018 first round pick to Boston.

Their only saving grace is that Johnson’s 24 mil comes off the books at the end of the 2015-16 season.  Still, they have 22 mil per year locked up in the injury prone Brook Lopez until 2017-18.

Still, they have to build a team from scratch.

     B

I don’t think any team should have any type of curve because of situation or whatever the case may be. The Knicks did a good job adding talent and depth at positions they needed it but it wasn’t a perfect offseason. NYK still need a proper starting point and probably still won’t have enough to reach the playoffs.

I’d say a B+ as well. Aside from the obvious Porzingis, Grant, RoLo, and Afflalo additions, I think the Kevin Seraphin signing is highly underrated

I’d give the Knicks a straight B. Phil Jackson deserves some credit.

He’s turning chicken $hit into Chicken Stock. However it’s a long way from Chicken Soup.

This is a team that makes the playoffs in the Eastern Conference in my opinion.

I like every move the Knicks front office made this Summer almost reminds me of the Summer leading into the 2012 season. In all fairness to Melo and the Knicks the injuries that have occured to players some over and over (Stoudemire, Chandler, Calderon, Bargnani, Melo) "KEY" contributers have devastated their Playoff hopes not to mention JR Smith’s black cloud that surrounded the team. For the first time in some time this roster resembles a team. Versatile, young players, with a defensive anchor and a proven star. Barring any injuries I see no reason a rejuvenated Carmelo Anthony can’t lead a overhauled Knicks team back into the EASTERN conference playoffs.

Oan… RIP255 That chicken soup reference is going down in the history books LMAO
