European BasketballerParticipantI want to give update on player that I talk about here since he was 14, Vasileios Charalampopoulos. And yes, when I first mention him here when he was 14, whole entire forum laughed at me and mocked me and ridiculed me and said I was trolling.
Now, this player has just won gold medal at under-18 European championship.
He has just been named the MVP of the tournament.
And just so you know, NBA always drafts MVPs of Under-18 European Championship these days, almost always with first round draft picks, and they almost always are guaranteed to be signed to long term contracts.
So I just want to say that all the whole forum that was laughing at me and making fun of me and ridiculing me and mocking me when I first posted about this player 4 years ago here when he was 14, now who has the last laugh?
Also, a certain poster here named pohani komarac said ,amy times that he was "too small" for NBA and would never be drafted because of this…….
Charalampopoulos is now officially lisated by FIBA at 2.05 meters —>
2.05 meters = 6’9"
So looks like he was wrong on that one also. Looks like I was right on yet another Greek player. Why do you guys insist on contoinuing to challenge me here?

Rip255I dont think he has the game that NBA scouts look for.
I think he’d be one of those draft and stash players that teams love to select in the second round.
Gives them great flexibility to include his draft rights to make more important deals work.
As for whether he plays a game in the NBA…unlikely.
More the kind of player that could get you a double double in the Greek A2 league.

European BasketballerParticipantWhat the hell are you talking about? Greek A2 league? He plays already in Euroleague genius, in one of the 5-6 biggest clubs in Europe.

GronounoursParticipantMan, you claim Spanoulis could be the best player on earth and you want to be taken seriously? You hype tons of players, and when one of them turns out to be actually good, you think you’re a great scout?
You’re being mocked because you’re biased as hell, and you are convinced that not sharing your bias is being ‘racist’.
The real world is waiting for you, EB, just give it a try!

European BasketballerParticipantName one single lead guard in NBA that is more complete than Spanoulis. If you can do that, then maybe you can trash talk. Until then, you are just trolling me and proving you have no idea what you are talking about.

Anton123ParticipantDespite all the criticism he gets, European Basketballer is still, like, the only person on this forum that covers European ball in any detail. Even if it is mostly just Greek players (though he often rightfully corrects what players say about Dario Saric and others), many of his posts are actually rather informative and he clearly watches a lot of players.
I think we oughta appreciate what we have.

SkalAndJamalParticipantI’m not saying you’re wrong, but could you make a list of recent U-18 euro mvps.

larryfiskenParticipantEurobasket u-18, MVPs since 1998:
1998 Sani Becirovic
2000 Tony Parker
2002 Erazem Lorbek
2004 Sergio Rodriguez
2005 Dragan Labovic
2006 Nicolas Batum
2007 Kosta Koufos
2008 Donatas Motiejunas
2009 Enes Kanter
2010 Jonas Valanciunas
2011 Alex Abrines
2012 Dario Saric
2013 Kenan Sipahi
2014 Egemen Guven
So as we can see from the previous years there are quite a lot of talent, but not all makes it to the league or are a succes in the league, so there are no guarantees for Vassilis but certainly on the right track.

European BasketballerParticipantThe players all were put in NBA, or they are too young. NBA scouts all say they will put Guven and Sipahi in NBA though.
As for Lorbek he was offered to come to NBA man, many times and he simply never wanted to. As A LOT of the best players in Europe never want to play in USA. He was already in USA and he hated it there and left there because he hated the way of life there. So he always refused every time an NBA team offered him a contract and he was offered them several times.
As for the others, they had injuries, example Becirovic it was well known that NBA teams all wanted him and every NBA team had him as a top 15 draft pick and then he blew out both of his knees. Obviously after he blew out both of his knees he was not going to get drafted. But he was seen a a guaranteed first round draft pick before that. I remember after under-20 championship that NBA was talking about him as a top 10 draft pick.
Anbd to make the point, even after he blew out both of his knees, and was still on crutches and in casts….he STILL got drafted anyway, just on the small chance he might recover, which he never did.
So yes, NBA takes MVP of this tournament automatically. And especially I am talking RECENT years. This is standard NBA policy of last 7-8 years, not something you need to start digging up info on from 17 years ago.
But NBA has made this standard policy in last 7-8 years. Even during the game the FIBA announcer said the NBA scouts all say the NBA automatically considers the MVP of under-18 as a first round draft pick "in recent years".
NBA is very, very, very lazy with their scouting in Europe, as in it is non-existent and they do none at all of any kind. So I guess this is just their easy way of doing it.

Greek-Balleranother solid post, I think Charalampopoulos could start in the NBA in a couple of years. And yeah looks like you were right again, remember Giannis everyone.
