ExumInfernoParticipantThere are so many NBA teams with little depth at center, maybe they need to look in different places and possibly one team will want a 7-8 player.
Sturgess is tall, he isn’t the slowest player in the world, a team like the Bulls could do worse than have him as their 15th player.

morestealsthanscoresParticipantoh come on, have you seen him play? 2 ppg 2 rpg in a poor league, aged 27. I disagree, he is definately one of the slowest players in the world. and can’t score from the line either.
I’m a Brit so I would love to see it – but I’m more likely to play in the NBA than he is. And I’m 5’11".

thepointgawdParticipantI don’t think so. The NBA is scared of any player over 7’2. Reason being they’re alway injry- prone. Name one 7’2 player that hasn’t had a serious foot or leg injury.
Evidence: Yao Ming- Foot, Joel Embiid (he claims he’s 7’2 now)- Foot, Mark Eaton- Knee, Gheorghe Muresan- Back, Maunte Bol- Knee, Shawn Bradley- Multiple including Knees, Rick Smits (multiple), Ralph Samson, Zydruans Ilgauskas
Answer: Hasheem Thabeet, but he’s a bust sooooooo, Sim Bhullar, but he’ll play in the D-League, and Walter Tavares, who’ll also be in D-League

HitsterParticipantPaul had been playing for the Harlem Globetrotters and did get selected in the D-League draft but has now returned to play in the British Basketball Lerague. He is quite well known in the UK as he is the second tallest person in the country.
He was never really on the NBA radar as far as I could see and is probably better playing at home and using his size for film/media work etc.
Sun Ming Ming is still alive as far as I know. I always laugh at the rumour the Lakers did consider drafting him 10th in 2005 when they took Bynum. Does anyone know if this was true or just an urban legend. The thought of Kobe’s face when Sun lumbered onto court always amused me.

Bed HeadParticipantSince he seemed to mix those two terms up in another thread as well. You know, because "m0sc0w1te" is so clearly foreign and all. And Russians are, like, just constantly confusing retirement with, um, being dead. Otherwise, one might fear "m0sc0w1te" must be some sort of mental patient. Especially since his little comments are soooo not funny at all.
BTW, is that guy’s name actually Sun Ming Ming? Because, like, why are there two "Ming"s? Anyways, speaking of death, when Manute Bol died, I remember reading that several of his fellow African tribesmen were even taller than he was. Not sure why they never played professionally, though.
There is also a British dude, Neil Fingleton, who used to ride the pine at UNC. I’m pretty sure he is well over 7’7". Best part was he transferred to Holy Cross and was still a benchwarmer! However, on the plus side, he did get to play Mag the Mighty on only, like, the greatest show in the history of ever ("Game of Thrones"). So there’s that.

HitsterParticipantNice point by Bed Head adbove about Neil Fingleton, he is actually recogised as Britain’s tallest man and is now making a decent career for himself in acting having been in Game of Thrones, films like Jupiter Ascending etc.
I had to check up yesterday out of Paul Sturgess and Neil who was the UK’s tallest guy as both have been featured on TV overhere with the basketball careers and due to their height.
Was rather sad to discover that the man who Neil had replaced as Britain’s tallest person Chris Greener had died earlier this year aged 71. I can recall when Neil took the title from Chris about 8 years back and they were featured on TV together. Chris had held the title for over 40 years and was very well known in the UK media for his appearances and due to his size. He was a gentle giant and seemed pleased to hand on his title to a younger man as he was in his 60’s then and was having a few health issues due to his size. Chris also played basketball gor the GB national team in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI would sign the guy just to defend inbounds passes.
Hamed Haddaddi used to be good at defending inbounds passes and he was only 7’2.
I would imagine he would be hard to shoot over. You can’t coach height or wing span.
You could also put him in for a last second tip in. Throw the ball at the rim and maybe he can get his hand on it.
