Lets assume we trade the Miami or OKC 1st round pick for Jennings, would it make sense?

Jennings can flat out shoot and get the ball inside to Okafor, Wroten would be better served to play the 6th man role behind Jennings and Stauskas…

Just a thought I had after the free agent dust had settled…

Hinkie dont want mediocer players like jennings come and try to ruin the tank. The plan is to be bad now and rly good after couple years.

Shoots 35% for his career on jumpers, but can flat out shoot? Ok.

Acquire him as a stop gap? Sure, they need warm bodies to roll out there in the backcourt this year and he’s got 1 year remaining. Anything is better than Tony Wroten running the point. But they shouldn’t give up a first, even if it’s a late one, since he shouldn’t be a core piece going forward.

Scare Crow my fellow Sixermaniac… good to see you again. It’s hard for us on the forum to talk about Sixer related stuff sometimes without the usual "THIS IS STUPID" and even in Philly where some of our fans say the same … but it’s been unique. And exciting. Frustrating too. But overally, I’ve enjoyed what’s building these last two seasons and I still #TrustTheProcess… although we need some luck to go our way too eventually.

I agree, I don’t think Jennings will be a player Hinkie would take a chance on. Imagining him and Wroten potentially would be pretty tough to watch. But I see your concern and it’s bothering me as well. Our PG situation needs to be addressed. I don’t mind a one year rental for a capable guy (think DJ Augustin). Wroten may end up starting and won’t be bad even though his turnovers are something you have to learn to live with. DJ Augustin is solid got who can hit open shots when Okafor draws a double. If the Kings were giving up Ray Mac for pennies, I would have gladly threw a few 2nd rounders to the kings and try him out for a season.

Pierre Jackson aka PAPPY JACK! They sleep! I like his energy and I hope he makes it. Canaan should be waived. Ish Smith played well for us and developed good chemistry with Nerlens Noel but Im not sure where they stand or if Ish is getting other offers.

I agree that Wroten is best served off the bench, but Jennings isn’t the guy. He’s not going to be the starter for this team when (and if) they compete, and he isn’t much of an asset if they try to find that guy via trade. I think they are better off seeing what they have with Cannan and Pierre Jackson plus Wroten, then see if they can find their PG in the draft, or throwing the MIA or OKC picks for someone more efficiency/ upside

I would’ve liked to have seen Jimmer finally get his chance and for that to be in Philly. They need perimeter guys. I think he’s going to Europe.

A lot of stat guys missunderstand shooting percentages and just look at the bottom line number.  If Jennings wanted to, he could pass up those halfcourt shots at the buzzer, pass the ball to someone else when there is 2 seconds left on the 24 and not look to make the big play when his team needs it.  In conclusion, I’m not saying Jennings shots reminds me of Ray Allen, but I do think he has some upside if placed on the right team.

A few years back the Knicks had a guy named Landry Fields who totally manipulated the stat sheet.  Never took any shot to beat the buzzer, would pass the ball rather than shoot a bad shot, was ripping free throws out of teammates hands during garbage time to pad his stats etc.

Knick fans thought he was great.

Now the true answer is somewhere in between.  Jennings has to take better shots…yes.  But his ability to create and facilitate could be helpful as there are no great points available right now.

"Would pass the ball instead of taking bad shots." – geeze what a cancer that guy was.  That’s actually the right basketball play?? Something Jennings has still failed to realize.

not taking a shot against the shot clock, but either passing to someone else who has to chuck it to beat the 24, or Landry just took the violation.

Philly need someone to run the point who can create for the younger players on the roster ideally a pass first PG unless they draft or sign someone who can carry the ball and score.

I’ve banged on a bit about this but I feel the team currently needs an experienced PG to fill this role, it might only be a stop gap until Hinkie gets the roster how he wants it but I feel an experienced guy who could dictate the pace would be useful for the young roster. I would not even worry if the guy got torched on defence as the 76ers aren’t looking in any way to compete way at the moment.

I’m not sure who is available currently to fit this bill.

The 76ers may also keep a close eye on Dennis Schroder at Atlanta. The Hawks are obviously win now so I would rule out any trade this off season but with all the picks Philly have due. Come next summer when Hinkie knows exactly what his draft hand is, he could possibly offer Atlanta a very nice package for them to consider.

If it was the beginning of his current contract but with being injured and 1 year left it wouldn’t even make sense for a team that has no desire improve marginally right now

Any time someone starts a 76ers thread and doesn’t trash talk their organization is going to take it on the Chin…

Let alone suggest the Team take a low risk high reward flier on a scorer/shooter/passer like Brandon Jennings (who has amassed his own hate group on the forum)

I just wanted to know if it made a glimmer of sense from both a basketball and financial standpoint to add a player with Brandon’s ability to a team lacking a G with an outside jumper and the ability to pass the ball to Okafor and Noel, Jennings was making some serious strides in Detroit last year, we have the money to spare for a player on the gusp, one who is clearly talented but not part of his teams plan going forward thanks to OKC parting with Reggie Jackson…

Jennings would become the best player in our back court and we could likely get him for a late 1st rounder or even a couple of 2nd round picks, which IMO isn’t a terrible idea…

I’m as big a Sixers fan as you. I just don’t like B. Jennings. At all. in fact in my opinion, we have a better version of Jennings in Wroten. And in the long run I don’t see him being a starter for us either. Super sub yes, starter no.
