Is it just me? What happened to pure center prospects that actually where from the states? Not to be misunderstood or anything, I am not even american and I like this "trend", but has anyone wondered what’s up with that? Towns is not american (dominican, same as Horford), Porzingis too, Milutinov and Bhamara from the second round.. Pekovic and Vucevic both starters, Adams and Gobert were selected and are now starting for their teams, Splitter and Kanter are foreign, Bogut is a champion, Mozgov a contender, and Marc from Spain is about to get a huge salary, considered by many the most complete center in the world.. Of course Dwight and Cousins are here, but I don’t think it’s hard to realize that the 5 is dominated by players from around the globe.. Any thoughts?

Size is size and quality is quality. NBA teams will always take the best big guys available regardless of where they are from and it just happens to be that there have been an increasing number of quality foreign big men.

It seems that foreign big men are taught low post skills and how to play big while American bigs depend on their athleticism and try to play like guards (handling the ball, shooting 3s). Most NBA teams actually want a post presence and a guy with skills/knows how to play the game rather than a guy who tries to block every shot and jacks threes. I’d rather have a guy who knows his role (foreign) than a guy who thinks he can be the best/acts like he can do anything.

Big men in Europe don’t grow up modeling their game after Derrick Rose. Instead, they develop their big man skills. What a concept.

KAT was born in New Jersey and developed his skills in the US, so I wouldn’t call him a foreign player. He played on the Dominican team because his mom is from there. Now, the reason I think we are seeing more international big men is because they are a rare commodity so teams must look anywhere for potential talent.

You mean like Kristaps Porzingis? And, meanwhile, Okafor is as "old school" as it gets. So I think it’s sorta silly to stereotype (in either direction).

P.S. Welcome new member, "T Rex".
